Posted By: GenealogyBuff.com WILSON -- Lucille Turbeville Wilson, 100, a retired employee with the Williamsburg County School District, died Monday, August 23, 1999, in a local nursing home. Funeral services for Mrs. Wilson were held Thursday, August 26, 1999, in Kingstree United Methodist Church directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mrs. Wilson was born in Georgetown County, a daughter of William T. Turbeville and Emmie Carroway Turbeville. She was a graduate of Union High School in Georgetown and attended Columbia College. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of Kingstree United Methodist Church and the widow of Robert H. Wilson. Survivors are: one son, William D. Wilson of Goose Creek; and one daughter, Margaret Emmie W. Scott of Kingstree.
CRICK -- Funeral services for Dennis Gordon Crick, 52, were held Monday, August 2, 1999, at Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery directed by Caughman-Harman, Lexington Chapel Memorials. Mr. Crick died Friday, July 30, 1999. Born in Kingstree, he was a son of Gordon Lee and Virginia Harrington Crick. He was a member of Mt. Horeb United Methodist church, a Shriner, and a member of Lexington Masonic Lodge No. 152. Survivors, in addition to his parents of Kingstree, are: his wife, Carolyn Canipe Crick; one daughter, Hali Crick Dooley of Lexington; two sisters, Doris Duke of Sumter; and Marilee Morris of Beaufort; and one brother, Clinton Crick of Kingstree. Pallbearers were Jimmie Garvin, Jim Ponder, Stan Budd, George Oxner, Robert Hooker and Marcus Canipe.
McCULLOUGH -- Funeral services for Mrs. Ella Fulmore McCullough were held August 2, 1999, at Jerusalem United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Rufus Snowden. Burial followed in the churchyard cemetery directed by Henryhand Funeral Home. Mrs. McCullough was born April 5, 1913, a daughter of Bennett and Ella McGill. She was a member of Farmers Aid Lodge, Great Hope #8, and the Trio precinct where she worked for a number of years. She was a member of Jerusalem United Methodist Church in Salters in the Blakley Community. She served as president of the senior choir, Women Society of Christian Service, secretary and class leader. Survivors are: her husband, Isiah McCullough of Salters; two sons, James Fulmore of Trio; and Bennett Fulmore of Miami, Fla.; five daughters, Bertha Davis of Salters; Marie Tisdale of Trio; Girlene Davis of New York City; Iola Wilson of Baltimore, Md.; Annie Fulmore of the home; and four step-children, Emery McCullough of Miami, Fla.; Clarence McCullough of Baltimore, Md.; Waitus McCullough of Hollowood, Fla.; and Jannie Mitchell of Salters.
SINGLETARY -- Funeral services for Robert "Bob" Wheeler Singletary were held Thursday, August 12, 1999, at Old Mount Zion A.M.E. Zion Church in Kingstree, conducted by Rev. Benjamin Miller. Burial followed in the Singletary Cemetery in the White Oak Community directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mr. Singletary, 88, died Saturday, August 10, 1999, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. He was born January 2, 1911, in Williamsburg County, a son of the late James Singletary, Sr. and Agnes Wheeler Singletary. He attended schools for brick masonry and shoemaking. He was a member of Saint Michael United Methodist Church. He was employed as a valet at the Chevy Chase Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland. Except for the time spent in the United States Navy during World War II, he worked at the country club for 44 years until his retirement in 1977. Survivors are: four daughters, Ernestine Shearin, Linda Lou Lawson, Emily Simpkins and Glynis Johnson, all of Washington, D.C.; one foster son, Bruce Swann of Washington, D.C.; three brothers, Charlie Singletary and Alvin Singletary, both of Kingstree; and Sam Singletary of Ohio; and eight sisters, Lottie Dukes, Eula Mae Wallace and Mell Burrows, all of Kingstree; Mrs. Mary Woodworth and Margarite Lambert, both of Washington, D.C.; Mrs. Jammie Saulties and Mrs. Pearl Smoaks, both of Connecticut; and Mrs. Jannie Davis of Baltimore, Md.
MATTHEWS -- Funeral services for Baby Shedrick Brown, Jr. were held Sunday, August 15, 1999, at Bibleway Temple Church in Lane, conducted by Elder Thomas Plowden. Burial followed in Cowhead Cemetery in Gourdine directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Baby Brown died Thursday, August 12, 1999, at MUSC in Charleston. He was born June 27, 1998, in Florence, a son of Shedrick Brown, Sr. and Dekochea Darby Brown. Survivors, in addition to his parents, both of Lane, are: two sisters, Zechia M. Darby and Natori K. Darby, both of Lane; his grandparents, Joe Brown, Jr. of Wilmington, N.C.; Mrs. Rosetta Starling, Frank Starling, Mrs. Annie Darby and Wilbur Darby, all of Lane; and his great-grandfather, Joe Brown, Sr. of Lane.
