Posted By: GenealogyBuff.com PRESSLEY -- Funeral services for Mrs. Cloia Fulton Pressley were held Wednesday, April 8, 1998, at St. Mary United Methodist Church in Kingstree, conducted by Rev. Edward C. McLeod. Burial followed in the family plot of the churchyard cemetery directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mrs. Pressley, 70, died Friday, April 3, 1998, at her residence in Kingstree. She was born March 3, 1926, in Kingstree, a daughter of the late Joseph Fulton and Betty Madison Fulton. She attended Waccamaw Adult Educational Center. She was a member of St. Mary United Methodist Church, where she sang on the Junior Choir and was a Usher and a Missionary. Survivors are: one daughter, Zeddie Mae Pressley of the home; one son, Jostine Pressley of Kingstree; one sister, Mrs. Etta F. Chandler of Kingstree; one brother, Moses Fulton of Kingstree; and her father-in-law, John A. Pressley of Kingstree.
WILLIAMS -- Funeral services for Queen V. Williams were held Friday, April 10, 1998, at First Calvary Baptist Church in Georgetown, conducted by Rev. Lorenzo Smalls. Burial followed at Hopewell Cemetery in the Choppee Community directed by McKnight-Fraser Funeral Home. Ms. Williams was born June 15, 1920, in Georgetown County, the daughter of the David and Louise Wright Williams. She was a homemaker. She was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church in Georgetown. Survivors are: one daughter, Mrs. Joanne Cooper of Kings-tree; and one sister, Mrs. Louvenia Smith of Georgetown.
NELSON -- Funeral services for Joseph Samuel Perry Nelson were held Friday, April 10, 1998, at the William N. Redmond Memorial Chapel in Kingstree. Burial followed in the family plot of Crossroads Cemetery directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mr. Nelson, 63, died Monday, April 6, 1998, at his residence in Kingstree. He was born October 25, 1934, in Berkeley County, a son of the late Paul and Eva Smalls Perry. He was a member of Redeemer Episcopal Church in Pineville. He was a member of the brothers of St. Andrews and the Masons. Survivors are: one son, Phillip Cooper of the home; one daughter, Ella Mae Frazier of Myrtle Beach; and one brother, William Nelson of Jersey City, N.J.
WHACK -- Funeral services for Mrs. Susie Mae McIntosh Whack were held Saturday, April 11, 1998, at Trinity Baptist Church in Greeleyville, conducted by Rev. Richard Addison. Burial followed in the family plot of Whack Cemetery in Greeleyville directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mrs. Whack, 92, died Wednesday, April 8, 1998, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital in Georgetown. She was born August 28, 1905, in Summerton, a daughter of the late Nelson and Virginia McIntosh. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Greeleyville, where she was a member of the Missionary Society, the choir and Sunday school treasurer. She was honored as the oldest member and Mother of Trinity Baptist Church in 1994. Survivors are: one son, Eugene Whack, Jr. of Cambria Heights, New York; and three daughters, Mrs. Anna Margaret W. Reid of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; Mrs. Dora W. Session of Baldwin, New York; and Mrs. Nettie W. Keels of Greeleyville.
ROYSTER -- Mrs. Alma Lybrand Royster died April 5, 1998, at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Fla. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 7, 1998, at the Emerald Coast Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Rev. John Collins. Burial followed in Beal Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Royster was born August 23, 1935, in Aiken. She was a member of Shalimar United Methodist Church. Survivors are: her mother and step-father, Ruth and J.C. Maxwell of Warrenville, S.C.; her husband, Sam Royster; two daughters, Debbie Walker of Alamogordo, N.M.; and Donna Mills of Fort Walton Beach; and two brothers, Willie Lybrand and Claude Royster.
