Franklin and the Rev. Frankie White. Burial followed at Kingstree Cemetery in Kingstree directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mr. Franklin, 72, died Saturday, August 12, 2000, at Carolinas Hospital System-Kingstree. He was born June 28, 1928, in Kingstree, a son of the late George and Maggie McClary Franklin Dantzler. He was married to the late Elizabeth "Jannie Lee" Shaw Franklin. Survivors are: fours sons, Nemiah Franklin of Columbia; Sammie Lee Franklin of Gainesville, FL; Luther Cain Franklin of Ridgeland; Daniel Franklin of Kingstree; and Steve Franklin of Ridgeville; four daughters, Mrs. Luvenia Brockington, Virginia Franklin and Debra L. Franklin, all of Kingstree; and Mrs. Virginia McFadden of New York, NY; four brothers, Esaw Dantzler, Jacob Dantzler, Dozier Frank-lin and Elder O. D. Franklin, all of Kingstree.
ALICE G. SNOWDEN -- Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Gamble Snowden were held Saturday, August 12, 2000, at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Salters, conducted by the Rev. Samuel Cooper. Burial followed in the Jerusalem United Methodist Churchyard Cemetery in Salters directed by Henryhand Funeral Home. Mrs. Snowden died Tuesday, August 8, 2000, at the residence in Salters. She was born February 15, 1903, in Williamsburg County, the daughter of the late Cornelius Gamble and Nancy Gamble. She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. She was married to the late Robert Snowden. She was a housewife. Survivors are: one son, Prince Snowden of Detroit, MI; and four daughters, Oraie S. Mouzon of the home; Florida Davis of Detroit, MI; Nancy Randolph of Salters; and Susie McCray of Clearwater, FL.
CANDACE I. BROWN -- Funeral services for Mrs. Candace I. Brown were held Saturday, August 12, 2000, at Faith United Methodist Church in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. Harold Gordon. Burial followed in the church's cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Brown, 84, died Monday, August 7, 2000, in Boston, MA. She was born June 16, 1916, in Palatka, FL, a daughter of the late Zachary Brown and Josephine Henry. She was a graduate of Dunbar High School in Florida. She was also a graduate of Apex School of Beauty and Chandler Secretarial School in Boston, MA. She was the first treasurer of the Black Methodists for Church Renewal; Southern New England Conference. She was a delegate to the General Conference of the United Methodist Church. She was a Past Daughter Ruler of the I.B.P.O.E. of W. (Elks) and a member of the Easter Star. She was a past president of the United Methodist Women, at the Church of all Nations in Boston, MA and attended Faith United Methodist Church in Kingstree. She was also a Sunday school teacher at both churches. She was also the founder and president of the Urban Living Project in Boston. She was a certified lay speaker and chairperson of the Residentıs Council at Sherrill House Long Term Care Facility in Boston. She worked closely with Red Cross students at Sherrill House, where she also organized Black History Month and Motherıs Day celebrations and exhibits. Survivors are: one son, Roosevelt Molden, Jr. of Lake City, FL; four daughters, Vaughncille Molden, Patricia Molden and Mrs. Betty Jean Wilson, all of Boston, MA; and Stephanie McAskill of Kingstree.
PINCKNEY FULTON, JR. -- Funeral services for Pinckney Fulton, Jr. were held Monday, August 14, 2000, at Siloam Baptist Church in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. Francis Burrows. Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery in Kingstree directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Fulton, 85, died August 10, 2000, at Carolinas Hospital System-Kingstree. He was born December 29, 1924, in Kingstree, a son of the late Pinckney Fulton, Sr. and Anna Mullins. He was formerly employed as a police officer with the Town of Kingstree and as a security guard at Kingstree Senior High School. He was a veteran of the US Army. He fought in the Korean War and received the Purple Heart Medal. He was a member of Siloam Baptist Church, where he served on the Trustee Board. He was a member of Lampkin Masonic Lodge No. 15. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Eliza Fulton of Kingstree; one son, Landis Fulton of Kingstree; one sister, Mrs. Agnes Pressley of Kingstree; two foster sisters, Mrs. Mary Fulton of Kingstree and Mrs. Erma Parsley of Kingstree; and one brother, Daniel Fulton of Kingstree.
