Posted By: GenealogyBuff.com JERRY PARSON -- Funeral services for Jerry Parson were held Saturday, October 28, 2000, at Bethel A.M.E. Church in Gourdine, conducted by the Rev. Clifford Levine. Burial followed at Cowhead Cemetery in Lane directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Parson, 45, died Sat., October 21, 2000, at Howard County Hospital in Columbia, MD. He was born August 22, 1955, in New York City, NY, a son of Mrs. Fannie Parson. He was a graduate of C.E. Murray High School and SC State College. He was employed as a software engineer at Northerop Grumman Essip Center in Baltimore, MD. Survivors, in addition to his mother of Lane, are: his wife, Mrs. Deborah Parson of the home; one son, Jerry Riggins of Greeleyville; and two daughters, Naketa Parson and Kendra Parson, of Maryland.
CARL LOUIS BROWN -- Funeral services for Carl Louis Brown were held Wed., November 1, 2000, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. Willie Wilson. Burial followed at Wesley United Methodist Church Cemetery in Lane directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Brown, 79, died Sat., October 28, 2000, at Roper Hospital in Charleston. He was born December 25, 1920, in Jacksonville, FL, a son of the late Johnny Brown and Susie Elizabeth Anderson Roberts. He was a veteran of the US Army. He was a civil service employee for 20 years. He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Alberta Brown of Salters; one son, Lorenza Terry of San Antonio, TX; one daughter, Alberta Brown of Salters; and three sisters, Mrs. Van Ester Roberts, Mrs. Elizabeth Ingram, Mrs. Mildred Boyd, all of Miami, FL.
MICHAEL LEROY DUKE -- Michael Leroy "Mike" Duke, 37, died Tuesday, October 31, 2000, at his home. Funeral services were held Fri., Nov. 3, at St. Phillips Neri Catholic Church in Fort Mill. Mr. Duke was born June 10, 1963, in Williamsburg County, the son of Daniel Leroy Duke and Jeannette Osborne Duke. He worked as a contractor and he built sets for the movies, Saint Maybe, Carrie 2, The Patriot and Days of Thunder. He also served in the United States Army. Survivors, in addition to his parents of Kingstree, are: his wife, Mary Beth Thompson Duke, two daughters, Michelle Elaine Thompson and Meredith Anne Thompson, both of the home; one brother, Gary Neal Duke of Plano, TX; one sister, Linda Louise Horton of Kingstree; and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Herbert Osborne of Maggie Valley, NC.
IRENE CHATFIELD -- Funeral services for Mrs. Irene "Mink" Cooper Chatfield were held Nov. 4, at Union Freewill Baptist Church in Kingstree, conducted by Bishop L. H. Burns. Burial followed at Elijah United Meth-odist Church Cemetery in Kingstree directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mrs. Chatfield, 60, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. She was born Feb. 8, 1940, in Kingstree, a daughter of the late Eugene "Son" and Marie Harrison Cooper. She was a member of Union Freewill Baptist Church. She worked for a number of years as a household technician in Miami, FL. Survivors are: her husband, Albert Chatfield, Jr. of the home; three sons, Albert Chatfield, III of Columbia; Quinton Chatfield and Quamane Chatfield, both of Kingstree; four daughters, Mrs. Alberta Myers and Cathy Williams, both of Kingstree; Mrs. Jodi Mack of Jacksonville, FL; and Lorraine Cooper of Walterboro; and three sisters, Mrs. Margurite Brown of Lake City; Mrs. Lottie McCrea and Mrs. Christine Brockington, both of Kingstree.
DENNIS GADSON -- Funeral services for Dennis Gadson were held November 7, 2000, at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Salters, conducted by the Rev. C. W. Green. Burial followed at Crossroad Cemetery in Salters directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Gadson, 44, was born June 15, 1956, in Salters, a son of the late Ollie Gadson and Alice Gadson. He was a graduate of Kingstree Senior High School. He was a former employee of Colonial Rubber Plant in Kingstree. He was a veteran of the US Army. Survivors are: two brothers, Harold Gadson of Bridgeport, CT; and Leroy Gadson of Salters; and one sister, Mrs. Barbara Rodgers of Bridgeport, CT.
