Posted By: GenealogyBuff.com SMITH -- Ruth Smith, 86, died June 1, 1999, in a Florence nursing facility. Funeral services were held June 3, 1999, in the Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Bloomingvale Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Miss Smith was born in the Bloomingvale Community, a daughter of the late Thomas Kirton Smith and Emma Boyd Smith. She was a graduate of Hemingway High School and attended Lander College. She was a retired sales clerk and a member of Kingstree United Methodist Church.
PASLEY -- Funeral services for Johnnie "Joe-C" Pasley were held Monday, May 31, 1999, at Union Baptist Church in Salters, conducted by Rev. Willie Bryant and Rev. Lorie G. Pressley. Burial followed in the Salters Cemetery in Salters directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mr. Pasley, 57, died Thursday, May 27, 1999, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. He was born February 12, 1942, in Salters, a son of the late Albert McClary, Mrs. Sarah Pasley Moore and step-son of the late Dea. Joe Moore. He graduated from Williamsburg County Training School in Greeleyville. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. He worked for a number of years at Westvaco, Incorporated. He later became employed by W.S. McCullough and Sons. Survivors: his wife, Mrs. Eunice M. Pasley of Salters; one son, Clifford Pasley of Columbia; one daughter, Mrs. Abigail Matthews of Houston, TX; and three sisters, Mrs. Ollie Rodgers of Philadelphia, Pa.; Mrs. Jessie Rodgers of Salters; and Mrs. Joann Fulton of Kingstree.
BRADLEY -- Funeral services for Roberta L. Bradley were held Thursday, May 27, 1999, at New Friendship Freewill Baptist Church, conducted by Pastor Sherlene Bradley McClary. Burial followed at Greenlawn Cemetery in Kingstree directed by McClaryıs Funeral Home of Kingstree. Mrs. Bradley died Sunday, May 23, 1999, in Kingstree. She was born January 10, 1951, in Kingstree, the daughter of Mrs. Susan Barr Bradley and the late Deacon Robert Bradley. She graduated from Tomlinson High School. Survivors, in addition to her mother of Kingstree, one son, Christopher Lawson of Cola, S.C.; one daughter, Vanessa Lawson of Cola, S.C.; four sisters, Mrs. Ella Burnett of Gary, Indiana; Mrs. Sherlene McClary of Panama City, Florida; Mrs. Kathy Britt of Kingstree; and Mrs. Sue Ella Shaw of Kingstree; five brothers, Robert Bradley of Spring Valley, N.Y.; Patrick Bradley of Cola, S.C.; Perry Bradley of Kingstree; Terrance Bradley of Ambernale, N.C.; and Quinton Bradley of Cola, S.C.; and her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Susan Barr of Kingstree.
FULTON -- Funeral service for Deacon George E. Fulton were held Friday, May 28, 1999, at Sandridge Believers Holiness Church, conducted by Elder Lou Esther Edwards. Burial followed at Kingstree Cemetery directed by McClary Funeral Home. Mr. Fulton, a retired employee of Oxford Manufactory, died May 21, 1999, at Georgetown Hospital in Georgetown. He was born August 16, 1927, in Kingstree, the son of the late Willie Fulton and Sarah McGill Fulton. Mr. Fulton was a member of Sandridge Believers Holiness Church. Survivors are: six daughters, Mrs. Francena Brown of Norwalk, Connecticut; Mrs. Essie Bouie of Hemingway; Georgianna Fulton, Gloria Fulton and Mrs. Linda Lue Wilson, all of Kingstree; Elreda Fulton of Columbia; three brothers, John Fulton and Elder Willie James Fulton, both of Kingstree; and Marion Lee Fulton of Melbourne, Florida; and two sisters, Mrs. Claudia Watson of Kingstree and Mrs. Dorothy Johnson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
WARD -- Enon David (E.D.) Ward, 85, of Cedar Swamp Community, Kingstree, died Sunday, June 13, 1999, at McLeod Hospital. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 15, 1999, at Central Presbyterian Church. Burial followed in Tisdale Cemetery directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mr. Ward was born in Bulloch County, Georgia, June 17, 1913. He was the son of the late Mary Nesmith and John S. Nesmith. He was a retired farmer and carpenter. He was a member and Elder of Central Presbyterian Church. Survivors are: his wife, Julia Taylor Ward of Cedar Swamp; two step-daughters, Faye Brockington of Nesmith; and Lynn Brown of Florence; two step-sons, Otis Ward and Wayne Ward of Kingstree; two sisters, Rita Strickland of Garden City, Ga. and Mary Ward of Statesboro, Ga.; and one brother, Eugene Nesmith of Richmond Hill, Ga.
