Posted By: GenealogyBuff.com BARR -- Funeral services for Cleo Barr were held April 24, 1999, at Bethesda United Methodist Church in Lake City, conducted by Rev. Hayes T. Gainey. Burial followed in Barr Cemetery in Nesmith directed by Dimery and Rogers. Mr. Barr, 68, died Tuesday, April 20, 1999, at Beth Abraham Hospital in Bronx, New York. He was born December 5, 1930, in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Adam Barr and Mary Julius Barr. He was employed as a machine operator with a scrap metal company in New York City. He was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church. Survivors are: two sons, Ronald Cooper and Michael Cooper of Lake City; two daughters, Delores Cooper of Columbia; and Shay Cooper of Lake City; two brothers, Calvin Barr of Mt. Vernon, N.Y.; and James Barr of Trenton, N.J.; and three sisters, Mrs. Willie Mae Duncan, Mrs. Ollie Mae Davis and Gwendolyn Barr, all of Bronx, N.Y.
WATSON -- Funeral services for Frankie Odell Watson were held Saturday, April 24, 1999, at Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home Chapel in Kingstree. Burial followed in Big Spring Cemetery in Greeleyville. Mr. Watson, 57, died April 19, 1999, in New York. He was born in Williamsburg County in 1941, a son of the late Roland Watson and Blondell Manigault Watson. He was employed at Colorfast Company for 31 years and Duplex for five years.
BRADLEY -- Funeral services for Mrs. Beatrice Elizabeth Fulton Bradley were held April 24, 1999, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Kingstree, conducted by Rev. Willie Wilson. Burial followed in Kingstree Cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers. Mrs. Bradley, 64, died Tuesday, April 20, 1999, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. She was born June 27, 1934, in Kingstree, a daughter of the late Chester Fulton and Lillie Bell Graham Fulton. She was formerly employed as a production worker at Colonial Rubber Plant in Kingstree. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Gospel Choir, Stewardess Board and the United Methodist Women. Survivors are: two sons, Ernest Bradley and Marion Bradley, both of Kingstree; and two daughters, Mrs. Jannie Smith of Columbia; and Mrs. Betty Jean Hamilton of Kingstree.
CUSACK -- Elease Burkett Cusack, 70, died Saturday, April 24, 1999, at the residence of her daughter. Funeral services were held Monday, April 26, 1999, in the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. David Coker and Rev. Sam Shumate. Burial followed in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Cusack was born in Williamsburg County on June 7, 1928, a daughter of the late John Henry Burkett and Rosa Lee Driggers Burkett. Survivors are: her husband, Herbert L. Cusack, Sr. of Georgetown; three sons, Herbert L. Cusack, Jr. of Hemingway; Donald O. Cusack of Georgetown; and Harry L. Cusack of New York City, N.Y.; one daughter, Juanita C. Plogman of Georgetown; one brother, Walter Burkett of Kingstree; and one sister, Betty Burkett of Ladson.
WILLIAMS -- Funeral services for Mack Williams were held Monday, April 26, 1999, at Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home Chapel in Kingstree, conducted by Rev. Elder Jackie Fulton. Burial followed in Kingstree Cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home.
SINGLETARY -- Funeral services for Mrs. Rhodia M. Fulton Singletary were held Tuesday, April 27, 1999, at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Salters, conducted by Rev. Rufus Snowden. Burial followed in St. Mary A.M.E. Church Cemetery in Salters directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Singletary died Thursday, April 22, 1999. She was born December 28, 1930, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Louisa and Willie Wilson. She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. Survivors are: her husband, Hoover Singletary of Kingstree; one daughter, Carrie Lee Singletary of Kingstree; five sons, Joe Singletary of Columbia; Herbert Lee Singletary of Columbus, Georgia; Leon Singletary of Trio; William Singletary of Kingstree; and Francis Singletary of Durham, N.C.; three brothers, Horace Wilson of Salters; Hector Wilson of Salters; and Taylor Wilson of Columbia; and three sisters, Ethel Edwards of Greensboro, N.C.: Pauline Faison of Salters; and Mrs. Margaret Sumter of Atlanta, Georgia.
