Zion United Methodist Church in Kingstree. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed in White Oak Cemetery in Cades. Mr. Barr, 52, died Fri., Sept. 10, 2004, in McLeod Regional Hospital in Florence. He was born in Kingstree, a son of Mrs. Betty Parson Barr and the late Luther Barr. He was a member of Siloam Baptist Church and was employed by Williamsburg County Public Schools. Survivors, in addition to his mother of Kingstree, are: his wife, Mrs. Phyllis Barr of Kingstree; two sons, Specialist James Douglas Barr, Jr., of the U.S. Army stationed in Iraq and Tebor Barr of Kingstree; one daughter, Mrs. Brenda Barr Tisdale of Kingstree; two sisters, Mrs. Rosetta Lawrence and Mrs. Vivian Barr of Kingstree; and five grandchildren.
BOBBY TISDALE -- Funeral services for Bobby Paul Tisdale, conducted by Rev. Francis Burrows, were held Sat., Sept. 18, 2004, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Kingstree. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed in White Oak Cemetery in Cades. Mr. Tisdale, 31, died Mon., Sept. 13, 2004, in Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. He was born in Myrtle Beach, a son of Mrs. Joann Tisdale Samuels and Bobby Boykin. He was a member of Siloam Baptist Church and was employed by Nan Ya Plastics. Survivors, in addition to his parents, both of Salters, are: his wife, Mrs. Brenda Barr Tisdale of Kingstree; two sons, Bobby Tisdale, Jr., of Kingstree and Rivon D. Burgess of Cades; two step-daughters, LyAisha Barr and LyKaisha Barr, both of Kingstree; three brothers, Corey Tisdale of Salters, Broderick Boykin of Florence and Cyril Nesmith of Burlington, North Carolina; four sisters, Mrs. Tracey Pasley and Mrs. Patrice Boykin, both of Salters, Mrs. Clara Lewis and Mrs. Sharonda Hanna, both of Columbia; his grandmother, Mrs. Nancy Boykin of Salters and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Phyllis Barr of Kingstree.
CELIA TISDALE -- Funeral services for Mrs. Celia Tisdale, conducted by Rev. Frank James, were held Sun., Sept. 19, 2004, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Kingstree. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed in St. Paul United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Tisdale, 92, died Tues., Sept. 14, 2004, in Williamsburg Regional Hospital. She was born in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Dave Tisdale and Mrs. Lou Tisdale. She was married to the late Frank Tisdale. Survivors are: two sons, Frank Tisdale of Greeleyville and Willie J. Tisdale of Salters; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren.
JOHN JOE -- Funeral services for John B. Joe, conducted by Rev. Edward McLeod, were held Sat. Sept. 18, 2004, at Wilson United Methodist Church in Greeleyville. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed in Rockyford Cemetery. Mr. Joe, 77, died Mon., Sept. 13, 2004, at his home in Greeleyville. He was born in Greeleyville, a son of the late Mrs. Lorene Keels Joe and Mr. Lee Joe. He was a member of Wilson United Methodist Church, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent. He was employed as a machine operator on the railroad. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Celia Dotts Joe of Greeleyville; three sons, John Joe, Jr., of Greeleyville, Larry Joe of Hinesville, Georgia, and Matthew Williams of Troy, New York; one daughter, Mrs. Ruby M. Joe of Greeleyville; five brothers, James Joe and Alberta Davis, both of Greeleyville, Benjamin Joe of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Cornelius Joe of Brookville and Nathaniel Joe of Patterson, New Jersey; six sisters, Mrs. Louise Johnson and Mrs. Bobby Jean, both of Greeleyville, Mrs. Mary McFadden of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Celie Murray and Mrs. Thomasena Dukes, both of Troy, New York, and Mrs. Vigaree Mitchell of Bronx, New York; and eight grandchildren.
ROBERT CONYERS -- Funeral services for Rev. Robert Lee Conyers, conducted by Rev. Harry Robinson, were held on Sat., Sept. 18, 2004, at St. John Baptist Church in Greeleyville. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at St. John Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Conyers, 81, died Tues., Sept. 14, 2004, in McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence. He was born Aug. 21, 1923, in Kingstree, a son of the late Mrs. Mattie Pendergrass. He was raised by his grandparents, the late Mackie and Lizzie Conyers. Rev. Conyers traveled across the country during his lifetime and worshiped faithfully wherever he lived. His Christian journey began at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Salters. While living in Charleston, he worshiped at the Ebenezer Baptist Church and served on the Usher Board. After moving to Hollendale, Florida, he served as a Deacon Steward and class leader of the Methodist faith. He served as president of the United Organization of Ministers in Hartford, Connecticut. In Springfield, Massachusetts, he founded St. John's Baptist Church. At the time of his passing, he was affiliated with Upon This Rock Church Ministries in Greeleyville. He was married to Mrs. Lula Chavis and Mrs. Hattie Mae Johnson. Survivors are: six daughters, Mrs. Nealie Brewington of Columbia, Ruby L. Conyers of Kingstree, Mrs. Beverly Conyers of New Haven, Connecticut, Mrs. Gloria Conyers-Mutts of Concord, North Carolina, and Mrs. Alice Conyers and Mrs. Mattie Lou Conyers, both of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; two sons, Robert Conyers, Jr., of Douglasville, Georgia, and Kenneth Conyers of New Haven, Connecticut; and two sisters, Mrs. Eartherline Robinson of Greeleyville and Mrs. Lucile Brantley of New Haven, Connecticut.
