Posted By: GenealogyBuff.com BARR -- Funeral services for Damien Edward Barr were held Saturday, April 10, at Jerusalem United Methodist Church in Salters, conducted by Rev. Rufus L. Snowden and Rev. William S. James. Burial followed in the churchyard cemetery directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mr. Barr, 24, died Monday, April 5, 1999, in Lane, after injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born Oct. 19, 1974, in Kingstree, a son of Willie James and Nerithia Davis Barr. He was a member of Jerusalem United Methodist Church. The majority of his life's profession was spent as a skilled mechanic in his father's shop. He also worked in construction at DeBordieu Plantation. Survivors, in addition to his parents of Kingstree, are: his fiancee', Tanysha Wilson of Salters; three children, Damien Xavier Barr, Jamariqoui Malik Barr and Jasmine Qaw'Nina Barr, all of Salters; two brothers, James Sherman Barr of Salters; and Jamine Barr of Kingstree; one sister, Mrs. Tawanada Barr of Columbia; and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Janie Barr of Kingstree.
SALTERS -- Funeral services for John Armon "Man" Salters were held Sat., April 10, at the William N. Redmond Memorial Chapel in Kingstree. Burial followed in the Salters Cemetery in Salters directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mr. Salters, 77, died April 2, at the Carolinas Hospital System-Kingstree. He was a member of Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church. He was employed by Atlantic Coast Railroad in 1945. Survivors are: two sons, Harold Salters and Larry Salters, both of Columbia; and two daughters, Cupah Salters of Columbia; and Mrs. Jondell Tabb of Melbourne, FL.
BOYD -- Kenneth Edsel Boyd, 74, died April 12, in a Kingstree nursing home. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 14, 1999, in Kingstree United Methodist Church. Burial followed in Union Presbyterian Cemetery directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mr. Boyd was born in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Thomas Lee Boyd, Sr. and Bluhma Loryea Boyd. He was a graduate of Andrews High School and was a retired farmer and trucker. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, participating in five invasions in the European and Pacific theatres. He received the Purple Heart for wounds suffered on Okinawa. He was a member of Kingstree United Methodist church, the D.A.V., the V.F.W. and American Legion Post 89. Survivors are: three daughters, Linda Cantey of North Myrtle Beach; Lois Kirtley of Garden City; and Tracey Dark of Surfside; four brothers, Loryea L. Boyd of Allendale; T. L. Boyd, Jr. of Salters; H. Alton Boyd of Kingstree; and J. Herbert Boyd of Mullins; and two sisters, Marguerite B. Taylor of Lake City; and Willa Mae B. Marshall of Columbia.
TISDALE -- Lloyd Gwinn Tisdale, Sr., 68, died Monday, March 29, 1999, in a Summerville hospital. Funeral services were held Thursday, April 1, 1999, in McClary Cemetery directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mr. Tisdale was born in Williamsburg County, a son of the late John James Tisdale and Agnes Jane Strong Tisdale. He was retired from the S.C. Forestry Commission as district mechanic. He was a member of Millwood United Methodist Church. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Sarah T. Tisdale of Kingstree; two sons, Lloyd G. Tisdale, Jr. and Christopher N. Tisdale, both of Kingstree; and one sister, Othel T. (Lizzie) Smoak of Charleston.
WHITE -- Funeral services for Robert Augustin White were held Tuesday, March 23, 1999, at McClary¹s Funeral Home Chapel in Kingstree, conducted by Elder Joseph Chandler. Mr. White, a life long machinist, died March 18, 1999, at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville. He was born February 20, 1954, in Mount Holly, N.J., the son of the late Albert and Lucy White. He was a member of Mount Sinai Way of the Cross Holiness Church of the Cedar Swamp Community. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Deloris White of Cades; two daughters, Melissa White of Cades; and Tamara White of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one son, Maurice McCullough of Cades; and two brothers, Albert White, Jr. of Brazil and Michael White of Brooklyn, N.Y.
