Posted By: GenealogyBuff.com FLAGLER -- Funeral services for Mrs. Lizzie Scott Flagler were held May 13, 2000, at Bethel United Methodist Church in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. Sam Lucas. Burial followed in the church's cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Flagler, 90, died May 11, 2000 at her residence. She was born April 10, 1910, in Kingstree, a daughter of the late Jerry Scott and Laura McClary. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, where she served as church secretary for over 50 years, and was a member of the church choir. She was a member of Farmer's Aide Lodge. Survivors are: one daughter, Mrs. Emma F. Cooper of Kingstree; and two sisters, Mrs. Whalie Mae McCullough of Andrews; and Mrs. Neather Mungo of Philadelphia, PA.
MOORE -- Stewart Allen Moore, 27, died Monday, February 7, 2000, in the Lake City hospital. Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 9, 2000, in the Brockington Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the Moore Cemetery directed by Brockington Funeral Home. Mr. Moore was born in Lake City, a son of Sally Moore Mouzon. He attended Pergamos United Methodist Church. Survivors, in addition to his mother of Kingstree, are; his step-father, Keith Mouzon of Kingstree; one brother, M. Lee Moore of Easley; and one step-brother, Shane Mouzon of Kingstree. Memorials may be made to: Pergamos United Methodist Church or Lower Florence County Hospital Auxilliary.
LANCE -- Thomas Lance, Jr. of Georgetown, 69, died Tuesday, February 8, 2000, at his residence. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 12, 2000, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Eddie Gamble, Jr. Burial followed in the church cemetery directed by McKnight-Fraser Funeral Home of Georgetown. Mr. Lance was born September 28, 1930, in Georgetown, a son of the late Willie and Annie Bell Hasbin Lance. He was a retired transportation officer (school bus) with Georgetown County Board of Education. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where he served as chairman of the Trustee Board, an assistant superintendent, a Deacon and a gosepl choir member. Survivors are: his wife, Irene Canteen Lance; five sons, Herbert Lance of Bethel, CT; Ernest Lance of Jacksonville, FL; Joe and Henry Lance of Fulshear, TX; and Thomas H. Lance of Georgetown; two daughters, Rachel Vanderhorst and Raquel Lance of Columbia; one brother, Willie Lance, Jr. of Georgetown; and two sisters, Sadie Hughes and Evangelist Bertha Linen of Georgetown.
BURGESS -- Funeral services for Harold Jhonte Burgess of Kingstree were held Thursday, February 10, 2000, at House of God Keith Dominion in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. Wayne McWhite. Burial followed in Goodwill Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Master Burgess died Saturday, February 5, 2000, at his residence in Kingstree. He was born July 15, 1998, at the Medical University Hospital in Charleston, a son of Harold Burgess, Jr. and Ethel Lee Matthews. Survivors, in addition to his parents, are: a twin sister, Orriani Lehte Jhanese Burgess of the home; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Martha Bell Matthews of Kingstree; his paternal grandparents, Ester Rita Burgess and Harold Burgess, both of Kingstree; his great-grandfather, Tommy Burgess of Kingstree; and his great-grandmother, Mrs. Louise Chatman of Kingstree.
COOPER -- Funeral services for Ollie C. Cooper, Jr. were held Saturday, February 12, 2000, at Greater Bethel AME Church. Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery in Kingstree directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Cooper, 68, died Tuesday, February 8, 2000, at Pallintive Pear Center, V.A. Medical Center in Hampton, VA. He was born April 26, 1931, in Kingstree, a son of the late Ollie Cooper, Sr. and Rebecca Shaw Cooper. He was employed as a truck driver. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War. Survivors are: five daughters, Marilyn Cooper Clark and Irma Cooper, both of Brooklyn, NY; Isabell Brown of Missouri; Mary Elizabeth Cooper McFarlin of NY; and Michelle Cooper of Jersey City, NJ; two step-daughters, Patricia Bynum and Mary Correll of Greensboro, NC; one step-son, Hilton Enoch of Carolina Heights, VA; seven sisters, Elouise Bright and Annie Ruth McClam, both of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Alice Faye McClary of Kingstree; Lillie Ryan of Hollywood, FL; Essie Griffin of Miami, FL; Verline Johnson of Capital Heights, MD; and Helen Lovely of South Bay, FL; and one brother, Doward Cooper of Washington, DC.
