Posted By: GenealogyBuff.com MARY LYNCH -- Mrs. Mary Frances Webster Lynch, 96, widow of William S. "Willie" Lynch, died Thurs., Dec. 9, 2004. Graveside funeral services, directed by Brockington Funeral Home, were held Sat., Dec. 11, 2004, in Lake City Cemetery. Mrs. Lynch was born in Florence County, the daughter of the late William Albert and Angie Kirby Webster. She was a homemaker and member of Lake City First Baptist Church. Survivors are: two sons, William S. "Billy" Lynch, III, and James Carlisle "Jimmie" Lynch, Sr., both of Lake City; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Memorials may be made to Lake City First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 820, Lake City, SC 29560. ADELE LONG Mrs. Adele Graham Long, 80, widow of Ralph Rudolph "Rudy" Long, died Fri., Dec. 10, 2004. Graveside funeral services, directed by Brockington Funeral Home, were held Sun., Dec. 12, 2004, in Graham Cemetery in Cades. Mrs. Long was born in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late John James McBride Graham and Anna Rebecca Patterson Graham. She was a graduate of Indiantown High School and attended Columbia College. She was a former schoolteacher and housewife. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lake City. Survivors are: one son, Jimmy Long of Lake City; one daughter, Becky L. Spivey of Simpsonville; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Sudden Care Hospice, 217 Dozier Blvd., Suite 201, Florence, SC 29501, or the charity of one's choice.
RUSSELL AMMONS, JR. -- Russell Lowell Ammons, Jr., 71, husband of Harriet C. Ammons, died Fri., Dec. 10, 2004, in a Calhoun, Georgia, hospital. Funeral services were held Mon., Dec. 13, 2004, at Bible Temple Church in Coward. Burial, directed by Brockington Funeral Home, followed in St. Paul United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. Ammons was born in Horry County, a son of the late Russell Lowell Ammons, Sr., and Blanche McDaniel Ammons. He was a graduate of Green Sea High School and Kings Business School. He was a self employed salesman and a member of Bible Temple. Survivors, in addition to his wife of Coward, are: one son, Russell L. Ammons, III, of Raleigh, North Carolina; one daughter, Becky Thompson of Raleigh, North Carolina; two step-sons, Terry McElveen of Lexington and Jonathan White of Coward; two sisters, Margaret Hayes of Nichols and Dorothy Connelly of Mt. Pleasant; three grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bible Temple Church, P.O. Box 280, Coward, S.C. 29530.
MARY FULTON -- Funeral services for Mrs. Mary York Fulton, conducted by Rev. Jerome Wilson, were held on Tues. Dec. 7, 2004, at Greater Bethel AME Church. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed in Kingstree Cemetery. Mrs. Fulton died Wed., Dec. 1, 2004, at her residence. She was born Aug. 10, 1910, in Salters, a daughter of the late Esom and Susan York. She received her formal education in the public school of Williamsburg County. She was married to Elmore Fulton, Sr. She was a member of Greater Bethel AME Church in Kingstree. Survivors are: three sons, Elmore Fulton, Jr., and James Fulton, both of Kingstree, and Leroy Fulton of Florence; seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
HENRY WILSON -- Funeral services for Henry Moses Wilson, conducted by Rev. Herbert Godwin, were held Thurs., Dec. 23, 2004, at Wilson Chapel First Missionary Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed in the churchyard cemetery. Mr. Wilson, 75, died Sun., Dec. 19, 2004, in Florence. He was born Aug. 30, 1929, in Lake City, a son of the late Riley Wilson and Lela Elsie Jones Wilson. He was married to the late Mrs. Mary Ann Fulmore Wilson. He was a lifelong farmer. Survivors are: one son, Eddie Wilson of Bennettsville; three daughters, Mrs. Annie Ruth Lee of Kingstree, Mrs. Emma Leech of San Diego, California, and Mrs. Jessie Mae Wilson of Lake City; one sister, Mrs. Betty Duffie of Marlboro, New Jersey; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
JOHN MITCHELL -- John Clinton "Mitch" Mitchell, 48, husband of Lanette Austin Mitchell, died Mon., Dec. 20, 2004, at his residence. Funeral services were held Thurs., Dec. 23, 2004, at Brockington Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, directed by Brockington Funeral Home, followed at Lake City Memorial Park. Mr. Mitchell was born in Aiken, a son of Betty Yarborough Timmons and the late Billy E. "Bobby" Mitchell, Sr. He was a graduate of Lake City High School and Florence Darlington Technical College. While in the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Mitchell was a survival instructor. He was retired from Hildreath Mechanical of Lumberton, North Carolina. He attended Crossway Church in Florence and was a member of the Coward Masonic Lodge. Survivors, in addition to his mother of Salters and his wife of Florence, are: two sons, Joshua Eugene Williams of Gaffney and Tony Thames of Florence; one daughter, Samantha Jones of Darlington; his step-father, Tim Timmons of Salters; two brothers, Billy Edward Mitchell, Jr., of Georgetown and Charles Oneal Mitchell of Lake City; one sister, Sabrina Tanner of Florence; two step-brothers, Julius Timmons, III, of Camden, North Carolina, and Sonny Phillips of McClellanville; and a special brother, Bruce Coward of Darlington. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 1927 Candy Lane, Surfside Beach, SC 29575 or American Cancer Society, 950-48th Avenue North, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.
