Posted By: GenealogyBuff.com ISIAH SHAW -- Funeral services for Isiah "Slim" Shaw, conducted by Rev. Frank V. James, were held Sun., Oct. 31, 2004, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Kingstree. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed in the churchyard cemetery. Mr. Shaw, 62, died Wed., Oct. 27, 2004, in Williamsburg County. He was born Aug. 3, 1942, in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Alton Tom Shaw and Mrs. Ruby Funny Shaw. He attended the public schools of Williamsburg County and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. He worked for many years with Coburg Milk and for 23 years with IGA/Red & White. Upon his illness, he worked faithfully for many years doing landscaping work. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Bernice Chavis Shaw of the home; one son, Issac Shaw of Myrtle Beach; three daughters, Dell June of Columbia; Vanessa Chavis and Latasha Shaw of Kingstree; five sisters, Mrs. Jannie Mae Brown, Queen Keels, Ernestine Thompson and Norma Jackson, all of Kingstree, and Minnie Funny Franklin of Marion; one brother, Paul Funny of Georgetown; and five grandchildren.
WILLIE BOYD -- Funeral services for Rev. Willie Filmore Boyd, conducted by Rev. Standy McCray, were held Tues., Nov. 2, 2004, at North Kingstree Baptist Church in Kingstree. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at Greenlawn Cemetery. Rev. Boyd, 76, died Fri., Oct. 29, 2004, in Williamsburg County. He was born Jan. 13, 1928, in Berkeley County, a son of the late Robert Boyd and Corine Scott Boyd. He was a member of North Kingstree Baptist Church. He was the associate minister of North Kingstree Baptist Church, which is affiliated with the Williamsburg County Missionary Baptist Association. He was employed by Bethlehem Steel in Sparrowpoint, Maryland. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Dorothy M. Wilson Boyd; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
GUYNELL MOORE -- Mrs. Guynell Baker Moore, 84, wife of the late Jack Doyt Moore, died Fri., Oct. 29, 2004, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. Graveside funeral services were held Sun., Oct. 31, 2004, at Hebron United Methodist Church Cemetery, directed by Brockington Funeral Home. Mrs. Moore was born in Kingstree, a daughter of the late Major and Susan DuBose Baker. She was a homemaker and member of Lake City United Methodist Church. Survivors are: one son, Randal R. Moore of Lake City; two sisters, Grace Baker of Cades and Fonza Orvin of St. Stephen; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
BARBARA OSBORNE -- Barbara Timmons Osborne, 69, wife of Harry J. Osborne, Sr., died Fri., Oct. 29, 2004, in a Florence hospital. Funeral services were held Mon., Nov. 1, 2004, at Williamsburg Funeral Home. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at Kingstree Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Osborne was born Sept. 27, 1935, in Salters, a daughter of Helen Scott Timmons and Julius A. Timmons, Sr. She was a graduate of Greeleyville High School, where she was captain of the girls' basketball team. Mrs. Osborne was the retired owner of Greeleyville Auto and Upholstery Shop. She was a member of Greeleyville United Methodist Church and was a Sunday school teacher for many years. Survivors are: her husband of Salters; two sons, Harry Osborne, Jr., of Jacksonville, Florida, and Chris G. Osborne of Salters; her sister, Mrs. Willis Galliher of Fernandina Beach, Florida; one brother, Julius A. Timmons, Jr., of Salters; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be made to Greeleyville United Methodist Church.
LILLIAN McINTOSH -- Mrs. Lillian W. McIntosh, 81, wife of Irwin M. McIntosh, died Sat., Oct. 30, 2004, in a Florence hospital. Funeral services were held Tues., Nov. 2, 2004, at Midway Presbyterian Church. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at the church cemetery. Mrs. McIntosh, born March 1, 1923, in Clarendon County, was a daughter of the late Robert Edward and Clarabell White Wheeler. She attended Winthrop College and taught school in Clarendon County. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution for over 50 years. Mrs. McIntosh was a member of Williamsburg Presbyterian Church and formerly a longtime member of Midway Presbyterian Church. Survivors, in addition to her husband, are: one son, Irwin McIntosh of Kingstree; three daughters, Jenny McIntosh of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Lill Edwards of Burke, Virginia, and Irma Kay of Mooresville, North Carolina; two sisters, Allyne Wheeler and Roberta Bradford of Sumter; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandsons. Memorials may be made to Williamsburg Presbyterian Church or Midway Presbyterian Church.
