Johnny Wright

ROCK HILL - Mr. Johnny Robert Wright, 55, of 1687 Norris Drive died Sunday, May 2, 1999.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Fort Mill Church of God, with the Revs. David Kemp and Thomas Little officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Wright was a son of Katherine Porter Wright of Rock Hill and the late Leroy Wright. He was a member of the Fort Mill Church of God. He worked as a tinsmith at Celanese Corp. and was a member of United AFL-CIO-CLS Local 1093-T.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Joyce Quinn Wright; two daughters, Rhonda Marie Wright of the home and Melena W. Maggart of Rock Hill; his brother, Wayne Leroy Wright of Rock Hill; and two grandsons.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Fort Mill Church of God Mission Fund, 221 Academy St., Fort Mill, SC 29715.

Melvin Morgan

LANCASTER - Mr. Melvin Morgan, 65, of 2829 Lyndell Way died Wednesday, May 5, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Mahaffey Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wayne Dickson officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Vannie Morgan and Carmie Holden Morgan. He was a retired, self-employed construction landscaper.

Surviving are his wife, Azilee Norton Morgan of Lancaster; his son, Mike Morgan of Myrtle Beach; three daughters, Wanda Ghent and Melba Whitaker, both of Lancaster, and Sheila Phillips of Myrtle Beach; three brothers, Billy Morgan, Roger Morgan and Jake Morgan, all of Kershaw; three sisters, Elsie Deason of Charlotte, Myrtis Holden of Kershaw and Margie Floyd of Rose Hill, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Lancaster, 800 W. Meeting St., Lancaster, SC 29720.

Che Olszewski

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Che Price Olszewski, 74, of 827 Ragin Lane died Sunday, May 2, 1999, at Beverly Health Care.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Hollywood Cemetery in Gastonia, N.C., with Father John Giuliani officiating.

A native of Laurens, Mrs. Olszewski was a daughter of the late Harvey L. Price Sr. and Elmina McFadden Price. She was a homemaker and was of the Catholic faith.

Surviving are her son, Theodore Matthew Marko III of Rock Hill; her daughter, Carol Ann Ferrell of Greenville; her brother, Harvey Lawson Price Jr. of Greenville; her sister, Elaine Shields of Joliet, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Matt Marko, 827 Ragin Lane.

Helen Pettus

INDIAN LAND - Mrs. Helen Ross Pettus, 88, of Indian Land died Tuesday, May 4, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Belair United Methodist Church in Fort Mill, with the Rev. Steve McCormick officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Indian Land, Mrs. Pettus was a daughter of the late Tom Ross and Jody Howey Ross and was the widow of Horton Pettus. A retired registered nurse with Springs Memorial Hospital, Mrs. Pettus was a graduate of Fennel Infirmary Nursing School in Rock Hill and the University of South Carolina-Lancaster nursing program. She was a member of Belair United Methodist Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Joanne Reeder of Camden, Judy Hawkins Anderson of Fort Mill and Jan Ricketson of Charlotte; her brother, Ladd Ross of Rock Hill; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Belair United Methodist Church after the service.

Memorials may be made to Belair United Methodist Church, 8095 Shelley Mullis Road, Fort Mill, SC 29715.

Elihue Robinson

ROCK HILL - Mr. Elihue Robinson of 338 Arnold St. died Wednesday, May 5, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Macon Funeral Home in Rock Hill, with the Rev. W.B. White officiating. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Robinson was a son of the late Arther Robinson and Rachel Phillips Robinson. He attended York County public schools, was a veteran of World War II and was retired from the Ideal Stationery Shop in New York.

Surviving are two sons, James L. Robinson of Rock Hill and Ernest Robinson of New York; two daughters, Ingring Robinson and Ersula Robinson, both of New York; his sister, Macie R. Henderson of Rock Hill; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 tonight at Macon Funeral Home, and at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Macon Henderson, 268 Lucky Lane, Rock Hill.

Robert Austin

CHESTER - Mr. Robert Green Austin, 72, of 577 Pinckney St. died Monday, May 3, 1999, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Orr's Baptist Church, with the Rev. Curtis Marshall officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mr. Austin was a son of the late Sam Austin and Elizabeth Coleman Austin. He retired from Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co.

Surviving are his wife, Rosie Lee Weaver Austin; two sons, Clarence E. Hicklin and Robert G. Austin Jr., both of Chester; two daughters, Barbara A. McKeown of Lockhart and Linda A. Faulkner of Carlisle; four brothers, Sam Austin Jr., Jesse Austin, Wallace Austin and Amzi Austin, all of Chester; his sister, Marie Hayes of Chester; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Wright's Home for Funerals is in charge.

Kathleen Berry

CLOVER - Ms. Kathleen "Ms. Kat" Berry, 77, of 107 Carroway Lane died Friday, April 30, 1999, at Beverly Health Care in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Green Pond United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Charles L. White Jr. officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Ms. Berry was a daughter of the late Lee Berry. She was retired from Air Towne Mills in Gastonia, N.C.

Surviving are two sons, James Burris of the home and Thomas Berry of Clover; three daughters, Dorothy Burris of the home, Kathryn Berry of Gastonia, N.C., and Magdalene Berry Daniels of Groton, Conn.; her mother, Cola Moss Glenn of Rock Hill; her brother, Charles H. Glenn of Gastonia; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3 p.m. today at the church and at other times at the home.

Generation Funeral Home is in charge.

Cheryl Culbertson

COTTONWOOD, ARIZ. - Mrs. Cheryl Shipman Culbertson, 56, of Cottonwood died Sunday, May 2, 1999.

The funeral will be Wednesday in Cottonwood.

Mrs. Culbertson was a daughter of the late John Shipman and Enafae Shipman.

Surviving are her daughter, Jenny Rhodes of Arizona; her brother, John Shipman of Lancaster; two sisters, Dona Gore of Florida and Susan Parr of Washington; and two grandchildren.

The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Shipman, 775 West Brooklyn Ave., Lancaster.

Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
