HILL -- Graveside services for Mrs. Frances McClary Hill were held Monday, June 27, 2000, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Greeleyville directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Hill died Friday, June 16, 2000, in Philadelphia, PA. She was born July 12, 1938, in Salters, a daughter of the late Ceasar McClary and Lula Murray McClary. She was a member of Macedonia Memorial Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board and sang with the Felder Chorus. She also sang with the First Emmanuel Baptist Church, The Felder Chorus, The Bobby Chestnut Ensemble and The Unity Chorus. She served as co-block captain and block captain of the 2000 Block of N. 8th Street. She was married to Marvin Hill. Survivors are: two daughters, Kim McClary Cole of Fayetteville, NC; and Tracey Hill of Philadelphia, PA; a grandchild, Porshia Torres, whom she raised from an infant; four sisters, Alice McClary of Salters; Carrie McElveen of Philadelphia, PA; Elizabeth Armstrong of Stanford, CT; and Mrs. Amanda Parham of Providence, RI; three brothers, Thomas McClary of Philadelphia, PA; Leroy McClary of Salters; and Ceasar McClary of Providence, RI; and two adoptive children, Stewart Robinson and Darlene Johnson.

GAMBLE -- Funeral services for Mrs. Queen Gamble were held Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at St. John Apostolic Holiness Church in Greeleyville, conducted by Bishop Kenneth Swaringer. Burial followed in the Old Keels Cemetery in Greeleyville directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Gamble, 86, died Friday, June 23, 2000, at her residence in Greeleyville. She was born June 6, 1914, in Greeleyville, a daughter of the late Henry Robinson and Mrs. Daisy Robinson. She was a member of St. John Apostolic Holiness Church, where she served on the Usher Board, as church treasurer, missionary board and as Mother of the Church. Survivors are: five sons, Louis Gamble of Greeleyville; Robert Gamble of Florence; Eugene Gamble of Miami, FL; Elijah Gamble of Thomasville, NC; and Carol Gamble of Greeleyville; three daughters, Mrs. Daisy Scott of Charleston; Mrs. Rosa Golden of St. Stephen; and Mrs. Doreen Gamble of Greeleyville; grandchildren reared as her own, Jaquette Jenkins, Wendell Gamble and Timothy Gamble, all of Greeleyville; and two sisters, Mrs. Phene Chandler of Greeleyville; and Mrs. Lucille Doctor of Charleston.

MARGARET TISDALE -- Mrs. Margaret Leona McKnight Tisdale, 81, widow of John Clyde Tisdale, died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, in a Kingstree hospital. Funeral services were held Thursday, July 27, 2000, in Cedar Grove Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. C. B. Dunn. Burial followed in the church cemetery directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mrs. Tisdale was born in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Eddie McKnight and Alva McKnight Parker. She was a retired farmer and a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. She was very active with Santee Senior Services. Survivors are: one daughter, Margaret Lorene T. Gause of Kingstree; two sons, John Willis Tisdale and Furman Graham Tisdale, both of Kingstree; two brothers, Phillip McKnight of Moncks Corner; and Abram Parker of N. Charleston; and one sister, Julia Alverson of Campobello.

JOE CUNNINGHAM, JR. -- Joe Scott Cunningham, Jr., 65, of New Bern, died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, at Carteret General Hospital. Funeral services were held Thursday, July 27, 2000, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, conducted by the Dr. Steve Batts and the Rev. Steve Simpson. Burial followed in Greenleaf Memorial Park. Mr. Cunningham was the son of Joe Scott and Cornelia Epps Cunningham of Kingstree. He was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church and was a member of the Gideon International New Bern Camp. He was a registered professional engineer and retired after 32 years of service with 27 years at Cherry Point. Survivors are: his wife, LaVerne Cunningham of the home; two sons, Joe Scott Cunningham, III, of Newport, NC; and David Mark Cunningham of Raleigh, NC; and one daughter, Cynthia Cunningham Lancaster of Taiwan.

PATRICIA MONTGOMERY -- Funeral services for Mrs. Patricia Ann Wilson Montgomery were held Monday, July 31, 2000, at St. Asia Baptist Church in Greeleyville, conducted by the Rev. Amos Matthews. Burial followed in the Rocky Ford Cemetery in Salters directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mrs. Montgomery, 42, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence. She was born December 18, 1957, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of Mrs. Elsie Lee Brown Wilson and the late Clarence Wilson. She was a 1975 graduate of C. E. Murray High School in Greeleyville. In 1977, she earned a degree in business administration from Columbia Commercial College in Columbia. She was a member of St. Asia Baptist Church. She was a member of the Friendly Sisters Chapter No. 380, Order of the Eastern Star. She was a textile worker and retired from the Wise Company of Greeleyville in 1997. Survivors, in addition to her mother of Salters, are: her husband, Odell Montgomery of Kingstree; one son, Shawn Odell Montgomery of the home; one daughter, Wanja Lakeisha Montgomery of the home; and two brothers, Jackie Wilson of Salters; and Tony Wilson of West Haven, CT.

