Posted By: GenealogyBuff.com MIMS -- Charles Wayne Floyd, 57, died Sunday, June 13, 1999, at his residence. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 16, 1999, in the Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Kingstree Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mr. Floyd was born in Williamsburg County, a son of Mrs. Edith McAllister Floyd and the late Wayne Sam Fulton Floyd. He was employed by the S.C. Dept. of Transportation as a heavy equipment operator and attended Kingstree Church of God. Survivors, in addition to his mother of Kingstree, are: his wife, Mary Elizabeth F. Floyd of Kingstree; one son, Samuel Wayne Floyd of Kingstree; one daughter, Lisa Floyd McClam of New Zion; two brothers, Robert Earl Floyd of Kingstree; and David John Floyd of Petersburg, VA.; and two sisters, Louise F. Cox of Kingstree; and Patricia F. Strong of Suttons.
HOUGH -- Gary Nathaniel Hough, 76, died Monday, June 14, 1999, at his residence. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 16, 1999, in Midway Presbyterian Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mr. Hough was born in Lancaster, a son of the late Leroy and Lula C. Hough. He was a member of Midway Presbyterian Church. Survivors are: his wife, Evelyn Epps Hough; one daughter, Phyllis Hough of Lancaster; two sons, Steve Hough and Howard Hough, both of Lancaster; one brother, Max Hough of Lancaster; three sisters, Betty Phillips and Lorraine Steele of Lancaster; and Catherine Shields of Georgia; and two step-daughters, Laura Ann Godwin of Santee; and Frances Yarborough of Lugoff.
SHAW -- Funeral services for James Edward Shaw were held Friday, June 18, 1999, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Kingstree, conducted by Rev. Willie Wilson. Burial followed in Kingstree Cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Shaw, 78, died Thursday, June 10, 1999, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. He was born July 5, 1920, in Williamsburg County, a son of the late John Wesley Shaw, Jr. and Fannie Mack Shaw. He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Men. He was a 1942 graduate of Tomlinson High School in Kingstree. He earned his bachelor of science degree in industrial arts in 1959 from S. C. State College in Orangeburg. He taught auto mechanics at Tomlinson High School and he also was an industrial arts instructor at Cades, St. Mark, Battery Park and C. E. Murray High Schools and at Denmark Area Trade School in Denmark. He was a member of the Williamsburg County Branch of the N.A.A.C.P. and was a former member of Williamsburg County School Board. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a military policeman. Survivors are: one son, Kenneth B. Shaw of Kingstree; two daughters, Mrs. Alice Jones of Atlanta, Ga.; and Mrs. Cynthia Wilson of Kingstree; and two brothers, Nollie Shaw and Sylvester Shaw, Sr., both of Kingstree.
SWAILS -- Funeral services for James A. Swails, Jr. were held Wednesday, June 16, 1999, at Steverson-Hamlin and Hilbish Funeral Home, conducted by Pastor James E. Weiss and Rev. Luther Price. Burial followed at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. Mr. Swails, 73, of Yalaha died Sunday, June 13, 1999. Born in Andrews, he moved to Central Florida in 1988. He was a retired optician and member of Missionary Alliance Church of Leesburg. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors are: his wife, Euva; two sons, Randy of Yalaha, Joe of Gainesville; one daughter, Dianne Adams of Seneca; and seven sisters, Imo Cantley and Lendel McCrea, both of Kingstree; Willa Jenkins and Windola Pitts, both of Andrews; Rena Mobley of Augusta, Ga.; and Cynthia Boland of Manning.
