Posted By: GenealogyBuff.com WALLACE -- Funeral services for Anthony Lee Wallace were held Friday, June 9, 2000, at the William N. Redmond Memorial Chapel in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. James E. Scott. Burial followed at the Saint Michael United Methodist Church Cemetery in Kingstree directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mr. Wallace, 34, died Sat., June 3, 2000, at Conway Hospital in Conway. He was born October 3, 1965, in Chicago, IL, a son of Willie Dave Wallace and Sandra Lee Jackson Wallace. He graduated from Leo High School in Chicago, IL. He attended Williamsburg Technical College in Kingstree. He was a member of Saint Michael United Methodist Church. He was employed by Conway Nursing Home as a nursing assistant. Survivors, in addition to his parents, are: three brothers, Michael Wallace of Orlando, FL; Charles Wallace of Conway; and Sgt. William Wallace of San Diego, CA.
GAMBLE -- Mrs. Edith White Gamble, 76, widow of Henry Sims Gamble, Jr., died Friday, June 9, 2000, in a Charleston hospital. Funeral services were held Sunday, June 11, 2000, at Greeleyville United Methodist Church. Burial followed at Mt. Hope Cemetery directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mrs. Gamble was born in Sumter, a daughter of Anna Belle Hindman White and James Ryan White, Sr. She graduated from Winthrop College. She was a retired school teacher with 38 years of service in Williamsburg County schools, having taught in Kingstree and Greeleyville. She was a member of Greeleyville United Methodist Church. Survivors are: one daughter, Dianne G. Hughes of Pinopolis, SC; and one brother, Ryan White of Walterboro, SC.
ARCHIE -- Funeral services for Mrs. Justine Fulmore Archie were held June 10, 2000, at Faith United Methodist Church in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. Harold Gordon and Bishop Roosevelt Fulton. Burial followed at Elizabeth Fulmore Cemetery in Kingstree directed by Dimery and Rogers. Mrs. Archie, 51, died Friday, June 2, 2000, at her residence in Flushing, NY. She was born Nov. 1, 1948, in Kingstree, a daughter of Mrs. Ocelia Primus and the late Ben Fulmore. She graduated from Cades High School. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. She was employed at Waterview Nursing Home Center in Flushing, NY. She was married to the late Bobby Eugene Archie. Survivors, in addition to her mother of Miami, FL, are: one son, Eugene Ben Archie of Flushing, NY; three brothers, Bernard Fulmore of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Zack Fulmore of Miami Lakes, FL; and Robert Fulmore of Kingstree; and three sisters, Mrs. Rosetta Davis of Savannah, GA; Cordelia Fulmore and Mrs. Tammy Elmore, both of Miami, FL.
WALKER -- Funeral services for Mrs. Cathleen Goss Walker were held Monday, June 12, 2000, at Mt. Olive Seventh Day Adventist Church in Hemingway, conducted by Pastor James West. Burial followed in the church's cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Walker, 73, died Wednesday, June 7, 2000, at MUSC in Charleston. She was born September 27, 1926, in Georgetown County, a daughter of the late Drayton Goss and Daisy Bell Walker Goss. She was a member of Mt. Olive Seventh Day Adventist Church, where she was affiliated with the Deaconess, Missionary and Usher Boards. She was married to the late Edgar Walker. Survivors are: three sons, Willie James Walker, James Walker and Calvin Walker, all of Hemingway; five sisters, Mrs. Gladys Wilson, Mrs. Jestine Davis, Mrs. Rosa Verner, Mrs. Patricia Linnen and Mrs. Catherine Nesmith, all of Hemingway; three sisters, Mrs. Alberta Fleming of Pamplico; Mrs. Estella Walker of Hemingway; and Mrs. Virginia Davis of Gresham, SC; and her husbandıs children, who were like her own, Nathaniel Langley of Maples, FL; Robert Lee Langley, Jimmy Lee Langley, Christine Pittman and Willie Langley, all of Hemingway.
COOPER -- Funeral services for Janye Ethel Cooper were held June 12, 2000, at Bethesda United Methodist Church in Lake City, conducted by the Rev. Franklin Garret. Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers. Ms. Cooper, 84, died June 8, at her residence in Kingstree. She was born June 15, 1915, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late James Wade Hampton Cooper and Lena Jeannette McFadden. She was a graduate of Benedict College Class of 1939. She was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church. Survivors are: one sister, Mrs. Rochelle Pinson of Winston-Salem, NC; she reared: Robert H. Eugene Cooper of Cades; Mrs. Verlaria Cooper and Velva Cooper, both of New York; Lowell Russell Cooper of New York; and Mrs. Jean Cooper Stewart of Augusta, GA; and one godson, Demetrius Ty-ronne Stewart of Augusta, GA.