DAVIS -- Funeral services for Mrs. Rebecca Pearson Davis were held Sunday, July 2, 2000, at St. John African Methodist Episcopal Church in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. B. I. Green. Burial followed in the churchyard cemetery directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mrs. Davis, 64, died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. She was born April 29, 1936, in New Zion, a daughter of Mrs. Earlene Evans Pearson and the late Sam Robert Pearson. She was a member of St. John African Methodist Episcopal Church, where she was a member of the Trustee Board. She was a farmer and a housewife. She was married to Freddie Davis. Survivors, in addition to her mother of the home, are: two sons, Willie Davis of the home; and Cecil Pearson of Kingstree; one daughter, Mrs. Emma Davis of Kingstree; six brothers, George Pearson and Edward Pearson, both of Turbeville; Robert E. Pearson, Donnie Pearson and Keith Pearson, all of Kingstree; John Edward Pearson of Lake Worth, FL; five sisters, Mrs. Eunice McKenzie of Cocoa, FL; Mrs. Janie Mae York, Mrs. Gracie McKenzie, Almeta Pearson and Mrs. Mildred Pearson, all of Kingstree; and a granddaughter she reared as her own, Mrs. Nicole Porter of Cades.

JEANIE GRAHAM -- Funeral services for Mrs. Jeanie Middleton Graham were held July 5, 2000, at Old Mt. Zion A.M.E. Zion Church in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. Benjamin Miller and the Rev. Linwood Cooper. Burial followed at Greenlawn Cemetery directed by Henryhand Funeral Home. Mrs. Graham died June 29, 2000, at Southern Maryland Hospital in Clinton, MD. She was born July 7, 1906, in Williamsburg County. She was a member of Old Mt. Zion A.M.E. Zion Church. She was the co-founder of the Middleton Dry Cleaners of Kingstree. She was married to the late Willie Middleton and the late Jacob Graham. Survivors are: one son, John (Red) Middleton of Kingstree; and one daughter, Dorothy Satterwhite of Largo, MD; and six step-children, Jacob Graham, Jr., T. L. Graham, Ella Gee Graham, Joe Louis Graham, Peter James Graham and Verdell Bond.

CLEO COLES -- Funeral services for Cleo Coles were held Friday, June 30, 2000, in the Clauddie Henryhand Memorial Chapel. Burial followed at the Walker Chapel Churchyard Cemetery in Hemingway directed by Henryhand Funeral Home. Mr. Coles died June 19 in Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Survivors are: two daughters, Carolyn and Audrey Coles of the home; two sisters, Edna Coles of Atlantic Beach, SC; and Lelia Coles of Norfolk, VA; and one brother, James Coles of Virginia.

WILLIAM SCOTT -- Funeral services for William "Bruce" Scott were held Saturday, July 1, 2000, at Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Carl Shaw directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Scott, 76, died June 23, 2000, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. He was born January 10, 1924, in Salters, a son of the late John Scott and Carolina Scott. He was a member of Promiseland Baptist Church and a farmer. Survivors are: one son, John Scott of Chester, PA; five daughters, Joyce Scott, Nova Scott, Ann Tora Scott and Ella Scott, all of Chester, PA; Jane Gamble of Brooklyn, NY; and three sisters, Lucille Scott of Brooklyn, NY; Hester Scott of Detriot, MI; and Esther Keels of Salters.

LANNIE JAMES -- Funeral services for Mrs. Lannie Murphy James were held Saturday, July 1, 2000, at Evangelistic Temple Way of The Cross Church in Kingstree. Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery in Kingstree directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. James died Sat., June 24, 2000, at Braeloch Health Care Facility in Rochester, NY. She was born in 1920 in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Lewis Murphy and Gladys Watson Murphy. Survivors are: six sons, Fred Robinson James of Williams-port, PA; Chancey Lee James, Clyde Edward James and Eugene James, all of Philadelphia, PA; Theron James and Riley R. James of Rochester, NY; two daughters, Mrs. Catherine Holloman of Phil-adelphia, PA; and Mrs. Alma Gause of Rochester, NY; two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Fulton of Kingstree; and Mrs. Dianne Hickson of Philadelphia, PA; five brothers, Bernard Murphy, Jerry Murphy, Donald Murphy, Danny Murphy and Freddie Murphy, all of Washington, DC; and her step-mother, Mrs. Alberta Murphy of Washington, DC.
