Posted By: GenealogyBuff.com TISDALE -- Funeral services for Mrs. Laura Peterson Tisdale were held Saturday, April 1, 2000, at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Salters, conducted by the Rev. C. W. Green and Elder O. D. Franklin. Burial followed in Rocky Ford Cemetery in Salters directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mrs. Tisdale, 32, died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, at Carolinas Hospital System-Kingstree. She was born April 13, 1967, a daughter of Beka Peterson. She was reared by her adopted mother Mary Scott. Survivors, in addition to her mother of Florida, are: her husband, Jessie James Tisdale of the home; her adopted mother, Mary Scott of New Haven, CT; six adopted sisters, Terry McElveen of Waterbury, CT; Mrs. Sharon Brooks, Joyce McElveen, Ember McElveen, April McElveen and Arnesha McElveen, all of New Haven, CT; and two adopted brothers, Joequian McElveen and John McElveen, both of New Haven, CT.
BROCK -- Funeral services for Mrs. Francis Parsons Brock were held Saturday, April 1, 2000, at Nazareth A.M.E. Church in Lane, conducted by the Rev. Geneva Wilson. Burial followed in the church's cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Brock, 90, died Monday, March 27, 2000, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. She was born April 15, 1909, in Lane, a daughter of the late Jack O. Parsons and Nancy Parsons. She was a retired homemaker. She was a member of Nazareth A.M.E. Church. She was the widow of the late Jake Brock. Survivors are: two brothers, Thomas Parsons of Georgetown and Roy Parsons of Providence, RI.
McALLISTER -- Myrtie McDaniel McAllister, 92, widow of Edward Jeff McAllister, died Friday, March 31, 2000, at Commander Nursing Center. Funeral services were held Sunday, April 2, 2000, in the Brockington Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Carter Cemetery. Mrs. McAllister was born in Florence County, a daughter of the late Zan and Mary McAllister McDaniel. Surviving is one daughter, Mrs. Lula Von Baxley of Effingham.
MATTHEWS -- Ruby Lee Kirby Matthews, 61, widow of Harlin (Louie) Matthews, died Saturday, April 1, 2000, in a Florence hospital. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 4, 2000, in the Camp Branch Church of God of Prophecy. Burial followed in the Floydıs Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery directed by Brockington Funeral Home. Mrs. Matthews was born in Bethel, SC, a daughter of the late Eugene and Lilly Lynch Kirby. She was a homemaker and a member of Kirby Mission. Survivors are: two sons, Sonny Matthews of Manning; and Randy Matthews of Lake City; three daughters, Wanda Parker, Sondra Matthews and Sharlene McLendon, all of Lake City; two sisters, Margaret Kirby and Barbara Osborne, both of Lake City; and three brothers, Manning Kirby, Richard Kirby and Roger Kirby, all of Lake City.
WHITE -- Marion Jackson White, 64, died Sunday, April 2, 2000, in a Columbia hospital. Funeral services were held April 5, 2000, in the Tabernacle in the Wilderness. Burial followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Manning directed by Brockington Funeral Home. Mr. White was born in Clarendon County, a son of the late Samuel Dewey and Ethel Ridgeway White. He was a retired mill worker. He was in the United States Air Force having served in Korea. Survivors are: his wife, Sally B. Bartlett of Coward; two sisters, Lillian Ridgeway and Lois Roseberry, both of Manning; three brothers, Julius White of Greeleyville; Harry Edward White of Prattville, AL; and Don White of Coward; three step-daughters, Sissie Lee and Charlene Osborne, both of Coward; and Lois Hunt of Scranton; and one step-son, Richard Bartlett of Coward.
PARNELL -- Wesley LeRoy Parnell, Jr., 47, died Monday, April 3, 2000, in a Hartsville nursing home. Graveside services were held Wednesday, April 5, 2000, in the Lake City Memorial Park directed by Brockington Funeral Home. Mr. Parnell was born in Lake City, a son of Cecil P. Parnell and the late Wesley LeRoy Parnell, Sr. Survivors, in addition to his mother of Lake City, are: one brother, T. Hoyt Parnell of Lake City; and two sisters, Mrs. Elaine Carter of Timmonsville; and Mrs. Betty Lewis of Chamblee, GA.