DeBERRY -- Funeral services for Mrs. Carolyn "Caroline" Morrison DeBerry were held Wednesday, June 23, 1999, at Saint John Baptist Church in Latta. Burial followed in Saint Phillip United Methodist Church Cemetery in Marion directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mrs. DeBerry, 87, died Saturday, June 19, 1999, at her residence in Latta. She was born September 11, 1911, in Dillon County, the daughter of the late Rev. Benjamin and Helen Morrison. Three siblings preceded her to the grave, namely, Mrs. Ethel Richardson, Mrs. Bessie Morrison and Rev. John L. Morrison. She received a formal education in the public schools of Marion County. She was a member of Saint John Baptist Church where she was a member of the Women's Missionary and a Sunday School Teacher. Survivors are: one son, Otho DeBerry, Jr. of Newark, N.J.; and two daughters, Mrs. Lillie Ann DeBerry of Latta; and Mrs. Albertine Hail of Philadelphia, Pa.
TIMMONS -- Charles Emeal Timmons, Sr., 54, died Saturday, June 26, 1999, at his residence. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 29, 1999, in the Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with full military honors followed in Kingstree Memorial Gardens. Mr. Timmons was born in Salters, a son of the late Louie E. and Ruby Epps Timmons. He was employed by Ellco Industries and was an active member of the S. C. National Guard for 38 years, serving in Operation Desert Storm. Survivors are: his wife, Gwen Chandler Timmons; two sons, Charles E. Timmons, Jr. and Louie Sherod Timmons, both of Kingstree; and two sisters, Carolyn T. Johnson of Lumberton, N.C. and Dell T. Johnson of Belton, Missouri.
BRAYBOY -- Funeral services for Christine Brayboy were held Sunday, June 27, 1999, at Sandridge Believers Holiness Church, conducted by Elder Odell Fulton. Burial followed at Greenlawn Cemetery directed by McClary's Funeral Home. Mrs. Brayboy, a machine operator at Lexington Furniture, died June 23, 1999, at the Medical University in Charleston. She was born July 20, 1948, in Kingstree, the daughter of the late Issac Johnson and Sara McClary. She was a member of Sandridge Believers Holiness Church. Survivors are: her husband, Harold Brayboy, Jr. of Kingstree; two sons, Dwayne Brayboy of Atlanta, Georgia; and Spencer Brayboy of Kingstree; one daughter, Harriett Brayboy of Kingstree; two brothers, Charlie Johnson of Kingstree; and Walter Johnson of Rochester, N.Y.; and two sisters, Mrs. Minnie McCrea and Mrs. Annie Johnson, both of Kingstree.
HARVEY -- Mrs. Mary Alice Scarborough Harvey, 84, of Moncks Corner, died June 24, 1999, in a Charleston hospital. Funeral services were held June 26, in the Pinopolis United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Dial-Murray Funeral Home, followed in Berkeley Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Harvey was born August 10, 1914, in Lamar, S.C., a daughter of Henry Stephen Scarborough and Mary Alice Saverance Scarborough. She is the widow of John K. Harvey and was a member of the Pinopolis United Methodist Church.
McGILL -- Funeral services for Zakia (Key Key) T. McGill were held June 26, 1999, at the Clauddie Henryhand Memorial Chapel of Henryhand Funeral Home in Kingstree, conducted by Rev. Jerome Wilson. Burial followed at St. Mary A.M.E. Church Cemetery in Salters directed by Henryhand Funeral Home. Mr. McGill died Saturday, June 19, 1999, at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Conn. He was born May 27, 1977, in Williamsburg County, the son of Francena McGill and Paul Rivers. Surviving are his parents.
McKNIGHT -- Funeral services for Marion Dwayne McKnight, 21, of Andrews, were held June 28, 1999, at Bethlehem Holiness Church, conducted by Elder Henry Epps, Jr. Burial followed at Asbury-Bethlehem Cemetery directed by McKnight-Fraser Funeral Home. Mr. McKnight died June 23 in Hemingway. He was born October 27, 1977, in Georgetown, the son of Marion McKnight and Rosa Mack McKnight. He was a graduate of St. Mark High School and a member of Bethlehem Holiness Church. He was employed by Firestone of Kingstree. Survivors are his parents; two sisters, Shantara and Lashanta McKnight of Andrews; his paternal grandmother, Retha Jackson of Andrews; and his maternal grandparents, Jay and Catherine Mack of Nesmith.
