Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed in Jerusalem Church Cemetery. Mr. Sabb, 55, died Wed., Jan. 12, 2005, in Williamsburg Regional Hospital. He was born July 30, 1949, in Lane, a son of the late James Edwards Sabb, Sr., and Pearl Hilton Sabb. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was employed by Seaboard Coastline Railroad, Huger Trucking, Brown & Rowe, Oneita Textiles, Williamsburg Technical College and M.A. Hanna. He was a lifelong member of Greater Jerusalem AME Church, where he was a member of the trustee board and assistant leader of Class Number Four. He was a member of the Santee Social Club, the Consistory No. 330 of Kingstree, the 2nd King Soloman Consistory No. 330 of Kingstree and 1st Square Deal No. 448 of Kingstree. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Hallie McGill Sabb of the home; four children, James Sabb, III, and Dominique Sabb, both of the home, Charlene Beaufort of Andrews and Tracie Sabb of Columbia; five brothers, Eddie Jerome Sabb of Andrews, Benjamin Sabb of Suitland, Maryland, Thaddeus Sabb of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, L.J. Sabb and Lisbon Sabb, both of Columbia; six sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Burton of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Pearline Brown of New Haven, Connecticut, Beatrice Alberta Conyers of Hollywood, Florida, Mrs. Vernell Smith of Durham, North Carolina, Mrs. Norma Jean Sabb of Kingstree and Mrs. Inez Rich of Myrtle Beach; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Eliza McGill of Andrews; and three grandchildren.
JANNIE NELSON -- Funeral services for Mrs. Jannie Margaret Frazier Nelson, conducted by Rev. Ernest Scott, were held Sat., Jan. 22, 2005, at Black River Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at Crossroad Cemetery. Mrs. Nelson, 60, died Fri., Jan. 14, 2005, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning. She was educated in the public schools of Williamsburg County. She was a member of Black River Baptist Church, where she served as a missionary, president of the Kitchen Committee and president of Black River Gospel Choir. At an early age, Mrs. Nelson was a member of the Sunset Four Juniors, where she sang with her siblings. She was also the mother of the Nelson Brothers Gospel Singers in Greeleyville. Survivors are: her husband, Curlee Nelson, Sr., of the home; five sons, Robert Nelson, Sylvester Nelson, Curtis Nelson, Carl Nelson and Curlee Nelson, Jr., of Greeleyvlle; one daughter, Jeanette Nelson of Greeleyville; 10 brothers, Esau J. Frazier, Jr., Arthur Frazier, Moses Frazier and Frankie Frazier, all of Hollywood, Florida, Levern Frazier, Jimmy Frazier and Raleigh Frazier, all of Salters, Eddie Harrison of Tampa, Florida, Clifton Frazier of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Julius Frazier of Trio; nine sisters, Margie Daniels of Sanford, Florida, Jeanette Frazier of Atlanta, Georgia, Mrs. Linda Hughee of Kingstree, Mrs. Sylvia Frazier Hunter of Hollywood, Florida, Virginia F. Hardman of Decatur, Georgia, Mrs. Janie McCray of Greensboro, North Carolina, Mrs. Audrey Antoine of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Mrs. Mary F. Doe of Charleston and Mrs. Deloris Young of Salters; and nine grandchildren.
CLARA PALMER -- Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Edyth Beverly Palmer, conducted by Rev. Carl Shaw, were held Thurs., Jan. 20, 2005, at Charity Baptist Church in the Suttons Community. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed in Charity Church Cemetery. Mrs. Palmer, 86, died Sat., Jan. 15, 2005, at Waccamaw Communi-ty Center in Murrells Inlet. She was the daughter of the late Spencer Beasley and Hanna Frazier Beasley. She was a member of Charity Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Senior Choir and served as Sunday School Treasurer. She later became a member of St. Peters Baptist Church after marriage. She later reaffiliated herself with Charity Baptist Church. She was married to the late Rev. Primas Palmer, Sr. Survivors are: four sons, Windell Palmer and Bobby Lee Palmer, both of Brooklyn, New York, Steven Palmer of Columbia and Howard Palmer of Charlotte, North Carolina; one daughter, Mrs. Sarah Bradshaw of Andrews; 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
MOTTIE COOPER -- Funeral services for Mottie "Sonny Boy" Cooper, conducted by Rev. Roosevelt Geddis, were held Sat., Jan. 22, 2005, at St. John United Methodist Church in Lake City. Burial, directed by Samuels and Richardson Funeral Home, followed at the New St. John Church Cemetery in Lake City. Mr. Cooper, 68, died Tues., Jan. 18, 2005, at Carolinas Hospital System-Lake City. He was born Dec. 18, 1936, in Florence County, a son of the late Albert Cooper, Sr., and Juanita Singletary Cooper. He attended the public schools of Florence County. He was a lifelong farmer and a member of St. John United Methodist Church. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Mary Alice Graham Cooper of the home; two sons, Anthony Cooper of the home and Randolph Cooper of Lake City; two daughters, Mrs. Pauline Spates of Myrtle Beach and Sylvia Burgess of Lake City; a brother, Levarn Cooper of Lake City; three sisters, Ruby Cooper of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Corine Washington of Lake City and Mrs. Shirley Smith of Lynchburg; and 14 grandchildren.