McCLARY -- Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Lee McClary were held Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at Union Baptist Church in Salters, conducted by the Rev. Willie Bryant. Burial followed at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Greeleyville directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. McClary, 66, died Friday, March 31, 2000, at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville, NC. She was born March 20, 1934, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Luther Shaw and Mary Carolina Shaw. She was educated in Williamsburg County schools. At an early age she joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church. After moving to Providence, RI, she joined Ebenezer Baptist Church and later returned home and became a member of Union Baptist Church. Survivors are: her husband, Leroy Penny McClary of Salters; three sisters, Mrs. Lucinda Williams of Greeleyville; Mrs. Mellie McCullough of Charleston; and Mrs. Emma Jane Morris of Savannah, GA; and one niece reared as a daughter, Mrs. Kim Cole of Fayetteville, NC.
WRIGHT -- Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Edna Wright were held Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at Greater St. John A.M.E. Church in Trio, conducted by the Rev. Melvin McClennon. Burial followed in Marion Memorial Garden Cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Wright, 48, died March 31, 2000, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. She was born October 6, 1951, in Brooklyn, NY, a daughter of the late Milton and Mattie Russell. She was a member of Greater St. John A.M.E. Church, where she was church secretary, a member of the young adult choir, a Sunday school teacher and Leader of Class No. Five. She was a graduate of John J. High School in Brooklyn, NY. She attended Williamsburg Technical College. Survivors are: her husband, Warren Rouse of Andrews; one son, Jaysane Reginald Wright of Brooklyn, NY; one daughter, Mrs. Sharee Daniels of Salters; two sisters, Mrs. Maxine Russell McKnight of Kingstree; and Mrs. Claudia Wallace of Brooklyn, NY; and four brothers, Melton Russell of Brooklyn, NY; Irvin Russell of Stone Mountain, GA; Jerome Russell of PA; and David Oliveria of Seattle, WA.
McCREA -- Funeral services for Warren McCrea, Jr. were held Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Salters. Burial followed at St. Mary AME Church cemetery in Salters directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. McCrea, 56, died March 29, 2000, at his residence. He was born January 24, 1944, in Williamsburg County, the son of Warren and Ida Hamlet McCrea. He graduated from Blakely High School and Lincoln Technical Institute with a license in auto mechanics. He was employed by Streichler Trucking Company in New Jersey as a mechanic and worked as a self-employed automotive technician. He was a member of Calvary CME Church in Jersey City, NJ. Survivors are: four sons, Trayce, Warren, III, both of Jersey City, NJ; Keith Gaffney and Brandon McCrea, both of Whitesville, NC; three daughters, Yolanda McCrea and Wareen McCrea, both of Jersey City, NJ; and Tawana Gaffney of Whitesville, NC; and three sisters, Mrs. Queen Rhue of Andrews, Mrs. Helen McCrea of Plainsfield, NJ; and Mrs. Margaret Fuller of Brooklyn, NY.
KELLY -- Mrs. Lenora W. Kelly, widow of William David Kelly, Sr., died Friday, April 7, 2000, in a Lake City hospital. Funeral services were held Monday, April 10, 2000, in Williamson Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Shane Patrick and directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mrs. Kelly was born in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Needham Rodgers Williamson and Mary Lamyra McCutcheon Williamson. She was retired from the radiology department at Williamsburg County Memorial Hospital and was a member of Lake City First Baptist Church and the Easterling Sunday school class. She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star. She was first married to the late James Russell Graham, Sr. Survivors are; two sons, James Russell Graham, Jr. of Georgetown; and William D. Kelly, Jr. of Charlotte, NC; three daughters, Lois A. Bowen of Lake City; Marguerite K. Stoddard of Charleston; Davyne K. Williamson of Kingstree; one brother, Varnadore Williamson of Charlottesville, VA; one sister, Juanita W. Caulder of Lake City; 12 grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
