Posted By: GenealogyBuff.com TYRONE HOLT -- Funeral services for Tyrone "Ty" Holt, conducted by the Rev. Standy McCray, were held Sat., Nov. 6, 2004, at North Kingstree Baptist Church in Kingstree. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at Kingstree Cemetery. Mr. Holt died Tues., Nov. 2, 2004, at the Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia. He was born July 6, 1970, in Williamsburg County, a son of Mrs. Mary E. Montgomery and the late Emmanuel 'Bubba' Montgomery. He attended and received his formal education in the public schools of Williamsburg County. He was a member of the First Nazareth Baptist Church in Columbia. He was employed for several years as an assistant manager of Arbyıs in Myrtle Beach and Charleston. Survivors, in addition to his mother of Columbia, are: two brothers, Levern Fulton of Kings-tree and Emanuel Rico Montgomery of Columbia; two step-brothers, Clyde Lee Montgomery of Hyattsville, Maryland, and George Montgomery of Baltimore, Mary-land; two sisters, Jennifer Fulton of Kingstree and Mrs. Hazel Gadson of Columbia; and one step-sister, Nancy Montgomery of Washington, D.C.
LELA NORMAN -- Funeral services for Mrs. Lela Mae Norman, conducted by Pastor Curtis Brockington and Apostle J. Bernard McCray, were held Wed., Nov. 3, 2004, at Clauddie Henryhand Memorial Chapel in Kingstree. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at Kingstree Cemetery. Mrs. Norman died Fri., Oct. 29, 2004, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence. She was born Oct. 7, 1950, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Bobby McKnight and Caretha Brockington McKnight. She attended the public schools of Williamsburg County and graduated from Tomlinson High School, class of 1968. Upon graduating from high school she entered the United States Army and served her country faithfully and was honorably discharged. She was a member of The Church of Faith Jesus Christ in Kingstree. She was employed for many years as a supervisor at Quality Inn Resorts in Myrtle Beach. Survivors are: two sons, Edward McKnight of Spartanburg and David Terell McKnight of the home; one brother, Bobby McKnight of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; her grandmother, Mrs. Ella Blythe of Cincinnati, Ohio; and four grandchildren.
JESSIE BOARDS, JR. -- Funeral services for Jessie Boards, Jr., conducted by Dr. Elder Linwood Cooper, were held Mon., Nov. 1, 2004, at Trinity Believers Holiness Church in Kingstree. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at Kennedyville United Methodist Churchyard Cemetery in Nesmith. Mr. Boards died Wed., Oct. 27, 2004, at Carolinas Hospital System-Lake City. He was born March 22, 1942, in Kingstree, a son of the late Jessie Boards, Sr., and Geneva McCrea Boards. He was married to the late Mary Lee Morris Boards. He attended Brown High School in Williamsburg County and later graduated from New York Technical College in Brooklyn, New York. He worked as a farmer in his early years in Nesmith. He relocated to Brooklyn, New York, where he was employed by Miamonides Medical Center for 22 years, where he was director of facility and equipment maintenance and housekeeping. Survivors are: two daughters, Dorothy L. Boards and Jessica Marie Boards; two sons, Jackie Boards and Alphonso Boards; his mother-in-law, Virginia Morris; his companion, Cynthia Heron; brothers and sisters, Mrs. Lillie Dowling, Mrs. Janie McCrea, Harry L. Boards, Nyota Muhammad, Bessie M. Pressley and Shirley J. Boards; and four grandchildren.
RODEAN TISDALE -- Funeral services for Mrs. Rodean Wilson Tisdale, conducted by Rev. Samuel B. Cooper and Pastor J.W. Wilson, were held Mon., Nov. 1, 2004, at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Salters. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at St. Mary A.M.E. Churchyard Cemetery in Salters. Mrs. Tisdale died Thurs., Oct. 28, 2004, at the home of her parents. She was born July 13, 1946, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of David and Sylvia Wilson. She attended the public schools of Williamsburg County. She graduated from Williamsburg Technical College with a certificate in CNA. She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Usher Board, Senior Choir and Youth Sunday school teacher. She was married to Clarence McCullough in 1962 and later married George Tisdale in 1998. Survivors, in addition to her parents, are: her husband, George Tisdale of Salters; six sisters, Betty Mention, Marie Robinson, Angela Gibson and Thenthy Anderson, all of Salters, David Ann White of Andrews, Novie Ann Adams of Baltimore, Maryland, and Mary Felder of Lane; one brother, Pastor John Wesley Wilson of Salters; four that were reared as her sisters and brother, Evelyn Green, Francil Wilson, Melissa Burroughs and Terris Wilson; her mother-in-law, Mrs. Jannie Tisdale; two adopted sisters, Bernetha Maxwell and Maggie Chisolm, and three grandchildren.