EDWARD VAUSE -- Edward Morgan "Papa" Vause, 72, husband of Harriett V. Vause, died Fri., Dec. 24, 2004, at his residence. Funeral services were held Mon., Dec. 27, 2004 at the Hemingway First Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home, followed at Ebenezer Cemetery. Mr. Vause was born in Kingstree, a son of the late Edward M. and Lena Alma Haddock Vause. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force and was a member of The Moose Lodge of Kingstree, the Kingstree Masonic Lodge and Hemingway First Baptist Church. Survivors, in addition to his wife of the home, are: six daughters, April Fryar-Vause and Kem Poston, both of Hemingway, Jimmie Ann Mercer of Savannah, Georgia, E.L. "Boots" Landry and Mary E. "Snoots" Ward of Biloxi, Mississippi, and Sherrie Ann Vause of Shreveport, Louisiana; one son, Edward M. "Ted" Vause of Myrtle Beach; two sisters, Ethel Lena Thompson and Mary Frances Kennedy, both of Kingstree; and nine grandchildren.
LUCILLE CUNNINGHAM -- Lucille Fountain Cunningham, 90, widow of Samuel Martin Cunningham, died Thurs., Dec. 23, 2004, in the Presbyterian Home at Summerville. Funeral services were held Mon., Dec. 27, 2004, in the Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed in Kingstree Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Cunningham was born March 3, 1914, in Gordon, Georgia, a daughter of the late Harvey and Mae Wood Fountain. She attended Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville and was a retired school teacher, having taught in several Williamsburg County schools. She was a member of Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, where she kept the nursery for more than 50 years. Survivors are: one daughter, Eleanor C. McCrackin of Hanahan; one son, Stuart H. Cunningham of Singer Island, Florida; one sister, Anna Pearl Collier of Georgia; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Williamsburg Presbyterian Church.
L.C. STONE, JR. -- Mr. Lonnie Clarendon (L.C.) Stone, Jr., 63, died Sun., Dec. 26, 2004, at McLeod Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held Tues., Dec. 28, 2004, at Midway Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home, followed at Midway Cemetery. Mr. Stone was born in Hemingway, a son of Lonnie Clarendon Stone, Sr., and Olene Cribb Stone. He was a Hemingway High School graduate, a lifelong member of Midway Baptist Church, commissioned a Kentucky Colonel in July 1975, past-president and member of Williamsburg Farm Bureau (25 years), member of Hemingway Lions Club, Farmer of the Year in 1985 in Williamsburg County, and treasurer of the Winyah Cruisers. Survivors are: his wife, Marjorie Ann Wilder Stone of the home; his children, Daniel Clarendon Stone of Columbia and Marjorie Lynn Stone Smith of North Myrtle Beach; three sisters, Viola Stone Cribb of Spartanburg, Viva Nell Stone Wilson of Lexington and Norma Jean Stone Miller of Pamplico; and two grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Midway Baptist Church, 756 Baptist Road, Hemingway, SC 29554, or to Johnsonville Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1021, Johnsonville, SC 29555.
WILLIE FLAGLER -- Funeral services for Willie Flagler, conducted by Rev. Griffin, were held Tues., Jan. 18, 2005, at Bethel United Methodist Church in Kingstree. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed in the churchyard cemetery. Mr. Flagler, 81, died Wed., Jan. 12, 2005, at his residence. He was born April 12, 1923, a son of the late Cobert Flagler and Emma Chandler Flagler. He was educated in the public schools of Williamsburg County. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, where he served as a member of the Senior Choir, Pastor Parish Relations Committee, Trustee Board member, NAACP, founding member of the Thorngate Civic of White Plains, New York, organizer of the West Chester Heavy Laborers Union Local No. 6, Williamsburg Political Action Committee Council, Administra-tive Council member and Prince Hall Free Masons No. 237. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Mattie Flagler of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Flossie Flagler Fulton of Dalzell; one adopted daughter, Rosa Watson of Florence; one grandson, one adopted granddaughter, six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
RUTH FULTON -- Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Naomi Fulton, conducted by Rev. James Carter and Rev. Amos Matthews, were held Mon., Jan.17, 2005, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Greeleyville. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed in the churchyard cemetery. Mrs. Fulton, 62, died Thurs., Jan. 6, 2005, at University Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. She was born July 11, 1942, in Salters, a daughter of the late Lonnie Fulton and Addie Fulton. Survivors are: two sons, William Quentin Watts and Terren Quincy Watts, both of Baltimore, Maryland; one brother, Lonnie Keith Fulton of Baltimore, Maryland; four sisters, Addie Bell Cross, Eliza Ann Fulton, Emily Butler and Lila Helen Fulton, all of Baltimore, Maryland; one aunt, Lila McClary of Salters; one uncle, Thomas McClary of Salters; and two grandchildren.
