James Johns

ROCK HILL - Mr. James Edward "Jim" Johns of Greenbay Drive died Friday, May 7, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Bass Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bass Funeral Home.

Bessie Kennington

YORK - Mrs. Bessie Sue Causby Kennington, 71, of York died Thursday, May 6, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Baptist Church, with the Rev. James Barnes officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery.

A native of Shelby, N.C., Mrs. Kennington was a daughter of the late Charles Alexander Causby and Annie Lee Stringfellow Causby. She was the widow of John Kennington. She was a former employee of Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co.

Surviving are her son, Dean Sealey of York; her companion, John Henderson of York; three grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, 2711 Middleburg Drive, Kittrell Center, Suite 205, Columbia, SC 29204.

Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.

Frank Mobley

KERSHAW - Mr. Frank Manuel Mobley, 83, of 1206 Three C's Road, died Thursday, May 6, 1999, at Kershaw County Medical Center in Camden.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Hanging Rock United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Eugene Feagin officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Kershaw, Mr. Mobley was a son of the late Massey Morban Mobley and Margaret Henrietta Hendrix Mobley. He was retired from Springs Industries and was a member of Hanging Rock United Methodist Church. He was the widower of Sallie Cauthen Mobley.

Surviving are his daughter, Marie Mobley of Kershaw; his brother, John M. Mobley of Kershaw; his sister, Kathryn Hayes of Rock Hill; and his great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends at home after the service.

Memorials may be made to Hanging Rock United Methodist Church, Kershaw, SC 29067.

Bessie Parker

CLOVER - Mrs. Bessie Branham Parker, 89, formerly of Clover, died Wednesday, May 5, 1999, at Magnolia Nursing Home in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Kings Mountain Chapel United Methodist Church in York, with the Rev. Paul Ballard officiating. Burial will be at Woodside Cemetery.

A native of Camden, Mrs. Parker was a daughter of the late Henry Branham and Mary Watts Branham. She was the widow of George Parker. She was a member of Kings Mountain Chapel United Methodist Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Alice Nichols of York, Mary Neely of Clover and Alliene Burns of Tirzah; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the home of Alice Nichols, 120 Ramah Church Road, York.

M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home in Clover is in charge.

Geneva Robinson

CATAWBA - Mrs. Geneva Robinson, 71, of 247 Leisure Lane died Friday, May 7, 1999, at Kershaw Medical Center in Camden.

Arrangements will be announced by Greene Funeral Home.

Manuel Waldrop

CLOVER - Mr. Manuel N. Waldrop, 53, of Echo Springs Circle died Thursday, May 6, 1999.

Arrangements will be announced by York Funeral Home.

Charlie Williams Sr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Charlie R. Williams Sr. of 1103 Crawford Road died Wednesday, May 5, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. W.W. Thompson officiating and the Rev. Ralph Cunningham assisting. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Chester, Mr. Williams was a son of the late James Williams and Mary Williams. He was retired from the South Carolina Highway Department. He was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. He was a member of the Natural Supreme Council A&A Scottish Rite of the Freemason King Solomon Lodge No. 234 and Boyd Temple Shriners No. 35. He was a member of the AB&P Society No. 2. He was a veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Emma Ruth Williams; two sons, Charlie Richard William Jr. and Bobby James Williams, both of Rock Hill; four daughters, Annie Dell Williams, Emma Ruth Williams, both of the home, and Mary Patricia McCullough and Jeannette Williams, both of Rock Hill; his brother, James Williams of Rock Hill; four sisters, Alberta Davis and Mary Helen Holly, both of Charlotte, Maggie Williams of Washington, D.C., and Evelyn Rosie of New York; and eight grandchildren.

The body may be viewed from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Robinson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at home.

The body will be taken to the church at 12:30 p.m. Monday.

Harriett Baucom

LENOIR, N.C. - Mrs. Harriett Lander Baucom, 69, of 3250 Brookshire Road died Tuesday, May 4, 1999, at Catawba Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Warlick Funeral Home in Lincolnton, N.C., with the Rev. Brent Price officiating. A graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte.

A native of Lincoln County, N.C., Mrs. Baucom was a daughter of the late William Lander and Buna Lineberger Lander. She was the widow of William F. Baucom. She retired as owner and operator of Globe Lake Campground.

Surviving are three sons, William Baucom of Rock Hill and Samuel Baucom and Ronald Baucom, both of Lenoir; two sisters, Bobbie L. Willis of Lincolnton, N.C., and Mary Lu Lander of Heatherow, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight and from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Thursday at Warlick Funeral Home.

Melvin Byron

FORT MILL - The Rev. Melvin Monroe Byron, 78, of 113 Brookshire Drive died Monday, May 3, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Friday at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Revs. Steve Allen, Merv Horst, Steve Jacks, Vaudie Lambert Jr. and Roy Creamer officiating. Burial will be at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens.

A native of DeSoto, Mo., the Rev. Byron was a son of the late William Byron and Frances Manese Byron. He was a retired minister with the Alabama District of Assemblies of God. He pastored for 44 years, was the Presbytery of the Mobile Section for many years and was Youth Sunday school Representative with the District of Alabama. He was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church.

The Rev. Byron was an Army veteran of World War II and reached the rank of sergeant. He was wounded at Normandy Beach, for which he earned a Purple Heart.

Surviving are his wife, Deen Burns Byron; two daughters, Sandra Byron Bernard of Fort Mill and S. Darlene Allen of Columbia; two brothers, Clayton Byron and Randall Byron, both of DeSoto, Mo.; his sister, Rosalie Bell of Mesa, Ariz.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Faith Assembly of God, 2800 Faith Blvd., Rock Hill, SC 29732.