GEORGE CANNON, JR. -- George H. (Jeepy) Cannon, Jr., 64, husband of Audrey Perry Cannon, died Mon., Sept. 13, 2004, at his residence. Funeral services were held Thurs., Sept. 16, 2004, at Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Cannon was born in Williamsburg County, a son of Mellie and George H. Cannon, Sr. He attended Williamsburg County schools and was a former employee of Kingstree Union Stockyard. Survivors are: his wife of Kingstree, one son, Rusty Cannon of Andrews; one daughter, Vanessa Cannon Babineaux of Rayne, Louisiana; five brothers, Manuel Cannon, Vernon Cannon, Johnny Cannon, Larry Cannon and Ronnie Cannon; and five grandchildren.
QUEEN McFADDEN -- Funeral services for Mrs. Queen Ester Gamble McFadden, conducted by Rev. Joseph D. Ricks, will be held Sat., Sept. 25, 2004, at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Salters. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, will follow at Crossroads Cemetery in Salters. Mrs. McFadden, 77, a retired private duty home care nurse, died Tues., Sept. 14, 2004, at the Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. Mrs. McFadden, a daughter of the late Dea. Joe Gamble and Carnelia Chavis Gamble, was born April 9, 1927, in Williamsburg County and received her formal education in the public schools of the county. She was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She was married to the late Alburtus McFadden, Sr. Survivors are: seven daughters, Frazella McFadden, Elizabeth McFadden, Mrs. Betty Jean Woodson, Mrs. Evelyn McNeil, Amelia McFadden and Mrs. Veola Clark, all of Philadelphia, Pennsyl-vania; and Barbara Ann McFadden of Salters; five sons, Alburtus 'Columbus' McFadden, Jr., Alonzo McFadden, Freeman McFadden, Alfred McFadden and Johnny McFadden, all of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Rosenia Murray of Salters and Betty Lou Bradshaw of Greeley-ville; two brothers, Willie Gamble of Salters and Arthur "D.L." Gamble of Brooklyn, New York; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
WILLARD McFADDEN, JR. -- Funeral services for Willard "Bunk" Dean McFadden, Jr., conducted by Rev. Oliver Davis, were held Wed., Sept. 22, 2004, at Oak Grove A.M.E. Church in Lake City. Burial, directed by Samuels and Richardson Funeral Home, followed at the New McFadden Cemetery in Olanta. Mr. McFadden, 56, died Sat., Sept. 18, 2004, at his residence in Olanta. He was born Feb. 12, 1948, in Olanta, a son of Mrs. Nancy McFadden and the late Willard Dean Frierson, Sr. He attended the public schools of Florence County. He was a member of Oak Grove A.M.E. Church. Survivors, in addition to his mother of the home, are: his wife, Mrs. Sandra McFadden of West Palm Beach, Florida; four sisters, Mrs. Anense Thomas, Mrs. Effie Dell Burgess, Gloria Wheeler and Pastor Minnie Pearl Johnson, all of Olanta; and a host of children and grandchildren.
LOURINA BRADLEY -- Mrs. Lourina Brown Bradley, 84, died Mon., July 26, 2004, at the Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning. Funeral services for Mrs. Bradley were held Fri., July 30, 2004, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Kingstree. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at the cemetery at the Kingdom Hall. Mrs. Bradley was born Dec. 17, 1919, in Greeleyville, a daughter of the late William Brown and Sally Whack Brown. She received her formal education in the public schools of Williamsburg County. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovahıs Witnesses. She was married to the late Isaac Bradley. Survivors are: one daughter, Mrs. Ethel Mitchell of the home; three sons, Robert Bradley of Kingstree; Calvin Bradley of Ridgeville; and Frank Bradley of the home; one sister, Mrs. Jannie Lou Bell of New Bern, North Carolina; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
LEROY GINN -- Funeral services for Leroy Ginn, conducted by Bishop Roosevelt Fulton and Rev. Thomas C. Bell, were held Tues., July 27, 2004, at Evangelistic Temple Way of the Cross. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at Greenlawn Cemetery. Mr. Ginn, 32, died Thurs., July 22, 2004, at McLeod Regional Hospital in Florence. He was born May 23, 1972, in Baltimore, Maryland, a son of the late Roy Ginn and Louise Cunningham Ginn DeCoster. He attended the public schools of Williamsburg County and graduated from Kingstree Senior High School in 1990. He was a member of Mt. Moriah Holiness Church of Kingstree, where he sang with the adult choir. He was employed as a department manager at Wal-Mart of Hartsville. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Chandra Grant Ginn of the home; two sons, Javien MacKenzie Ginn and Brian Jamal Hines, both of the home; one daughter, Clarissa Ginn of Columbia; his step-father, Elder Willie DeCoster, Sr., of Kingstree; his grandmother, Mrs. Elouise C. Jenkins of Kingstree; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Karen Mumford of Florence; and his father-in-law, Eddie Grant, Jr., of Florence.
