HARTER -- Mrs. Marian H. Harter, 76, wife of Olin C. Harter, died Saturday, July 17, 1999, at her residence. Private funeral services were held in the New Zion Baptist Church. Burial followed at the church cemetery directed by Brockington Funeral Home. Mrs. Harter was born in Chicago, Illinois, a daughter of the late Ernest Hagerstrom and Ethel Hawkinson Hagerstrom. She was a graduate of Wright Junior College in Chicago and a homemaker. She was a member of New Zion Baptist Church and the Womens Missionary Union. Survivors are: her husband, Olin C. Harter of Scranton; one daughter, Mrs. Brenda M. Schneider of Big Pine Key, Florida; one son, Larry C. Harter of Schwenksville, Pennsylvania; and one sister, Verna H. Wagenhofer of Chicago.

CAPERS -- Carrie Louise Capers, 65, died Saturday, June 24, 1999, at Harlem Hospital, Harlem, NY. Funeral services were held Friday, July 2, 1999, at Good Hope Baptist Church in Greeleyvile with the Rev. Tommy Shubrick, pastor, officiating. Interment followed at Big Spring Cemetery, Greeleyville, conducted by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Capers was born in Greeleyville on November 20, 1933, a daughter of the late Edward Capers and Wilhelmenia Williams Capers. She was educated in the Williamsburg County Public Schools and was employed as a domestic engineer at a physicianıs office. She was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church, where she served faithfully on the usher board, played the piano and taught Sunday School. Survivors include one daughter, Gloria Jean Capers of New York, One adopted brother, Otto Williams, of Greeleyville and one adopted sister, Ollie Shirer of Pittsburg, PA.

BOYD -- Clifford Howard Boyd, 27, died Saturday, July 3, 1999, in Kingstree. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 7, 1999, at Wilson Chapel First Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Ernest Scott. Burial followed in the church's Cemetery, conducted by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Boyd was born Sept. 2, 1971 in Williamsburg County, a son of Mattie Boyd McKnight and the late David Boyd. He attended Blakely High School and was formerly employed at Hanna Feed Mill in Kingstree and Tupperware Manufacturing in Hemingway. He was a member of Wilson Chapel First Baptist Church. Survivors include his mother and step-father, John McKnight of Kingstree; one son, Michael Pender of Miami, Florida; four brothers, Kwame, Will, Direll and David Kalvin McKnight, all of Kingstree; two sisters, Marazetta Boyd of Concord, NC and Sharay Boyd of Kingstree; and one dear friend, Joan McGee of Kingstree.

ROBINSON -- Manson Robinson, 83, died Saturday, June 26, 1999 at his residence in Greeleyville. Funeral Services were held Thursday, July 1, 1999, at The Church of Christ, Kingstree, with the Rev. Billy McVey, pastor, officiating. Interment followed in McKnight Cemetery in Kingstree, conducted by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Robinson was born in Williamsburg County on May 10, 1917, a son of the late Henry Robinson and Daisy York. He was reared by Effie Robinson. He was educated in the Williamsburg County public schools, was a retired farmer and a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include five sons, Ezell Robinson of Greeleyville, Manson Robinson, Jr. (Valerie) of Columbia, Jimmy Robinson (Sherian) of Atlanta, GA, Louis Robinson (Marsharn) of Atlanta, GA and Van Robinson (Helen) of Columbia; five daughters, Betty Anderson (Willie) of Philadelphia, Rebecca Robinson of Huntington, NY, Loree Byrd and Jannie A. Robinson, both of Greeleyville and Linda Johnson (E. Joe) of Houston, TX; three sisters, Queen Robinson Gamble and Phene Chandler, both of Greeleyville, and Lucille Doctor of Charleston.

SCOTT -- Funeral services for John Curtis Scott were held Saturday, July 10, 1999, at Evangelistic Temple Way of the Cross Holiness Church in Kingstree, conducted by Bishop Roosevelt Fulton, Elder Emanuel Burgess and Staff Sergeant Ronnie Scott. Burial followed in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Kingstree directed by Henryhand Funeral Home. Mr. Scott was born Nov. 4, 1971, in Williamsburg County, the son of Trudy Mouzon and Arnold Barr. He was employed by McCutchens Training Stable, where he trained horses and rode as a professional jockey. Survivors, in addition to his parents, are: his wife, Mrs. Jessie M. Scott of Kingstree; two sons, Johnerio and John A. Scott of Kingstree; and one daughter, Jessaria Scott of Kingstree; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Mae Mouzon of Kingstree; his grandfather, Marvin Mitchum of Kingstree; Doc Mouzon of Rochester, N.Y.; his great-grandmother, Mrs. Mattie Mitchum of Kingstree; five brothers, Staff Sargeant Ronnie Scott of Okinawa, Japan; Edward Demario Mouzon of Myrtle Beach; Curtis and Jamie Mouzon of Kingstree; and Montell Barr of Miami, Fla.; and two sisters, Tuwain Mouzon of Kingstree and Johnette Mouzon of Atlanta, Ga.