BRITTON -- Mae Dell Harter Britton, wife of P. M. Britton, died Saturday, February 12, 2000, in a Kings-tree hospital. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 15, 2000, in the Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Union Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Salters directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Britton was born in Ulmer, SC, a daughter of Bartwell C. and Polly Williams Harter. She was a graduate of Winyah High School and attended Coker College. She was retired from Williamsburg County Department of Social Services and was a member of Union Presbyterian Church in Salters. Survivors are: her husband, P. Mac Britton of Salters; two daughters, Olive Ann Cable of Greensboro, NC; and Carol Denit of Burtonsville, MD; and two brothers, Olin Harter of Scranton and Russell Harter of Salters.
GUINN -- Mrs. Lucille Hough Guinn, 72, died Tuesday, February 8, 2000, in a Florence hospital. Graveside services were held Thursday, February 10, 2000, in McClary Cemetery directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mrs. Guinn was born in Lando, SC, a daughter of Lester and Idella Hough. She was a retired secretary for Waccamaw Regional Health Center and a member of Williamsburg Presbyterian Church. Surviving is one daughter, Jean G. Nexsen.
DUKE -- Clarice Buddin Duke, 93, widow of William Fulton Duke, died Jan. 28, 2000, at her residence. Funeral services were held Sunday, January 30, 2000, in the Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Mouzon Presbyterian Cemetery. Mrs. Duke was born in New Zion, a daughter of the late Mary Lou Boyd Buddin and William James Buddin. She was a graduate of Clarendon County Schools and was a member of Mouzon Presbyterian Church. Survivors are: two sons, Bill Duke and Dan Duke, both of Kingstree; three sisters, Jewel Mae Johnson of Sumter; Lois Crowley of York; and Olive Joye of Kingstree; and one brother, W. J. Buddin, Jr. of Manning.
MORANT -- Funeral services for Leroy "Doome" Morant, Sr. were held Thurs., Feb. 3, 2000, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Lane, conducted by the Rev. Elder B. Holmes. Burial followed in the McKnight Cemetery in Lane directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mr. Morant, 64, died Saturday, January 29, 2000, at the Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning. He was born May 15, 1935, in Lane, a son of the late Willie Morant and Carrie Matthews Morant. He was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. He was employed by a construction company for many years in Bayshore, New York. Survivors are: four daughters, Mrs. Queen Redden and Mrs. Betty Jane Everett, both of Miami, FL; Mrs. Carrie Morant-White of Charlotte, NC; and Mrs. Desiree Seabrooks of Lane; three sons, Leroy Morant, Jr. of Miami, FL; Henry Morant of Kingstree; and Drapier Morant of Wyandanch, NY; two adopted children, Laci Bristel and Wayne Bristel, both of Wyandanch, NY; and three sisters, Mrs. Ida Keels of Lane; Mrs. Rosa Lee Morant of Central Islip, NY; and Inez Morant of Bayshore, NY.
WARD -- Delta S. Ward, Sr., 71, died Tues., Feb. 1, 2000, in Lake City. Funeral services were held Thursday, February 3, 2000, in the Brockington Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the Lake City Memorial Park directed by Brockington Funeral Home. Mr. Ward was born in Florence County, a son of the late Carl Eugene and Letha Blakely Ward. He was a graduate of Scranton High School. He was retired from the SC Forestry Commission as a Fire Warden and was a farmer and owner/operator of the former Letha's Flower Shop and Ward's Clock Repair. He was also associated with Gowdy Grain Company of Lake City. He was a member of Scranton United Methodist Church. He was chairman of the Scranton United Methodist Church Cemetery Committee. He served in the US Army in Korea and was director of the Salem Water Shed. He was a member of the South Lynches Fire Department, Woodmen of the World and a past member of the Lake City Lionšs Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Valerie Felder Ward. Survivors are: one daughter, Jan W. Beard of Lake City; and one son, Delta S. Ward, Jr. of Kingstree.