LOUISE BRAND -- Funeral services for Mrs. Louise Epps Brand were held Saturday, August 12, 2000, at Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Brand, 73, died Friday, August 4, 2000, at her residence in New Zion. She was born March 29, 1927, in Kingstree, a daughter of the late Robert Epps and Phyllis Smith. She was a member of Beulah A.M.E. Church. She was employed at Hotel in New York for many years. Survivors are: one reared as a daughter, Elouise Brand of New Zion; one brother, Cecil Epps of West Palm Beach, FL; and one adopted sister, Mrs. Emma Jane Epps of Brooklyn, NY.
BILLY JOE MATTHEWS -- Billy Joe Matthews, 57, died Monday, August 14, 2000, in a Florence hospital. Funeral services were held Thursday, August 17, 2000, in the Lake City Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial followed in the Lake City Memorial Park directed by Brockington Funeral Home. Mr. Matthews was born in Lake City, a son of the late Stanley LeRoy and Katherine Kirby Matthews. He was a graduate of Lake City High School and regional sales representative for Eagle Claw. He was a member of Lake City Pentecostal Holiness Church, where he served as an usher. He was a mason, member of the Scranton Lodge and retired from the Lake City Unit of the South Carolina National Guard. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Freddia Mims Matthews of Lake City; two sons, Billy J. "Bill" Matthews, Jr. of Lake City; and Brad Matthews of Florence; two brothers, Donny L. Matthews of Scranton; and Howard E. Matthews of Florence; and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Beulah Mims of Turbeville.
WILLIAM LEE ALTMAN -- William Lee Altman, 75, died Sunday, August 13, 2000, in a Manning hospital. Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 16, 2000, in the Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Mike Murdoch. Burial followed in New Zion Methodist Church Cemetery directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mr. Altman was born in Williamsburg County, a son of Melba Moore Altman and Bryant Altman. He served in the US Army and Navy during World War II and was a retired construction worker. He was a member of Grace Christian Fellowship Church in Manning. Survivors are: three sons, Carl Altman of Effingham; Ronnie Altman of Pawleys Island; and William Altman, Jr. of Fayetteville, GA; one daughter, Mrs. Terry Powell of Kingstree; three sisters, Linnie Mae McCutchen of Kingstree; Thelma Ward and Janice Young, both of Andrews; and one brother, Oneal Altman.

JOE WESLEY BOYD -- Funeral services for Joe Wesley Boyd, 40, were held Saturday, August 12, 2000, at the Apostolic Faith Mission Church in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. William McClary and Elder Elijah Green. Burial followed in St. Michael United Methodist Church Cemetery in the Cedar Swamp Community directed by Kingstree Funeral Home. Mr. Boyd died Friday, August 4, 2000, at the McLeod Regional Medical Center. He was born May 27, 1960, in Williamsburg County, a son of Josephine Chandler Wilson and the late Norman Boyd. He attended Warner Tailoring and Designer School. Formerly, he was employed by the Florence County Sheriff's Department. He was employed by Lubri Source. Survivors, in addition to his mother of Philadelphia, PA, are: three children, Rasheem Boyd and Sonia Boyd, both of Philadephia, PA; and Raheem Wesley Burrell of Florence; two brothers, Norman Boyd and Kinley Wilson, Jr., both of Philadelphia, PA; and three sisters, Gloria Boyd of Philadelphia, PA; Mrs. Isabel Gibson of Florence; and Bettie Jean Mitchum of Georgia.
PRITCHARD -- Funeral services for Roy Rodgers Pritchard were held Wed., June 7, 2000, at the William N. Redmond Memorial Chapel in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. Terrence L. Washington. Burial followed at St. John Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Greeleyville directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mr. Pritchard, 52, died May 31, 2000, at the Northwest Hospital Center, Randallstown, in Baltimore, MD. He was born February 2, 1949, in Salters, the son of the late Louie and Mary Rosenia Bradshaw White Pritchard. He was employed as a linesman with Farmers Telephone Coop. in Kingstree. Survivors are: one son, Leon Lewis of Baltimore, MD; one step-daughter, LaTonya Summerville of Baltimore, MD; five sisters, Ida McClary, Mrs. Magdelene Burgess, Patricia Mabry and Constance Madison, all of Kingstree; and Barbara Jean Crawford of Tujuga, CA.