FULWOOD -- Funeral services for Leroy Fulwood were held Friday, August 13, 1999, at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Salters, conducted by Rev. Leroy Brown. Burial followed in Crossroad Cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeal Home. Mr. Fulwood, 60, died Mon., August 9, 1999, in Salters. He was born December 22, 1938, in Salters, a son of the late Willie James Fulwood and Rosa Bell Harmon Fulwood. He was a farmer. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Survivors are: one son, Israel Chandler of Winston Salem, N.C.; two daughters, Jacquelyn Hugee of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and Joyce Ann Fulwood; five brothers, Rev. James Fulwood of Winston Salem, N.C.; Jeffery Fulwood of West Palm Beach, Fla.; Marvin Fulwood of Winston Salem, N.C.; Robinson Fulwood of Maryland; and Earl Fulwood of Salters; and four sisters, Mrs. Sara Fulwood Beasley of Alabama; Sergeant Major Mildred Fulwood of Maryland; Mrs. Callatta Fulwood Miller of Winston Salem, N.C.; and Mrs. Rosa Mae Fulwood Ceasar of Alabama.
WALL -- Funeral services for James "Bubba" Martin Wall, Sr. were held Friday, October 1, 1999, at Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. Willie Wilson and Elder Carl Williams. Burial followed in the Elijah United Methodist Church Cemetery in Kingstree directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mr. Wall, 40, died Monday, September 27, 1999, after injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born May 8, 1959, in Kingstree, a son of Mrs. Elizabeth Cyrus Wall and the late Martin Luther Wall. He was a 1977 graduate of St. Mark High School in Kingstree. He was a member of Saint Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church in Kingstree. He was formerly employed with Atlantic Electrical Contractors of Charleston, Industrial Electrical Contractors of Johnsonville and for 19 years, he was employed by Stone Electrical Contractors of Johnsonville. He later became the owner/operator of Wall Electrical Service. Survivors, in addition to his mother of Kingstree, are: his wife, Mrs. Johnny Mae Wall of the home; four children, Jamette Wall, James Martin Wall, Jerrison Mauldin Wall and Brodric Scott, all of the home; one sister, Lue Esther Wall of Kingstree; one brother, Luther L. Wall of Kingstree; three nephews, who were reared as his brothers, Alphonzo Wall of Lake City; Lorenzo Wall and Jimmy Wall, both of Kingstree; and his father- and mother-in-law, Freddie P. and Lerline M. Scott of Kingstree.
McCUTCHEON -- Carroll F. McCutcheon, 62, died Sunday, September 26, 1999, in a Florence hospital. Graveside services were held Tuesday, September 28, 1999, in the High Hill Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Brockington Funeral Home. Mr. McCutcheon was born in Florence County, a son of the late Archie Edward and Freeda Tyler McCutcheon. He was a graduate of Indiantown High School and attended Newberry College. He was the owner and operator of Cades Cash & Carry and a member of Cades Baptist Church. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Barbara Burrows McCutcheon of Lake City; one step-son, John Covington of Myrtle Beach; two brothers, Ray McCutcheon of Columbia; and Gerald McCutcheon of Cades; and one sister, Mary Ann Heath of Charleston.
ROSE -- Graveside services for Infant Tavoris Dayquan Rose were held Sunday, September 26, 1999, at the Old McFadden Cemetery in Olanta, conducted by the Rev. Oliver Davis. Burial was directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Infant Rose was born and died on Saturday, September 25, 1999, at McLeod Women's Pavilion in Florence. Survivors are: his mother, LaTonya Rose of Kingstree; his father, Charles D. Shaw of Kingstree; his maternal grandparents, James Lee and Mary Rose of Kingstree; and his paternal grandparents, Charles Shaw and Christine Chandler, both of Kingstree.
SALTERS -- Funeral services for Mrs. Florenia Burgess Salters were held Friday, October 1, 1999, at Saint Matthew Missionary Baptist Church in Salters, conducted by the Rev. James E. Council. Burial followed at Salters Cemetery in Salters directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mrs. Salters, 79, died Saturday, September 25, 1999, at Carolinas Hospital System-Kingstree. She was born September 9, 1920, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Jeffrey and Bertha Lee Fulton Salters. She was a member of Saint Matthew Baptist Church, where she was the Mother of the church, a Deaconess, a Missionary, treasurer of the Missionary Society, President of the Youth Choir and former president of the Usher Board. She sang with the Christian Sisters and the Zion Tone Gospel Singers. She was also Past Worthy Matron of Lilly White Chapter No. 349, Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors are: three sons, James H. Burgess, Jr., of West Haven, CT; Lucius Burgess of Myrtle Beach; and Leroy Jefferson Burgess of Salters; four daughters, Mrs. Lelia Bell Jackson of New Haven, CT; Rose M. Gamble, Mrs. Annette Whack and Angie Denise Burgess, all of Salters; three brothers, Lawrence Salters of Salters; Johnny Salters of Lane; and Adam Elma Salters of New Haven, CT; and two grandsons she reared as her own, SP5 Adrian A. Burgess of the United States Army, Dexheim, Germany; and SPC Anterio L. Gamble of the United States Army, Ft. Drum, N.Y.
