BROWN -- Funeral services for Samuel Isaac Brown were held Sunday, December 13, 1998, at St. James Baptist Church in Greeleyville, conducted by Rev. Albert Rose. Burial followed in the churchıs cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Brown, 76, died Wednesday, December 9, 1998, at Carolinas Hospital System-Kingstree. He was born July 2, 1922, in Greeleyville, a son of the late Moses Brown and Rebecca Brown. He was a former employee of Georgia Pacific Plant and S.C. Department of Highways. He was a member of St. James Baptist Church. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Nora Louise Brown of the home; two sons, Samuel Isaac Brown, Jr. and Gabriel Brown, both of Greeleyville; four daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Parker of Greeleyville; Mrs. Clara Bell Williams of Miami, Fla.; Mrs. Ella Ree Johnson of Ladson; and Mrs. Shirley Bell Johnson of Kingstree; and one sister, Mrs. Ada Epps of Greeleyville.

MARTIN -- Funeral services for Mrs. Ellen Moore Martin were held Monday, Dec. 14, 1998, at St. John 4-B Baptist Church in Greeleyville, conducted by Rev. Jimmy Brockington. Burial followed in Brooks Cemetery in Greeleyville directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Martin, 104, died Wednesday, December 9, 1998, at Carolinas Hospital System-Kingstree. She was born September 18, 1894, a daughter of the late John and Sulamae Montgomery Moore. She was married to the late John Martin. She was a member of St. John 4-B Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as primary church school teacher (two years), secretary of the church school (12 years), clerk of church (32 years), president of the senior choir (30 years), president of the Missionary Society (58 years), adult church school teachers (62 years), president of Williamsburg Mission Union.

FULTON -- Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Lue Fulton were held Monday, December 14, 1998, at Sandridge Believers Holiness Church, conducted by Elder Odell Fulton. Burial followed at Kingstree Cemetery directed by McClary's Funeral Home. Mrs. Fulton died December 9, 1998, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. She was born October 2, 1928, in Kingstree, a daughter of the late Harry and Nancy Nelson. She was a member of Sandridge Believers Holiness Church. Survivors are: her husband, Deacon George Fulton of Kingstree; six daughters, Mrs. Francena Brown of Norwalk, Conn.; Mrs. Essie Bouie of Hemingway; Georgianna Fulton, Gloria Fulton, Mrs. Linda Lue Wilson, all of Kingstree; and Elreda Fulton of Columbia; and two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Walker of Deerfield Beach, Florida; and Mrs. Lucena Fulton of Kingstree.

EVANS -- Richard David Evans, 34, died Wednesday, December 16, 1998, in a Charleston hospital after an illness. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 19, 1998, in the Brockington Funeral Home Chapel in Lake City. Burial followed in the Matthews Cemetery in Coward. Mr. Evans was born in Baltimore, Maryland, a son of Junior Evans and Ann Laura Mills Evans Dailey. He was employed with Hancocks and Sons of Kingstree. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Frances McClam Evans of Greeleyville; one daughter, Hannah Danielle Evans of Greeleyville; one son, Christopher David Evans of Greeleyville; and one brother, Lonnie Evans of Baltimore, Maryland; his father, Junior Evans of Cades; and his mother, Mrs. Ann M. Dailey of Cades.

SMITH -- Funeral services for Tyrone Brockington were held Thursday, December 17, 1998, at New Friendship Freewill Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Bernard Paige. Burial followed at Kingstree Cemetery directed by McClaryıs Funeral Home. Mr. Brockington, a janitorial worker of Hardee's, died Thursday, December 10, 1998, at the Medical University of Charleston. He was born January 6, 1971, in Washington, D.C., the son of Deola Tisdale and Raleigh Friend. He was a member of New Friendship Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors, in addition to his parents, are: two brothers, Jermaine Brockington of Tucson, Arizona; and Wesley Friend of Conway; four sisters, Mrs. Aldonnia Graham of Kingstree, Mrs. Melischia Takeall, Mrs. Deone Porchia and Mrs. Darlene Friend, all of Moncks Corner; his grandmothers, Missionary Rev. Mary Brockington of Kingstree; and Mrs. Sarah Bell Friend of Conway; and his grandfather, Wesley Friend of Conway.

