Posted By: GenealogyBuff.com McCLARY -- Funeral services for Mrs. Patricia Ann Bradshaw McClary were held Wed., April 1, 1998, at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church in Andrews, conducted by Rev. Richard Hillard. Burial followed in the churchıs cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. McClary, 38, died Friday, March 27, 1998, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital in Georgetown. She was born July 19, 1959, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of Mrs. Rosa Hanna Bradshaw and the late Robert Bradshaw. Survivors, in addition to her mother of Kingstree, are: her husband, Theodore McClary of Andrews; children, James Patrick Bradshaw of Andrews; Juana Shana Bradshaw and LaToya Grayson of Florida; six brothers, Amos Scott of New Rochelle, N.Y.; Robert Hanna of Rochester, N.Y.; Willie Bradshaw of Kingstree; Henry Lee Bradshaw of Andrews; and Kenneth Bradshaw and Johnny Bradshaw, both of Kingstree; and one sister, Mrs. Barbara Jean Mitchum of Kingstree.
BROCKINGTON -- Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Magelene Brockington were held April 3, 1998, at Midway Baptist Church, conducted by Ella McFadden. Burial followed in Fannie Thomas Cemetery in the White Oak Community of Williamsburg County directed by Dimery and Rogers. Mrs. Brockington, 56, died Saturday, March 28, 1998, at Tuomey Hospital in Sumter. She was born February 26, 1942, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late C. Otis Brockington and Minnie Brad-ley Brockington. She was a farmer. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church. Survivors are: her husband, Elijah Lemon of the home; two sons, Roy Brockington of Kingstree; and Frank Brockington of Turbeville; four daughters, Mrs. Shirley Griffin, Certrise Lemon and Ruth Ann Lemon, all of New Zion; and Deloris Lemon of Gable, S.C.; five brothers, David Brockington of Kenly, N.C.; James Brockington of Manning; William Brockington of Kingstree; Otis Brockington; and John Henry Brockington, both of Lake City; and six sisters, Mrs. Janie Mae Brockington of Kingstree; Mrs. Mattie Salters of Lake City; Mrs. Della Ree Coleman of New Zion; Mrs. Mary Epps of Sumter; Mrs. Ruth Brockington of Kingstree; and Mrs. Barbara Ann Brockington of Lake City.
McCREA -- Funeral services for Mrs. Harriett "Hattie" Pendergrass McCrea were held Thurs., April 2, 1998 at Trinity Holiness Church in Kingstree, conducted by Elder Linwood Cooper and Elder O'Dell Fulton. Burial followed in the Kingstree Cemetery directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mrs. McCrea, 76, died Friday, March 27, 1998, at Carolinas Hospital System-Kingstree. She was born February 16, 1922, in Williamsburg County, the daughter of the late Rhodus and Lillie Mouzon Pendergrass. She was a member of Trinity Holiness Church, where she was a member of the choir and a treasurer. Survivors are: her husband, George McCrea, Sr. of the home; two sons, George McCrea, Jr. and Louis McCrea, both of Kingstree; one sister, Mrs. Jannie Mae Dozier of Kingstree; and one brother, Elijah Pendergrass of Kingstree.
McCUTCHEN -- Mildred McClary McCutchen, 78, widow of James Willard McCutchen, died Thursday, March 19, 1998 at her residence. Funeral services for Mrs. McCutchen were held Saturday, March 21, 1998, at Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in McClary Cemetery. Mrs. McCutchen was born in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Joseph Z. and Aletha Dubose McClary. She was a retired employee of Wenthworth Manufacturing Co. and Warsaw Manufacturing Co. and was a member of Kingstree Second Baptist Church. Survivors are: six daughters, Clarice M. Mercer of Moncks Corner; Justine M. Matthews, Cynthia M. Robinson, Carol M. Gandy, Darlene M. Brown and Charlene M. McKenzie, all of Kingstree; and two sisters, Evelyn M. McCutchen of Moncks Corner; and Frances M. Hanna of Manning.
CONYERS -- Funeral services for Willie James Conyers were held Saturday, April 2, 1998, at St. Mary A.M.E. Church in Salters, conducted by Rev. Nathan Morris. Burial followed in the family plot of the churchyard cemetery directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mr. Conyers, 59, died Sunday, March 29, 1998, at Jersey City Medical Center in Jersey City, N.J. He was born April 20, 1938, in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Ned Conyers, Sr. and Izora Conyers. He graduated from Tomlinson High School in Kingstree. He continued his education at Allen University in Columbia. He was a member of St. Mary A.M.E. Church. He served in the United States Army. He was employed by the United States Postal Services before he was employed for 31 years at City Chemical Corporation in Jersey City, N.J. Survivors are: three sons, Christopher Conyers and Tracey Conyers, both of Jersey City, N.J.; and Noel Conyers of Maplewood, N.J.; one daughter, Arlene Maxine Conyers of Jersey City, N.J.; and two brothers, Ned Conyers, Jr. of Jersey City, N.J.; and Abraham Conyers of New York, N.Y.