HADDOCK -- Dargan Carroll Haddock, 88, died Sunday, June 13, 1999, at his residence. Funeral services were held Monday, June 14, 1999, in Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mr. Haddock was born in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Elizabeth Tisdale Haddock and Rev. Henry Clay Haddock. He was a graduate of Kingstree High School and attended Mars Hill College. He was a former Williamsburg County Commissioner, former owner of Kingstree Ambulance Service and a retired farmer. He was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Thelma Brown Haddock of Kingstree; and three sons, Carroll Haddock and Richard Haddock, both of Kingstree; and Henry Haddock of Salters.
McDONALD -- Services for Mabel C. McDonald, 84, were held Tuesday, June 15, 1999, in the chapel of the Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home in Sumter. Burial followed in New Market Cemetery in Greeleyville. Mrs. McDonald is the widow of Johnnie W. McDonald, She died Saturday, June 12, 1999, at a local rehab center. Born in Butler County, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Joseph B. Coonce and Lilly Wallace Coonce. She was a member of Greeleyville Baptist Church. She was a member of Kingstree Eugene Chapter #137, Order of the Easter Star. She was retired from Warsaw Manufacturing of Kingstree. Survivors are: three sons, Robert McDonald and Johnny McDonald of Georgetown; and Frankie McDonald of Sumter; and two daughters, Beulah McDonald of Conway; and Martha White of Greeleyville.
MATTHEWS -- Funeral services for Lloyd Rudolph Rush were held Saturday, June 19, 1999, at Beulah A.M.E. Church in Kings-tree, conducted by Rev. Larry Stevens and Elder Robert Hannah, Jr. Burial followed in the churchyard cemetery directed by Redmond-Richardson. Mr. Rush, 54, died Monday, June 14, 1999, at Carolinas Hospital System-Kingstree. He was born December 18, 1944, in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Joe Wesley and Lula Cunningham Rush. He graduated from Cades-Hebron High School in 1963. He was a 1968 graduate of Allen University in Columbia, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in art with a minor in psychology. He was a member of Beulah African Methodist Episcopal Church where he served as a class leader, church treasurer, chairman of Family and Friends Day and a member of the Steward Board. As an educator, he taught public school at Battery Park High School in Hemingway and Olanta High School in Olanta. In 1973, he joined the Department of Corrections: Probation, Parole and Pardon Services. In 1988, he was honored as Supervisor of the Year. After 25 years of service, he retired July 17, 1998, as Agent-in-Charge. Civic and community minded, during the early 80ıs he coached football and basketball and football at Cades-Hebron High School. He also coached baseball and football for the Williamsburg County Recreation Department. He was founder and member of the Mouzon Community Men where he served as secretary. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Gwendolyn R. Rush of the home; four children, Sonya G. Rush and Antoine Rush, both of Kingstree; LaTasha Rush of Columbia; and Torrey Rush of Lynchburg, VA.; four brothers, George Rush of Goose Creek, Thomas Rush of Hopkins, S.C.; Ulysees Rush of Florence; and Kenneth Rush of Kingstree; three sisters, Mrs. Cora Lawrence of North Charleston; Mrs. Laura Jean Nesmith of Charlotte, N.C.; and Mrs. Claudia Goodwin of Kingstree; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Sophia B. Redden of New Zion; and his grandmother-in-law, Mrs. Bertha Redden of Manning.
McKEVER -- Funeral services for Mrs. Daisy Felder McKever were held Saturday, June 19, 1999, at Marion Baptist Church in Salters, conducted by Rev. Jimmy Brockington. Burial followed in Marion Memorial Garden in Salters directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mrs. McKever, 65, died Monday, June 14, 1999, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence. She was born August 24, 1933, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Mack and Ida Wilson Felder. Survivors are: four daughters, Mrs. Louida Blanding and Mrs. Rosa Lee Jenkins, both of Kingstree; Mrs. Betty Anderson of Myrtle Beach; and Dinah Mae McKever of Columbia; four sons, Benjamin McKever and Arthur McKever of Kingstree; Elder Moses McKever of Charlotte, N.C.; and Willie Lee McKever of Columbia; one sister, Mrs. Hester Taylor of Jersey City, N.J.; and one brother, Elijah Felder of Orlando, FL.
MIMS -- Clifton Wayne Mims, 54, died Tuesday, June 15, 1999, in a Darlington hospital. Funeral services were held Thursday, June 17, 1999, in the Kingstree United Methodist Church. Burial followed in Mt. Vernon United Methodist Cemetery directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mr. Mims was born in Williamsburg County, a son of Clinton L. and Lydie Frierson Mims. He was a graduate of Kingstree High School and attended Clemson University. He was owner of Kingstree Electric and Supply Co. He was a member of Kingstree United Methodist Church, a Mason and a Shriner. Survivors, in addition to his parents of Greeleyville, are: his wife, Ann Culler Mims; two sons, Kevin Mims of Columbia; and Bryan Mims of Greeleyville; and one brother, Bobby Mims of Kingstree.