ANNA McCLARIN-WATSON -- Funeral services for Mrs. Anna L. McClarin-Watson were held Saturday, November 4, 2000, at Bethel A.M.E. Church in Lane, conducted by the Rev. Clifford Levine. Burial followed at McKnight Cemetery in Lane directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Watson, 73, died in Brooklyn, NY. She was born August 8, 1926, a daughter of the late Thomas and Wagner Eula Davis-McClarin. She was a graduate of State University of New York. She was a member of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church. She served as the president of "The McClarin Sisters" for 24 years. She was also a member of the Star of Hope Grand Chapter under the jurisdiction of the King Solomon Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Masons, NYC and was a past matron of Golden Rule chapter #67, member of Omega Palace #2, Queen of the South, past Royal Matron of Queen Esther Court #7 and Royal & Exalted Order of the Amaranth. She was married to the late Roosevelt Watson. Survivors are: four sisters, Siller Conyers of Salters; Sarah Simpkins, Nettie Ruth McCullough and Grace Lee Carter, all of New York City, NY; one brother, James Kelly McClarin of New York City, NY; six children, Leroy McClarin, Sr., Eula Mae McClarin, Andre Watson and Edna Delores Watson, all of New Jersey; Diana McClarin of Raleigh, NC; and Anthony Watson of New York City, NY.
SADIE LAWSON -- Funeral services for Mrs. Sadie Lawson were held Nov. 5, 2000 at Bethlehem A.M.E. Church in Hemingway, conducted by the Rev. Franklin Scott. Burial followed at the churchıs cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Lawson, 85, died October 31, 2000, at Winyah Nursing Facility in Georgetown. She was born Oct. 14, 1915, in Hemingway, a daughter of the late Vincent Lewis and Catherine Self Lewis. She was a member of Bethlehem A.M.E. Church, where she served as President of the Senior Choir, a Church Missionary and a Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of Home Charity Lodge. Survivors are: two sons, Charles Lawson and Johnny Lewis, both of Hemingway; one daughter, Mrs. Mary-Francis Scott of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and two brothers, Saul Lewis and Roy Lewis, both of Newark, NJ.
ROOSEVELT BROWN -- Funeral services for Roosevelt Brown were held Monday, November 6, 2000, at Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Andrews, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Hermon Gibson, Jr. Burial followed at the churchyard cemetery directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mr. Brown, 60, died Wednesday, November 1, 2000, at the home of his sister in Kingstree. He was born Jan. 26, 1940, in Andrews, a son of the late Reggie and Eliza ³Bay² Scott Brown. He was employed for several years as a machine operator with a trophy manufacturer in Bronx, NY. Survivors are: two sons, Gary Washington and George Washington, both of Bronx, NY; one daughter, Tracey Washington of Moncks Corner; and three sisters, Mrs. Earlene Seabrooks of the home; Mary Alice Brown of Kingstree; and Mrs. Louise Wright of Rochester, NY.
ALICE PARNELL McCREA -- Alice Vonciel Parnell (Ma-Ma) McCrea, 100, widow of James M. McCrea, died Wed., Nov. 1, 2000, in a Manning hospital. Funeral services were held Friday, November 3, 2000, in the Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Tisdale Cemetery directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mrs. McCrea was born in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late William H. Parnell and Martha Mims Parnell. She was a retired farmer, a member of Piney Forest Baptist Church and a member of the Spanish-American War Auxiliary. Survivors are: four sons, Davis McCrea and Sammy A. McCrea, both of Kingstree; Raeford McCrea of Loris; and Henry T. McCrea of Greeleyville; and two daughters, Adelaide Sypolt of Manning; and Rounette Joye of Kingstree.
HENRY A. LANE -- Henry A. Lane, 80, died Wed., Nov. 1, 2000, in a Kingstree hospital. Funeral services were held Fri., Nov. 3, 2000, in the Kingstree Presbyterian Church. Burial followed at Kingstree Memorial Gardens directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mr. Lane was born in 1920, a son of Mary Lee Rogers Lane and Albert L. Lane. He was retired owner of Kingstree Automotive. He was a member of Kingstree Presbyterian Church and was involved with the Mens Prayer Breakfast Group and The Gideons. Survivors are: one daughter, Mary Frances Byrdic of Kingstree; two sons, Ronald Lane and Donald Lane, both of Kingstree; and four sisters, Alberta Simmons of Georgetown; Estelle Pickard and Cecile Lane of FL; and Rose Stein of Pennsylvania.