COUNCIL -- Funeral services for Mrs. Janie Mae Mabray Council were held Thursday, June 15, 2000, at C. E. Murray Gymnatorium in Greeleyville, conducted by the Rev. Odell Simpson and the Rev. Francis Burrows. Burial followed in the Central Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Salters directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mrs. Council, 68, died Saturday, June 10, 2000, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. She was born December 6, 1931, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late James and Gussie Montgomery Mabray. She earned a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from Benedict College in Columbia. She did further studies at the University of South Carolina, South Carolina State University and Francis Marion University. After 29 years of service, she retired from teaching.She was a member of Central Missionary Baptist Church. She was affiliated with the following organizations and committees: NEA, SCEA, WCEA, NAACP, Teacher of the Year (St. Mark Elementary School), Who's Who Among America's Teachers (national); Delta Tau Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.; Directress of the Williamsburg Missionary Baptist and Educational Association Choir, District Associate Deputy Order of Eastern Star (PHA), Past Worthy Matron of Williamsburg Chapter No. 341, Order of Eastern Star; Parent and Teacher Association, Christian Christmas Savings Club and various other school and civic committees. Survivors are: her husband, the Rev. James Edward Council of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Beverly C. Graham of Salters; and Mrs. Della M. Hill of Jonesville, SC; one step-daughter, Jeannette Scales of Holly Hill, SC; two brothers, Elijah Mabry and Albert Mabry, both of Salters; a cousin, reared as a sister, Mrs. Virginia Gamble Hardy of Hemstead, NY.
BARR -- Funeral services for Mrs. Susan Barr were held Wed., June 14, 2000, at Elijah United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Jonathan Brown, Jr. Burial followed at Elijah United Methodist Church Cemetery directed by McClary's Funeral Home. Mrs. Barr, a domestic worker, died June 9, 2000, at Carolinas Hospital System-Kingstree. She was born October 13, 1913, in Kingstree, the daughter of the late Lewise and Binah Washington. She was a member of Elijah United Methodist Church. Survivors are: three daughters, Mrs. Naomi Fulton of Brooklyn, New York; Mrs. Minnie Cooper of Dillon; and Mrs. Susan Bradley of Kingstree; one son, Johnny Barr of Kingstree; one sister, Mrs. Nattie Thomas of Atlanta, GA; and three brothers, Lewise Washington and Theador Barr, both of Miami, FL; and Tom Barr of Kingstree.
ANDREW CLIFFORD WEST -- Funeral services for Andrew Clifford "Redd" West were held Sunday, September 17, 2000, at Black River Baptist Church in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. Ernest Scott. Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home was in charge of burial. Mr. West, 42, died Monday, September 11, 2000, at his residence in Kingstree. He was born December 17, 1957, in Miami, FL, a son of the late Johnny West and Maybell Fulton West. He was reared by Johnny Wallace (Lillie) and the late Laura Wallace. He was a member of Black River Baptist Church. He worked as a certified carpenter, plumber and electrician for many years. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Shirley West of Kingstree; five children, Andrita West and Colia West, both of Kingstree; Angel West and Andrew West, Jr., both of Pawleyıs Island; and Rasheen West of Camden, NJ; three sisters, Mrs. Gwendolyn Pressley, Mrs. Alicia Shaw and Mrs. Cherry Porchea, all of Kingstree; and his grandfather, Johnny Wallace (Lillie) of Kingstree.
LEOLA IZZARD FORD -- Viewing for Mrs. Leola Izzard Ford was held Saturday, September 16, 2000, at Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home in Kingstree. Burial followed at Rockyford Cemetery in Salters directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Ford, 86, died Thursday, September 7, 2000, at St. Agnes Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. She was born July 15, 1914, a daughter of the late Charles Izzard and Mattie Footman Izzard. She was a member of First African Baptist Church in Pennsylvania, where she was a Sunday school teacher and the assistant superintendent. Survivors are: her husband, Ashley Ford of Philadelphia, PA; and one sister, Mrs. Elease Ford of Salters.
JOHN H. McKNIGHT, SR. -- Funeral services for John Henry McKnight, Sr. were held Saturday, September 23, 2000, at Bethesda United Methodist Church in Lake City, conducted by the Rev. Franklin Garrett. Burial followed in Doctor James Cemetery in Kingstree directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mr. McKnight, 62, died Monday, September 18, 2000, at the McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence. He was born July 13, 1938, in Kingstree, a son of Mrs. Lillie Adamson McKnight and the late Adam "Bunnie" McKnight. He was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church. In 1989, after many years of service he retired from New Jersey Bell Communication where he worked as a technician. He was married to the former Ida Powell. Survivors, in addition to his mother of Kingstree, are: three sons, John H. McKnight, Jr. and Alvin Skipper, both of Lake City; and Keith McKnight of Redding, PA; two daughters, Sharon McKnight of Redding, PA; and Janice McKnight of Jersey City, NJ; three brothers, James McKnight of Jersey City, NJ; David "Cornelius" McKnight and Manning "Tommy" McKnight, both of Newark, NJ; one sister, Mrs. Esther Mae Robinson of Jersey City, NJ; and two grandchildren he reared as his own, DeShawn McKnight and DeShawna McKnight, both of Redding, PA.