COOPER -- Funeral services for Ben "Sonny" Cooper were held Friday, April 2, 1999, at Siloam Baptist Church in Kingstree, conducted by Rev. Francis Burrows. Burial followed in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Kingstree directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mr. Cooper, 72, died Saturday, March 27, 1999, at the Ronald McNair Nursing Facility in Lake City. He was born October 26, 1926, in Kingstree, a son of the late Christopher and Maggie Scott Cooper. He was a member of Siloam Baptist Church. He was a retired welder with the Budd Company of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He served in the United States Army. Survivors are: one son, Zachary Cooper of Effingham; and one brother, Marvin Cooper of Kingstree.
HAM -- Funeral services for Mrs. Rosa Lee Ham were held Monday, April 5, 1999, at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Salters, conducted by Rev. Levern O. Brown. Burial followed in the McGill Cemetery in Greeleyville directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mrs. Ham, 74, died Tuesday, March 30, 1999, at Carolinas Hospital System-Kingstree. She was born June 3, 1924, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late General Montgomery, Sr. and Iva Mabry Thomas. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Survivors are: her husband, Clyde Ham; two sons, Ricardo Dixon of Lake City; and Jonathan Dixon of Charlotte, N.C.; one daughter, Iva C. Pratt of the home; one brother, Emanuel Montgomery of Kingstree; and one sister, Mrs. Lila Mae Brown of New Haven, Ct.
CUNNINGHAM -- Martha Donnelly Cunningham, 64, died Monday, March 29, 1999, in a Charleston hospital. Funeral services for Mrs. Cunningham were held Saturday, April 3, 1999, in the Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Kingstree Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Cunningham was born in North Charleston, a daughter of the late Lt. Col. Harold Ignatius Donnelly, Sr. and Marion Dasher Donnelly. She was a graduate of Winthrop College and the Citadel, with a masters in education. She was employed by the Georgetown County School District at Waccamaw High School in Pawleys Island. She was a Methodist. Survivors are: one daughter, Donna Cunningham of Georgetown; two sons, Jay Roy Cunningham of Kingstree; and William Joseph Cunningham, Jr. of Manning; and one brother, Harold I. Donnelly, Jr. of Chapin.
BARR -- Funeral services for Felder Barr were held Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Kingstree, conducted by Rev. Samuel L. Davis. Burial followed in Elijah United Methodist Church Cemetery in Kingstree directed by Redmond-Richardson. Mr. Barr, 88, died April 17, 1999, at his residence in Kingstree. He was born May 13, 1910, in Kingstree, a son of the late John and Elizabeth Cyrus. He was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church. After 28 years, he retired as keifer fireman with Griffen Roofing Company of Miami, Florida. He was also self-employed as a roofer. Survivors are: his wife, Rev. Mary Cooper Barr of the home; three sons, Theodore Cooper of Miami, FL; Woodrow Cooper of Norwalk, CT; and Robert Lee Singletary of Washington; and one sister, Mrs. Susan Barr Pressley of Kingstree.
WILSON -- Memorial services for James Leroy Wilson were held April 22, 1999, at the Clauddie Henryhand Memorial Chapel in Kingstree, conducted by Bishop J. Bernard McCray. Mr. Wilson died April 15, 1999, at his residence in Kingstree. He was born Feb. 2, 1938, in Harlem, NY, a son of the late Christopher and Marcella Wilson. He was a retired New York City Transit Authority worker. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He excelled mostly at basketball, playing with the "Panthers" a group later called the Harlem Globetrotters. Survivors are: his wife, Joan of Staten Island, New York; one son, James Craig Wilson of Staten Island, N.Y.; one daughter, Kim Wilson-Kennedy of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one sister, Mary Wadkins of Manhattan, N.Y.; and one brother, Christopher Wilson, Jr. of Eastville, Va.