MCCREA -- Graveside services for Sam "Lukie" McCrea were held Saturday, April 10, 1999, at St. Mary A.M.E. Church Yard Cemetery in Salters, conducted by Bishop J. Bernard McCrea. Burial was directed by Henryhand Funeral Home. Mr. McCrea died Saturday, April 8, 1999, in Sacramento, Calif. He was born February 12, 1922, in Williamsburg County, the son of the late Kellahan and Viola McCrea. He was a member of Immanuel Temple Seventh Adventist Church. Survivors are: his wife, Lillie M. McCrea; three sons, Sam McCrea, Jr. of Aiken; John E. McCrea of Creedmoor, N.C.; and Gabriel L. McCrea of Sacramento, Ca; three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Atkins of Hillsborough, N.C.; Mrs. Janice Lawson-King of Sacramento, CA; and Debra Lavonne Daye of Antioch, CA; three sisters, Mae Bell McCrea of Washington, D.C.; Mrs. Rutha Lee McCant of Baltimore, MD; and Annie Mae Davis of Pasadena, Md.; and two brothers, Luis McBride of Kingstree; and Mackie J. McCrea of Kingstree.
CUNNINGHAM -- Funeral services for Mrs. Sallie Mae Cunningham were held Thursday, April 15, 1999, at the Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church in Kingstree, conducted by Rev. Jerome Wilson. Burial followed in Friendship Cemetery in Nesmith directed by Henryhand Funeral Home. Mrs. Cunningham died Sunday, April 11, 1999, at the Roper/Berkeley Hospital in Moncks Corner. She was born March 6, 1905, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Robert Witherspoon and Sarah Mouzon Witherspoon. She was a member of Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church. She was employed at Benevolent Society Hospital for many years. Survivors are: one brother, Jamie Lee Witherspoon of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; and three sisters, Mattie Leola Player of Lake City; Irene Cobb of Stanford, Ct.; and Emma Jane Epps of Kingstree.
WINCHESTER -- Mrs. Sadie D. Winchester, 96, widow of Henry Winchester, died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at her residence. Funeral services for Mrs. Winchester were held Saturday, April 17, 1999, in the Brockington Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Lake City Cemetery directed by Brockington Funeral Home. Mrs. Winchester was born in Cades, a daughter of the late William Henry and Eliza Parker Dennis. She was a homemaker and member of the Lake City Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was first married to the late Willie James Gaskins and then to the late Walter D. Phillips. Survivors are: two daughters, Mrs. Willie Mae G. Parnell of Lake City and Mrs. JoAnn P. Griggs of Florence; one son, James D. Phillips of Lake City; and one sister, Mrs. Isla D. Wilson of Cades.
SINGLETARY -- Funeral services for Mrs. Pauline Scott Singletary were held April 18, at Sandridge Believeršs Holiness Church in Kingstree, conducted by Elder Carl Williams. Burial followed in Singletary Cemetery in Kingstree directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Singletary, 83, died Wed., April 14, 1999, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. She was born June 6, 1915, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Keels Pressley and Sadie Scott. She was a housewife and farmer. She was formerly employed at Tender Care Day Care Center and Williamsburg County Recreation Dept. She was a member of Sandridge Believeršs Holiness Church, where she was Mother of the Church. Survivors are: two sons, Charlie Singletary, Jr. of Philadelphia, Pa.; and Stanley Singletary of Baton Rouge, LA; eight daughters, Mrs. Rosetta Johnson of Baltimore, Md.; Mrs. Pauline McAllister, Mrs. Onetta McCrea and Sadie Brockington, all of Kingstree; Evangelist Caretha Bean of Florence; Mrs. Hattie Pendergrass of Kingstree; Mrs. Mary Madison of Atlanta, GA; and Florence Bryant of Florence; two brothers, Isaac Pressley and Jessie Pressley, of Miami, Fla.; and five sisters, Margaret Pressley of Baltimore, MD; Emma Mae Tisdale, Johnnie Ruth Cooper and Dora Pressley, all of Kingstree; and Lillie Lue Cantey of New Jersey.