MOSE BROWN -- Funeral services for Mose Brown, conducted by Rev. Roosevelt Geddis, were held Fri., Jan. 21, 2005, at St. John United Methodist Church in Lake City. Burial, directed by Samuels and Richardson Funeral Home, followed at New St. John Church Cemetery in Lake City. Mr. Brown, 58, died Sat., Jan. 15, 2005, in Scranton. He was born Jan. 4, 1947, in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Joshua 'Keller' Brown, Sr., and Sallie Robinson Brown. He attended the public schools of Williamsburg County. He retired from APAC in Darlington after many years. He was a member of St. John United Methodist Church. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Barbara Ann McFadden Brown of the home; four sons, Moses Brown of Scranton, Derwin Brown of Savannah, Georgia, and Dwayne Brown and Davion Brown, both of the home; four daughters, Carla Elaine Brown Brayboy, Rachel Washington and Christina Brown, all of Lake City, and Shelia Brown of the home; additional children Mose Edward Brown, Rodrick Brown, Sally Brown, Evelyn Brown and Ashley Brown, all of Lake City; a foster son, Nazearth Alston of the home; seven sisters, Mrs. Hester Eaddy and Mary Brown, both of Scranton, Mrs. Alberta Gamble, Mrs. Emma McKenzie, Mrs. Annie Lee Carson, Debra Ann Brown and Tammy Brown, all of Lake City, and Mrs. Mary White of Bronx, New York; four brothers, Joseph Brown of Coward, Leo Brown of Pamplico and Willie Brown and Joshua "Keller" Brown, Jr., both of North Carolina; 15 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
MARY JOY -- Mary Eleanor "Ronnie" Joy, 86, died Mon., Jan. 10, 2005, at her residence. Funeral services were held in Globe, Arizona. Mrs. Joy was born May 6, 1918, in Loogootee, Indiana, a daughter of the late Charles and Ella Seal Lee. She was a veteran of World War II and was the former proprietor of the Red Roan Saloon and the Pinal Mountain Steakhouse in Globe, Arizona. Mrs. Joy had made her home in Kingstree for the past several years, living with her niece. Survivors are: three nieces, Mrs. Elizabeth Book of Kingstree, Mrs. Joan Harris of Evansville, Indiana, and Mrs. Sandy Ripperger of Greenwood, Indiana.
JUNE KELLY -- June Helen Kelly, 71, died Sun., Jan. 16, 2005, in a Sumter hospital. Graveside funeral services, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, were held Tues., Jan. 18, 2005, at Williamsburg Cemetery. Miss Kelly was born March 28, 1933, in Laurinburg, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Willie Epps and Henry Myrover Kelly. Surviving is one brother, Henry McLeod Kelly of Kingstree. Memorials may be made to Sumter County Disabilities and Special Needs Board or the Kingstree United Methodist Church.
ERNEST COOK -- Ernest Lee Cook, 57, died Thurs., Jan. 20, 2005, in a Florence hospital. Funeral services were held Sat. Jan. 22, 2005, at Friendfield Pentecostal Holiness church. Burial, directed by Brockington Funeral Home, followed in the churchyard cemetery. Mr. Cook was born in Florence County, a son of Roland Cook and the late Linnie Mae Horne. He was a retired truck driver and attended Friendfield Pentecostal Holiness Church. Survivors, in addition to his father of Scranton, are: his wife, Ollie Matthews Cook of Pamplico; two sons, Ernest Lee Cook, Jr., and Stacey Cook, both of Florence; and seven grandchildren.
MATTIE WILSON -- Funeral services for Mattie Lou Anderson Wilson, conducted by Rev. Clay L. Barrow, were held Tues., Jan. 25, 2005, at Mt. Zion AME Church in Greeleyville. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at the churchyard cemetery. Mrs. Wilson, 75, died Thurs., Jan. 20, 2005, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning. She was born Jan. 22, 1929, in Greeleyville, a daughter of the late Alex Anderson and Francis Oliver Anderson. She was a member of Mt. Zion AME Church, where she served as a missionary and choir member. She was married to the late Ernest Wilson. Survivors are: one sister, Mrs. Virginia Anderson Williams of Westbury, New York; two nieces she reared, Mrs. Ruth A. Kennedy of Westbury, New York, and Ernestine Keels of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and a host of other nieces and nephews.
LURLINE FRIERSON -- Funeral services Lurline Pressley Frierson, conducted by Rev. Sam Livingston, were held Mon., Jan. 24, 2005, at Antioch Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed in the churchyard cemetery. Mrs. Frierson, 76, died Wed., Jan. 19, 2005, in Fayette Community Hospital in Fayetteville, Georgia. She was born July 9, 1926, a daughter of the late Lawrence Pressley and Alice Williams Pressley. She was educated in the public schools of Williamsburg County and received her bacheloršs degree in education from Morris College. She was employed by Williams-burg County as an educator until she retired in 1988. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, where she served as treasurer for 25 years, choir member, usher and chairman of the Kitchen Committee. Survivors are: her husband, Willie Frierson of Kingstree; one son, Pernell Frierson of Lithonia, Georgia; three sisters, Mrs. Mary P. Gray of Norfolk, Virginia, Mrs. Flora P. Cooper of Kingstree and Mrs. Louise P. McFadden of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