HENRY SMALL -- Mr. Henry Black Small, 80, of 2880 Spirit Road, Heath Springs, passed away Thurs., Jan. 27, 2005, at the Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born March 8, 1924, in the Rich Hill Community of Lancaster County, a son of the late Roy Otis Small and Orie Lea Black Small. A retired farmer and owner/operator of R.O. Small & Sons, he was a member of the Rich Hill Baptist Church, where he was formerly a Deacon, Superintendent of Sunday School, and Training Union Director. A World War II U.S. Navy Veteran, Mr. Small had served on the Aircraft Carrier USS Guadalcanal. A Mason, Mr. Small had been a member of the Fork Hill Lodge #316, where he was a Past Master. He had served his community on the Federal Land Bank and on the Production Credit Association. Always supportive of our youth, he had been a 4-H leader and a Boy Scout Master. Funeral services were held Mon., Jan. 31, 2005, at Rich Hill Baptist Church. Burial was held in Rich Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Small is survived by his wife, Mabel Ellis Brand Small; two sons, Keith Roy Small and his wife, Sheila, of Rock Hill, and Lee Olin Small of Lancaster; three daughters, Rachel DeLeslie Small Montgomery and her husband, Chuck, of Kingstree, MaeBeth Small Hinson and her husband, Kenzie, of Bakersfield, North Carolina, and Dorothy Lou Small and her husband, Phil Purpura, of Mobile, Alabama; a brother, James Ford Small of Heath Springs; three sisters, Jerrie Small Chewning of Florence, Martha Small Kirk of Easley, and Elisie Small McGill of Union; nine grandchildren, Martha Ann Small Truesdale and her husband, Shawn, Chad Henry Byrd, Elizabeth Marie Small Lundy and her husband, Michael, Andrew Joseph Small and his wife, Andrea, Amber Lee Small, Leah DeLeslie Montgomery, Kayla Ross Small, Shawn Hill and Kasey Hill; and four great-grandchildren, David Cole Truesdale, Jared Michael Truesdale, Taylor Ann Lundy and Charley Elizabeth Lundy. Memorials may be made to the Rich Hill Baptist Church, 1557 East Doc Garris Road, Health Springs, SC 29058.
GEORGE MONTGOMERY -- Funeral services for George Washington Montgomery, conducted by Rev. Clifford Levine, were held Sat., Jan. 29, 2005, at Bethel AME Church in Lane. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at Cowhead Cemetery. Mr. Montgomery, 85, died Tues., Jan. 25, 2005, at Williamsburg Regional Hospital in Kingstree. He was born on Oct. 25, 1922, a son of the late Enoch Montgomery and Amy McClorin Montgomery. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of Bethel AME Church in Lane. He was married to the late Mattie Lee Riggins Montgomery. Survivors are: two sons, Lucien Gamble and John Henry Gamble, both of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; one daughter, Mrs. Florine Brunson of Lane; two sisters, Mrs. Beulah Ragland of Florida and Mrs. Annie Mae Nelson of Brooklyn, New York; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
DIANNE CROSLAND -- Funeral services for Dianne R. Crosland were held Thurs., Jan. 27, 2005, at the Ott Funeral Home in Branchville. Burial, directed by Ott Funeral Home, followed in Ott Cemetery in Branchville. Mrs. Crosland, 57, died Tues., Jan. 25, 2005. She was born in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late George Dewey Rodgers and Bertha McClary Rodgers. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Kingstree and made her home in St. Matthews for the past 16 years. Survivors are: her husband, James E. Crosland; one daughter, Tanya Thompson of Atlanta, Georgia; one stepson, Trey Fox of Columbia; one stepdaughter, Charlotte Crosland of Charleston; two brothers, Andrew Rodgers and Shad Rodgers, both of Kingstree; and two sisters, Barbara Ward and Florence Rodgers, both of Kingstree. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
WILLIAM TISDALE, JR. -- Funeral services for William Tisdale, Jr., conducted by Rev. Dr. Herman Gibson, were held Thurs., Jan. 27, 2005, at New Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Kingstree. Burial, directed by Dim-ery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed in the churchyard cemetery. Mr. Tisdale, 64, died Sat., Jan. 22, 2005, in Williamsburg Regional Hospital in Kingstree. He was born Sept. 23, 1940, in Kingstree, a son of the late William Tisdale, Sr., and Mrs. Anna McKnight Tisdale. He was educated in the public schools of Williamsburg County. He was a farmer and a member of New Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Perlitha Jones Tisdale; three sons, Willie Tisdale, Jr., Gerald Tisdale and Phillip Tisdale, all of Kingstree; five daughters, Mrs. Fannie Mae Pressley, Cynthia Tisdale, Loretta Tisdale and Shannon Tisdale, all of Kingstree, and Mrs. Barbara Pressley of Andrews; two adopted daughters, Shirley Tisdale and Artheia Shaw, both of Kingstree; one sister, Louise Mae Shaw of Hollywood, Florida; 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
BARBARA WARD -- Mrs. Barbara Brown Ward, wife of Johnny Hugh Ward, died Sat., Jan. 29, 2005, at her residence. Funeral services were held Mon., Jan. 31, 2005, at Kingstree First Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at Kingstree Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Ward was born May 20, 1940, in Andrews, a daughter of the late R.K. and Geneva Lowder Brown. She was retired from Ward's Grocery and was a member of Kingstree First Baptist Church. Survivors, in addition to her husband of Kingstree, are: one son, Johnny H. Ward, Jr., of Kingstree; three daughters, Jennifer Heathcott of Kingstree, Jessica Ward of Garden City and Jeannie Ward of Kingstree; two brothers, Keith Brown of Manning and Stanley Brown of Cameron; and five grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Tidelands Community Hospice, 2591 N. Frasier Street, Georgetown, SC 29440.
