Posted By: GenealogyBuff.com ELOUSIE COOPER -- Funeral services for Mrs. Elouise Scott Cooper, conducted by Rev. Geneva Stafford, were held Sat., April 2, 2005, at Jeremiah United Methodist Church in Hemingway. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at James Swamp Cemetery in Hemingway. Mrs. Cooper, 62, died Thurs., March 31, 2005, at her home in Hemingway. She was born May 5, 1942, in Kingstree, a daughter of the late Nathan Scott and Mattie Louvenia Wilson Scott. During her formative years, she attended Williamsburg County public schools. She later graduated from Allen University in Sumter. She taught in the Williamsburg County public school system for 30 years and prior to her retirement taught at Cades Hebron High School and Hemingway High School. Survivors are: her husband, Ozzie Cooper of Hemingway; two brothers, Leroy Scott and Aldore Scott, both of Lake City; and two sisters, Hattie Lynn Pinckney and Lucretia Bailey, both of Florence.
KATHERINE McFADDEN -- Katherine Smith McFadden, 91, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Kingstree, died Wed., March 30, 2005, in Mt. Pleasant. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Mickey Bell, were held Sat., April 2, 2005, in Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel in Kingstree. Burial, directed by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, followed at Kingstree Memorial Gardens. Mrs. McFadden was born March 29, 1914, a daughter of the late Philip B. and Maude Reynolds Smith. She was a member of Kingstree United Methodist Church and retired from the U.S. Selective Service System after heading the Williamsburg County office for more than 20 years. She was married to the late McBride S. McFadden. Survivors are: her son, M. Scott McFadden, Jr., of Midlothian, Virginia; and one granddaughter. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kingstree United Methodist Church, 510 North Longstreet Street, Kingstree, SC 29556 or to Carolina Hospice Care, 410 Mill Street, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464.
RUBY HANNA -- Ruby Stone Hanna, 93, widow of William James Hanna, died Fri., April 1, 2005, in a Kingstree nursing home. Funeral services, conducted Rev. Dr. Dick Andrews, were held Sun., April 3, 2005, in the Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at McClary Cemetery. Mrs. Hanna was born Nov. 24, 1912, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Frank and Sarah Jane Haselden Stone. She was educated in Kingstree schools and was one of the first employees and on the original staff of Farmers Telephone Co-op. She retired from Santee Electric Co-op and was a member of Williamsburg Presbyterian Church. Survivors are: three daughters, Ikey Brown and Marilea Dooley, both of Kingstree, and Jimmie Grace Hanna of St. Simons Island, Georgia; one son, Buddy Hanna of Columbia; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to McClary Cemetery Fund, c/o the Exchange Bank of South Carolina, Kingstree, S.C.
MARY McCLARY -- Funeral services for Mary Ann McClary, conducted by Rev. Frank V. James, will be held Fri., April 8, 2005, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Kingstree. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at the churchyard cemetery. Ms. McClary, 55, a former assembly line worker in the manufacturing industry, died Sun., April 3, 2005, at her residence. She was born March 11, 1949, in Kingstree, a daughter of Mrs. Mary Lee McClary Mitchum. She received her formal education and graduated from the public schools of Williamsburg County and served in the United States Army. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Survivors, in addition to her mother of the home, are: one daughter, Mary Frances McClary of the home; her step-father, Louis "Bill" Mitchum of the home; six brothers, Marvin McClary of the home, Billy Mitchum, John Johnson and George Barr, all of Kingstree, David McClary and Donald Johnson, both of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and two sisters, Dorothy Burroughs and Rebecca Young, both of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
EMORY DALE RODGERS -- Emory Dale Rodgers, 54, died Sat., April 2, 2005, in a Florence hospital. Funeral services were held Tues., April 5, 2005, in the Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at McClary Cemetery. Mr. Rodgers was born Sept. 15, 1950, in Williamsburg County, a son of Mrs. Mary Evans Rodgers and the late Fred LeGrand Rodgers, Jr. He was a graduate of Kingstree High School and Florence-Darlington Tech. Mr. Rodgers was a retired mechanic, a member of Central Presbyterian Church and a former member of and E.M.T. for Williamsburg County Rescue Squad. Survivors, in addition to his mother of Kingstree, are: two daughters, Mandi Sims of Ft. Drum, New York, and Becky Rodgers of Kingstree; one son, Chris Rodgers of Kingstree; one brother, LeGrand Rodgers of Kingstree; one sister, Julie Burnett of York; and three grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
ERNEST FULTON -- Ernest Lincoln "Link" Fulton, 61, of Rosedale, New York, died Fri., April 1, 2005, at his home. Funeral services were held Tues., April 5, 2005, at the Allen A.M.E. Church Shekinah Chapel in Jamaica, New York. Burial, directed by Jereimah C. Gaffney Funeral Home, followed in a New York cemetery. Mr. Fulton was born April 7, 1943, in Kingstree, the son of the late Peter Fulton and Hessie Wall Fulton Kinlaw. He was a 1961 graduate of Tomlinson High School in Kingstree. He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Kingstree. Survivors are: his wife, Ruth Jenkins Fulton of the home; his children, Eric Fulton and Latressa Fulton, both of Harlem, New York, and Ricky McFadden of Kingstree; nine sisters, Isabell Randolph and Jannie Mae Wagner, both of Kings-tree; Thelma Covington, Betty Fulton and Blanche McCrea, all of Brooklyn, New York, Helen Fulton of Atlanta, Georgia, Wilgee Graham and Eloise McCrea, both of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Lisher Fulton-Shadow of Norwalk, Connecticut; and three grandchildren. Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home assisted the family.