PRESSLEY -- Funeral services for Mrs. Eleanor Johnson Pressley were held Thursday, April 2, 1998, at Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church in Kingstree, conducted by Rev. Charles McLamore. Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Pressley, 49, died Monday, March 30, 1998, at Kingstree Nursing Facility. She was born September 20, 1948, in Kingstree, a daughter of the late Cohen Johnson and Lucille Burgess Johnson. She was employed as a seamstress. She was a member of Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church were she worked with the Sunday school. Survivors are: four sons, D'netric D. Pressley of Nesmith; George B. Pressley of Columbia; Eric C. Pressley of Hemingway; and Darren E. Pressley of Columbia; six sisters, Mrs. Susie Gordon of West Andrews; Mrs. Sarah Green of Kingstree, Mrs. Olivia Green, Mrs. Naomi Tisdale, Mrs. Ruth McNeal, all of New Haven, Conn.; and Mrs. Genevieve McBride of Kingstree; and three brothers, Amos A.C. Johnson and Arthur Lee Johnson, both of Kingstree; and Ronnie Johnson of Columbia.
CUNNINGHAM -- Funeral services for Mrs. Lucille Strong Cunningham were held Thursday, April 2, 1998, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Kingstree. Burial followed at St. Paul Church Cemetery directed by Henryhand Funeral Home. Mrs. Cunningham died March 29, 1998, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. She was the daughter of the late Tom and Binkey Chandler Strong. She was a member of St. Paul Methodist Church. She served as a member of the Usher Board, United Methodist Women, the gospel choir and in other capacities. She was one of the founders and treasurer of the Adah Chapter #336 Order of Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Strong Society, the Farmers Aide Lodge, the Sons and Daughters of Moses and the NAACP. Survivors are: one son, James Cunningham, Jr. of Kingstree; three daughters, Mrs. Dosha Washington and Mrs. Willie Mae Fulton, both of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and Lillie McGill of Kingstree.
COOPER -- Funeral services for Johnnie Robert Cooper were held Friday, April 3, 1998, at Faith United Methodist Church in Kingstree, conducted by Rev. Lillian Washington. Burial followed in the church cemetery directed by Henryhand Funeral Home. Mr. Cooper died Sunday, March 29, 1998. He was born August 5, 1924, in Kingstree, a son of James Cooper and Lottie Barr. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. He was a barber and a farmer in Salters. Survivors are: his wife, Lillie A. Cooper; five sons, James Cooper of Detroit, MI; William Cooper and Herman Cooper, all of Detroit, MI; Vernon Cooper of Killeen, TX; and Kenneth McClorin of Jersey City, N.J.; seven daughters, Barbara Cockfield of Xenia, Oh.; Janice McCray of Philadelphia, Pa.; Velma Spates; and Carolyn Nelson, both of Kingstree; Valerie Battle of Baltimore, Md.; Lottie McClorin of Lane; and LaVetta McClorin of Columbia; nine sisters, Dotherine Cooper of Detroit, MI; Mary McBride of Salters; Prince Anderson of Lake City; Phyllis Cooper of Detroit, MI; Victoria Goldsberry of Greeleyville; Almead Volious of Newark, N.J.; Barbara Cooper of Kingstree; Jimmetta Milligan of Hillside, N.J.; and Geraldine Reynolds of Martinsville, Va.; and three brothers, Booker T. "B.W." Cooper of Kingstree; Rudolph Cooper of Landham, MD; and Samuel Cooper of Bennettsville, S.C.
BROWN -- Allona Dennis Brown, 80, died Monday, April 6, 1998, in Roper Hospital in Charleston. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 8, 1998, in Earles Pentecostal Holiness Church, conducted by Rev. Thomas R. Cox, Jr. and Rev. Jerry Cox. Burial followed in Scranton United Methodist Churchyard in Scranton directed by Andrews Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home. Mrs. Brown was born September 20, 1917, in Scranton, a daughter of the late Henry Marion Dennis and Ada Rogers Dennis. She grew up in Scranton and was a graduate of the old Union School. Mrs. Brown moved to Andrews in 1951, and was a former employee of Oneita Knitting Mills. She was a charter member of Earles Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was the widow of Richard Manning Brown and Jake Oakley. Survivors are: one son, Darrell Brown of Andrews; and two daughters, Genie Evans of Scranton; and Karen McElveen of Kingstree.
WILSON -- Mrs. Clemmie Fuller Motes Wilson, 93, widow of Henry Laurens Wilson, Sr., died Sunday, April 5, 1998, in Kingstree. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 7, 1998, in the Kingstree United Methodist Church. Burial followed in Kingstree Memorial Gardens directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mrs. Wilson was born in Mountville, S.C., a daughter of the late Jesse Hogan Motes, Sr. and Rosa Fuller Motes. She was a graduate of Greenville Womanıs College (Furman University) and taught in the public schools in Winston-Salem, N.C., Kingstree and at Williamsburg Academy in Kingstree. She was a member of Kingstree United Methodist Church. Survivors are: two sons, Henry Laurens Wilson, Jr. of Charleston; and Hogan Motes (Sonny) Wilson of Kingstree; two daughters, Mrs. Rosa Jane Brown of Mauldin; and Carolyn Sue Wilson of Greenville; one sister, Caroline M. Rasor of Laurens; and two brothers, Col. Preston M. Motes of Columbia; and W. Fuller Motes of Mountville.