CHANDLER -- Funeral services for Mrs. Luvinia Rebecca Williams Chandler, 92, were held Saturday, July 10, 1999, at Siloam Baptist Church in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. Francis Burrows, Pastor and the Rev. Jerome Wilson, Pastor of Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church in Kingstree. Burial followed at Kingstree Cemetery, conducted by Redmond Richardson. Mrs. Chandler died Monday, July 5, 1999, at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Isaline Anna Gordon Williams of Orangeburg. She was born February 24, 1906 in Cope, S.C. She attended Claflin High School and graduated from South Carolina State College with a Bachelor of Science degree. She also attended Hale Hospital for Nurses in Nashville, TN. Mrs. Chandler taught in the Williamsburg County Public Schools until 1940, when she was appointed by the Governor as a Home Supervisor for Farmers' Home Administration. She was the first African-American to hold that position. She continued in that capacity until all Home Supervisors were discontinued. She then used her nursing skills for Dr. Mason. She reared her children in Siloam Baptist Church, but spent her later years in Greater Bethel African Episcopal Church. She was married to the late Dr. Samuel David Chandler. Surviving is one daughter, Barbara Toni Gadegbeku (Polycarp). Mrs. Chandler was preceded in death by another daughter, Anna Louise Chandler.

CUNNINGHAM -- Mary Alice Mack Cunningham, 57, died Monday, July 5, 1999 at Peachtree Hospice at DeKalb Medical Center, Decatur, Georgia. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 10, 1999, at Antioch Baptist Church near Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. Talbert Dickson, pastor. Burial followed in the churchyard, conducted by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mrs. Cunningham was a graduate of East High School, Rochester, New York. She was employed for a number of years as a Vista Supervisor. She attended Hillcrest Church of Christ in Decatur, Georgia. Surviving are her husband, Willie David Cunningham of Kingstree; three sons, David Michael (Tracy) Cunningham of Stone Mountain, Georgia; Sgt. William Anthony (Lasonia) Cunningham of Oceanside, California; and Roderick Allen (Omeda Daniels) Cunningham of Rochester, NY; one daughter Kimberly Ann Cunningham of Stone Mountain, Georgia; six brothers, Julius (Alyce) Mack of Rochester, NY; Wallace Mack, Brooklyn, NY; Danny, Lester, Ronald and Gerald Mack, all of West Virginia; four sisters, Mrs. Wardell Thomas of Euclid, Ohio, Sharon Mack of Columbus, OH; Deborah Wamer and Gloria Paterson, both of Cleveland, OH.

SLOAN -- Pauline B. Sloan, 82, died Monday, July 5, 1999, in Kingstree Nursing Facility. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 6 at Greenlawn Cemetery in Spartanburg, conducted by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Sloan was born in Science Hill, Kentucky on October 9, 1916, a daughter of the late Mckinley and Lillie Mae Woodall. Survivors are her husband, John Henry Sloan of Greenville and a daughter, Lillie Jean Sloan Doyle (Robert), also of Greenville.

LEWIS -- Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Gore Lewis were held Monday, July 5, 1999, at Bethlehem A.M.E. Church in Hemingway, conducted by Rev. Virgil Hammett. Burial followed in the church's cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Lewis, 94, died Friday, July 2, 1999, at Carolinas Hospital System-Kingstree. She was born August 1904, in Georgetown County, a daughter of the late Isiah Wright. She was reared by the late Mrs. Annie Gore and Charlie Gore. She was a retired farmer and housewife. She was a member of Bethlehem A.M.E. Church, where she was a member of the Missionary Society, the church choir and the stewardess board. She was a member of the Home Charity Lodge. Survivors are: her husband, G. Hardy Lewis of the home; and one sister, Mrs. Annie Mae Lawrence of Georgetown.

CONYERS -- Funeral services for Kenneth Conyers were held Monday, July 5, 1999, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Kingstree, conducted by Rev. Willie Wilson. Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery in Kingstree directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Conyers, 39, died June 30, 1999, in a hospital in Hollywood, Florida. He was born January 14, 1960, in Kingstree, a son of Professor Conyers and Jannie Myers Conyers. He was a graduate of Kingstree Senior High School. He was employed as a contractor foreman with High Rise Building Construction Company in Hollywood, Florida. He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Survivors, in addition to his parents of Kingstree, are: his wife, Mrs. Beatrice Conyers of Hollywood, Fla.; two daughters, Ebony Conyers and Shanee Sharell Conyers, both of Hollywood, Fla.; four sisters, Mrs. Carrie Lee Brown, Dianne Conyers, Mrs. Verina Brockington and Kimberly Conyers, all of Kingstree; one brother, Dwayne Conyers of Kingstree; and his grandmother, Mrs. Carrie Conyers of Kingstree.