JAMES ALLEN, JR. -- James Linder (Jimmy) Allen, Jr., 71, died Wed., Dec. 1, 2004, at his residence. Funeral services were held at the graveside on Fri., Dec. 3, 2004, in Williamsburg Cemetery, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mr. Allen was born in Williamsburg County, a son of Theresa Elaine Mims Allen and the late James L. Allen, Sr. He was a graduate of Williamsburg County Schools and Southern Missionary College in College Dale, Tennessee. Mr. Allen was an army veteran and ran his own carpentry business. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Survivors, in addition to his mother of Kingstree, are; three sisters, Donna McCutchen of Sumter, Faye McGrew of Charleston, and Carole Linder of Walterboro; and three brothers, Milton Allen and Keith Allen, both of Florence, and Charles Allen of Summerville.
GARDENIA PASLEY -- Funeral services for Mrs. Gardenia P. Wilson Pasley, conducted by Rev. Willie Bryant, were held Mon., Dec. 6, 2004, at Union Missionary Baptist Church No. 1 in Salters. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at Rockyford Cemetery. Mrs. Pasley, 67, died Thurs., Dec. 2, 2004, at her residence. She was born March 15, 1937, a daughter of the late David Shaw and Susie Mae Wilson and her stepfather, the late Earnest Wilson. She attended and graduated from Williamsburg County Training School (WCT), now known as C.E. Murray High School, in 1955. She also graduated from Central School of Nursing in Roosevelt Island, New York, in 1961. Mrs. Pasley was employed by Morrasina City Hospital in Bronx, New York, for seven years. She then worked at Baxter Laboratory, Lane Head Start and Williamsburg Memorial Hospital now known as Williamsburg Regional Hospital, from which she retired. Survivors are: her husband, Jeff Pasley, Jr., of the home; one daughter, Susan D. Culver of Salters; two step-daughters, Mrs. Arnette Allert and Felicia Pasley; three sisters, Francis Penn, Mrs. Roberta Broughton and Mrs. Nancy Moore; special sister, Mrs. Louise Hutchinson; and nine grandchildren.
JAMES TYLER, JR. James Larry (Jamie) Tyler, Jr., 30, died Sun., Nov. 28, 2004, in Kingstree. Graveside funeral services were held Fri., Dec. 3, 2004, at McClary Cemetery. Mr. Tyler was born in Florence County, a son of Evelyn Strong Tyler and the late James L. Tyler, Sr. He was an employee of the Best Western Hotel in Pawleys Island and was a member of the band "No More Deals." Survivors, in addition to his mother of Kingstree, are: one sister, Shannon T. Brown of Kingstree, and several aunts and uncles. The family asks that memorials be made to Millwood United Methodist Church or to the Millwood Community House.
KENNETH ALLEN KENNEDY -- Kenneth Allen Kennedy, 52, died Sat., Dec. 4, 2004, at his residence. Graveside funeral services were held Mon., Dec. 6, 2004, in New Zion United Methodist Cemetery, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mr. Kennedy was born Aug. 12, 1952, in Clarendon County, a son of L. Kenneth and Lois Corbett Kennedy. He was a graduate of Kingstree Senior High School and was retired after 25 years with Suburban Propane Gas Co. He was a member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. Survivors, in addition to his parents, are: his wife, Marilyn Duke Kennedy; one son, Gregory Allen Kennedy; one daughter, Michelle K. Shearer; one sister, Fay K. Benton of New Zion; two brothers, Kenneth Alvin Kennedy of Manning and Lucas Dale Kennedy of Tennessee; and three grandchildren.
JULIOUS HEYWARD -- Funeral services for Julious Heyward, conducted by the Rev. L.W. Walker, were held Wed., Dec. 29, 2004, at Good Hope Baptist Church in Greeleyville. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Heyward, 85 died Fri., Dec. 24, 2004, at his home in Greeleyville. He was born on John's Island on June 27, 1919, a son of the late Mr. Prince and Mrs. Josephine Heyward. He was formerly employed as a welder with Georgia Pacific Industries. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Bessie Heyward of Greeleyville; two step-sons, William Quarles of Charleston and General Lee Kells of New York; one step-daughter, Mrs. Linda Quarles of Charleston; and 10 step grandchildren.
SAMUEL DUKES -- Funeral services for Samuel Dukes, Jr., conducted by the Rev. Clifford Levine and the Rev. L.W. Walker, were held Fri., Dec. 31, 2004, at Bethel A.M.E. Church in Lane. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed in McKnight Cemetery. Mr. Dukes, 81, died Sat., Dec. 25, 2004, in Kingstree Nursing Home in Kingstree. He was born March 12, 1923, in Lane, a son of the late Mary Conyers Dukes and Samuel Dukes, Sr. He was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church and served as a Trustee. He later transferred his membership to Good Hope Baptist Church. He was formerly employed by Georgia Pacific Industries. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Mary Murray Dukes of Lane; six sons, Timothy Dukes and Moses Dukes, both of Greeleyville, Aaron Dukes of Lane, Herbert Lee Dukes of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Leroy Dukes of Kingstree, and Leroy Salters of St. Stephen; five daughters, Mrs. Bettye Christian of Akron, Ohio, Mrs. Wilhemenia Joyner and Mrs. Rosanna Gamble both of Lane, Mrs. Sandra Scott and Mrs. Carolyn Gillians both of St. Stephen; five stepdaughters and seven stepsons; 43 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchilren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