MCBRIDE -- Funeral services for Mrs. Josephine McBride were held April 7, 1998, at St. Mary A.M.E. Church in Salters, conducted by Rev. Nathan Morris. Mrs. McBride, 76, died Tuesday, April 1, 1998, at Carolinas Hospital System-Kingstree. She was born April 10, 1921, in Raleigh, N.C., a daughter of the late Allie and Ella Cook Avery. She was employed at Holiday Sands Hotel in Myrtle Beach. She was a member of St. Mary A.M.E. Church and the Farmers Aide. Survivors are: her husband, Jesse McBride, Sr.; one son, Jesse McBride, Jr. of Salters; one daughter, Mrs. Josie James of Salters; one step-daughter, Mrs. Deloris Colins of Philadelphia, Pa.; one granddaughter reared as her own, Mrs. Crystal Cole of Kingstree; and two brothers, Allie Avery of Philadelphia, Pa.; and David Avery of Raleigh, N.C.
PUGH -- Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Jean Scott Pugh were held Monday, April 20, 1998, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Kingstree. Burial followed in the Kingdom Hall Cemetery in Kingstree directed by Redmond-Richardson . Mrs. Pugh, 59, died Tuesday, April 14, 1998, at the McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence. She was born February 28, 1939, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Jacob "Jake" Scott and Leola Epps Scott. She graduated from Tomlinson High School. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. She was employed for a number of years with the SC Department of Retardation, Pee Regional Center where she was a MR Specialist II. Survivors are: four sisters, Sadie Mae Scott of the home; Ethel Mitchum of Kingstree; Mrs. Helen Jean Poinsette of Jacksonville, N.C.; and Mrs. Tonya Brunson of Charleston.
WILLIAMSON -- Mrs. Lucille Truluck Williamson, 77, widow of George Furman Williamson, died Saturday, April 18, 1998, in a Florence hospital. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 21, 1998, in the Kingstree Baptist Church. Burial followed in Williamson Cemetery directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mrs. Williamson was born in Olanta, a daughter of the late Clarence Phillip and Annie Mae Seymour Truluck. She was a retired bookkeeper for Farmers Warehouse in Lake City and was an member of Kingstree First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Joyful Sunday School Class, a member of the Adult Choir, the Handbell Choir and was assistant choir director of the childrenšs choir. She was a former Cub Scott Den Mother and 4-H Club leader. Survivors are: one son, George Furman Williamson of Myrtle Beach; two daughters, Mrs. Gail Scarborough and Mrs. Patsy Ward, both of Florence; and one sister, Mrs. Corrine T. Haselden of Florence.
COOPER -- Funeral services for Isreal Lee Cooper, Jr. were held Tuesday, April 21, 1998, at Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church in Kingstree, conducted by Rev. Dr. Charles C. McLamore. Burial followed in the Florence National Cemetery in Florence directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mr. Cooper, 49, died Sunday, April 12, 1998, at his residence in El Paso, Texas. He was born March 6, 1949, in Kingstree, a son of Mrs. Anna Bell Fulton Cooper and the late Isreal Lee Cooper, Sr. He graduated from Tomlinson High School in Kingstree. He was a member of Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church. He retired from the United States Army. Survivors, in addition to his mother of Kingstree, are: his wife, Mrs. Gisela Quenzer Cooper of the home; one son, Isreal Lee Cooper, III of El Paso, TX; two daughters, Jasmine Cooper of Germany; and Tat Jana Cooper of El Paso, TX; two brothers, Leverne Cooper and Terry Cooper, both of Kingstree; two sisters, Mrs. Laura Ann Gainey of Sumter; and Mrs. Isabelle Little of Philadelphia, Pa.; and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Gerda Dehn of Germany.
FRIERSON -- Mrs. Estelle Lucas Frierson, 84, died Tuesday, April 21, 1998, in a Kingstree hospital. Funeral services were held Thursday, April 23, 1998, in Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mrs. Frierson was born in Lee County, a daughter of the late Henry S. and Lula Haynes Lucas. She was an active member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, where she served on various committees and held several church offices. She was the widow of Alton L. Frierson. Survivors are; two sisters, Mrs. Lula L. Walters of Suffolk, VA; and Anne L. Cribb of Kingstree; and one brother, Darby F. Lucas of Bishopville.