LAMBERT -- Luther L. Lambert, 80, died Tuesday, December 29, 1998, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held Thursday, December 31, 1998, in St. Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church, conducted by Rev. Dean Babar, Rev. Harris Jordan and Rev. Daniel Marion Cooper. Burial followed in the Luther L. Lambert Cemetery directed by Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home. Mr. Lambert was born in the St. Delight section of Georgetown County on January 1, 1918, a son of the late Fate Lambert and Cassie L. Lambert. He grew up in the St. Delight community and attended the old Oak Grove School. Mr. Lambert was employed by International Paper Company for a number of years before going to the pulpwood business. He retired in 1962. He was a member of St. Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church. Survivors are: his wife, Mildred Cooper Lambert of Georgetown; two sons, Dennis Evert Lambert of Jamestown; and Larry Luther Lambert, Jr. of Andrews; two daughters, Angela L. Brinson of Macedonia; and Della Anne L. Jones of Moncks Corner; one brother, Evert Lambert of Georgetown; and one sister, Recie L. Yankousky of Georgetown.

REAGAN -- A memorial service for Evelyn Douglass Reagan of Virginia Beach, Virginia, was held in Williamsburg Cemetery in Kingstree, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mrs. Reagan died Dec. 21, 1998, in Bayside Hospital in Virginia Beach. She was born Aug. 11, 1923, in Salters, a daughter of the late Francis Addie Douglass and Carrie Sparks Douglass. She attended Winthrop College and served as a SPAR in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. Survivors are: one daughter, Margaret Johnson of North Highlands, Calif.; one son, Frank Reagan, Jr. of Cary, N.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Louis J. Nexsen of Kingstree; and Mrs. Louis B. Thompson of Litchfield Beach; and one brother, Frank A. Douglass of Lake City.

MCGILL -- Funeral services of Mrs. Jannie Morris McGill were held Sat., Jan. 2, 1999, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Kingstree. Burial followed in the Kingdom Hall Cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. McGill, 88, died Wed., Dec. 30, 1998, at Carolinas Hospital System in Kingstree. She was born May 19, 1910, in Nesmith, a daughter of the late Sam and Amelia Morris. She was an employee at Cox's Laundromat for 25 years. Survivors are: two sons, Frank Tisdale of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; and Charles Tisdale of Kingstree; one daughter, Mrs. Frances Nell Burroughs of Nesmith; and three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Morris of Nesmith; and Mrs. Flossie Manigo and Mrs. Madalene Shaw, both of Philadelphia, Pa.

THOMAS -- Funeral services for John Melvin Thomas were held Saturday, January 2, 1999, at Bethesda United Methodist Church in Lake City, South Carolina. Reverend Hayes T. Gainey, pastor, officiated. Interment followed in Greenlawn Cemetery in Kingstree directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Masonic wake services were held Friday, January 1, 1999, in the chapel of the funeral home. Mr. Thomas, 78, died Tuesday, December 29, 1998, at his residence in Kingstree. He was born February 12, 1920, in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Whittmore Thomas and Sarah Jones Thomas. He was educated in Williamsburg County public schools. Mr. Thomas was a retired construction worker. He was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church, where he served on the Steward Board. He was a member of Prospect Masonic Lodge #404. He was a veteran of World War II. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Mabel Thomas of Kingstree; four sons, Reverend J. P. Thomas of Kingstree; Benny L. Thomas of Hartford, Connecticut; Harold Thomas of Greeleyville; and James Thomas of San Francisco, California; two daughters, Loretta Thomas and Mrs. Mattie Thomas of Kingstree; and two sisters, Mrs. Leola Bradley of Lake City; and Mrs. Pernell Gaddy of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and 18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

STAGGERS -- Funeral services for James "Slim" Staggers were held Saturday, January 2, 1999, at Black River Baptist Church in Salters. Reverend Ernest Scott, pastor, officiated. Burial followed in Crossroad Cemetery in Salters directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Staggers, 84, died Friday, December 25, 1998, at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut. He was born January 26, 1914, in Kingstree, a son of the late Luke Staggers and Sylvia Gadsen Staggers. He was educated in Williamsburg County public schools. He was a former construction worker and farmer. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Bessie Nelson Staggers of Lake City; five sons, Willie Staggers, Bennie Louis Staggers, Joseph Staggers, James Staggers, Jr. and Theodus Staggers, all of New Haven, Connecticut; two daughters, Mrs. Emmer Ruth Cox of New Haven, Connecticut; and Mrs. Annie Bell McGee of Hamden, Connecticut; one brother, Bennie Staggers of New Haven, Connecticut; and two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Green of Salters; Mrs. Viola Simmons of New Haven, Connecticut; 21 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