TONY DURANT -- Funeral services for Tony Anthony Durant, conducted by Rev. Charles Barr, were held Wed., April 6, 2005, at St. John United Methodist Church in Lynchburg. Burial, directed by Samuels and Richardson Funeral Home, followed at Chandler Cemetery. Mr. Durant, 24, died Sat., April 2, 2005, in Lynchburg. He was born July 8, 1980, in Sumter, a son of Tony McCray and Phyllis Diane Durant. He received his formal education in the public schools of Sumter County. He was a member of St. John United Methodist Church. Survivors, in addition to his parents of the home, are: two sons, Master Tyheem Durant and Master Trevon Durant, both of Del Ray, Florida; two daughters, Tysheema Durant of Del Ray, Florida, and Miss Shaiaiya Lee of Lynchburg; two brothers, Cedric Durant of Florence and Sinclair Durant of the home; and his paternal grandfather, Ray Frierson of Lynchburg.
LINWOOD KORB -- Linwood "Lindy" DuBose Korb of Bamberg died Fri., April 1, 2005, in the Cancer Center of Palmetto Richland Hospital in Columbia. Funeral services, conducted by Dr. Webb Belangia, were held Sun., April 3, 2005, at Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Cooner Funeral Home, followed at South End Cemetery. Mr. Korb was born in Florence on June 26, 1940, a son of the late Carolyn Campbell and Linwood Boyd DuBose. At an early age, he and his mother moved to Georgetown. He was adopted by his stepfather, Harry Korb. He attended public schools in Georgetown, graduated from Carlisle Military School in Bamberg and the University of South Carolina. For 30 years Mr. Korb lived in Kingstree and was manager/owner of Bunch Auto Parts, and he was also associated with Weight Watchers. He was a member of Optimist Club, a Boy Scout leader and gave swimming lessons to children. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Bamberg. Survivors are: his wife, Mary Rice Ravenel; his children, Katherine Korb Koslosky of Murrells Inlet, Leigh Korb Haley of Kingstree and Linwood William Korb of Garden City; two step-children, Jonathan Ravenel and Jenifer Ravenel; five grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church in Bamberg or the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.
WILLIAM EPPS, JR. -- William Booth "Billy" Epps, Jr., 85, of the Cedar Swamp community died Sun., Feb. 6, 2005, in a Kingstree Hospital. Funeral services were held Tues., Feb. 8, 2005, at Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at Kingstree Memorial Gardens. Mr. Epps was born Sept. 22, 1919, in Williamsburg County, a son of the late William Booth Epps, Sr., and Ruth Phillips Epps. He was a graduate of Kingstree High School and was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the 5th Army, 176th Field Artillery in North Africa and Italy, and was awarded the Legion of Merit. He was a farmer, raising livestock and row crops. He was an avid horseman and a longtime member of the Cedar Swamp Lancing Associ-ation. He was a member and deacon of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Hazel Brown Epps of Kingstree; one daughter, Ruth E. Brown of Kingstree; and one grandson. Memorials may be made to the Connie Maxwell Children's Home, P.O. Box 1178, Greenwood, S.C. 29646; Tidelands Hospice, 2591 N. Fraser St., Georgetown, S.C. 29442; or Cedar Grove Baptist Church, 3905 Big Woods Road, Kingstree, S.C. 29556.
PATRICIA MASON -- Patricia Disher Mason, 64, wife of James Kenneth Mason, Sr., died Tues., Feb. 8, 2005, in a Columbia Hospital. Graveside funeral services, conducted by Rev. Grover Mixon, were held Thurs., Feb. 10, 2005, at New Market Cemetery, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mrs. Mason was born Oct. 28, 1940, in the White Oak community of Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Maude Matthews Disher and William Ralph Disher, Sr. She was a graduate of Greeleyville High School and was a loan officer for the Bank of Greeleyville. She was a member of Greeleyville Baptist Church. Survivors, in addition to her husband of Greeleyville, are: one daughter, Lori Ann Williamson of Kingstree; one son, James Kenneth Mason, Jr., of Greeleyville; one sister, Viney Faye D. Gamble of Greeleyville; two brothers, William Ralph Disher, Jr., of Folly Beach and Charles Edward Disher of Greeleyville; and four grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Greeleyville Baptist Church.
