James Galloway

ROCK HILL - Mr. James D. Galloway, 91, of 1330 India Hook Road died Wednesday, April 28, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 11:30 a.m. today at Forest Hills Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. W. Timothy McClendon and the Rev. Linda B. Dunn officiating.

A native of Bishopville, Mr. Galloway was a son of the late James Dalton Galloway and Kathryn Jane Arail McCaskill Galloway. He was the widower of Marian Elizabeth Reames Galloway.

Mr. Galloway was a retired merchant and member of St. John's United Methodist Church and its men's Bible class. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and served on the boards of the YMCA, the Salvation Army and the Rock Hill Area Chamber of Commerce.

Surviving are his son, James D. Galloway Jr. of Rock Hill; his daughter, Mary Jane Galloway Quattlebaum of Greenville; his sister, Sara Ackerman of Columbia; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church building fund, P.O. Box 149, Rock Hill, SC 29731.

Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.

Edward Garrison

ROCK HILL - Mr. Edward Wayne Garrison, 34, of 4540 Strait Road died Thursday, April 29, 1999.

A graveside service will be 4 p.m. Monday at Grandview Memorial Park, with the Rev. Dr. John W. Cabe officiating.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Garrison was a member of Riverside Baptist Church and was a maintenance worker at the Comfort Inn in Fort Mill. He was a former Boy Scout.

Surviving are his parents, Carl S. and Cynthia "Louise" Stewart Garrison; his brother, Bruce H. Garrison of Rock Hill; two sisters, Patricia "Pat" Kay G. Willett of Brandon, Fla., and Gloria "Donna" G. Yarbrough of Rock Hill; and his paternal grandmother, Earline Stewart of York.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Glenn Giles Sr.

SHARON - The Rev. Glenn Herndon Giles Sr., 97, of the Thompson Quarter Community died Thursday, April 29, 1999, at the home of his daughter in Brooklyn, N.Y.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Mount Hopewell Baptist Church in Sharon, with the Rev. Raymond T. Davis officiating and the Rev. Robert Burkins assisting. The Rev. F.R. Giles will give the eulogy. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Chester County, the Rev. Giles was a son of the late Frank Giles and Louise Neal Giles. He was the widower of Nettie Jeter Giles. He was a member of Mount Hopewell Baptist Church and former member of Cross Road Baptist Church. He attended Friendship Junior College in Rock Hill and was a former trustee at Friendship. He was the pastor at churches in South Carolina. He last served at Mount Zion Baptist Church in McConnells. He was a teacher in Chester and Union counties. He was a retired farmer.

Surviving are five sons, Lester Giles and Glenn Giles Jr., both of Sharon, Vernon Giles of Alabama, Fred Giles of Pittsburgh, Pa., and the Rev. F.R. Giles of Taylors; 10 daughters, Daisy Burkins of McConnells, Sally Inman, Lillie Giles and Mattie Ferrell, all of Brooklyn, Anita Sawyer of Virginia Beach, Va., Carolyn Louise Burrell and Irene Durham, both of Winston-Salem, N.C., Evelyn Hudnall of Heathville, Va., Minnie Long of Cambria Heights, N.Y., and Peggy Giles of Ohio; 38 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of Lester and Maggie Giles, 4117 Giles Road, Sharon.

The body will be taken to the church at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester, is in charge.

Loueelza Hailey

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Loueelza Gregory Hailey, 73, of 323-D N. Jones Ave. died Thursday, April 29, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bill Shytle officiating, Burial will be 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Jefferson.

A native of Jefferson, Mrs. Hailey was a daughter of the late John Gregory and Lula Melton Gregory. She was a homemaker and member of the First Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving are her son, Billy Ray Hailey of Rock Hill; her brother, Thomas Gregory of Rock Hill; two sisters, Wyonnie Gregory and Olivia Sullivan, both of Rock Hill; and her grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her son, Billy Ray Hailey, 1854 Forest Lake Drive, Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to Rock Hill Senior Citizens Center, 150 Johnston St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Gilbert Jackson Jr.

ROCK HILL - Gilbert Jackson Jr., 14, of 1029 Albert St. died Thursday, April 29, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Union Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ronnie Baxter officiating and the Revs. Charles Crockett and John Simpson assisting. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.

He was a native of York County. He was an eighth-grader student at Sullivan Middle School. He was a member of Union Baptist Church, where he was a member of the youth choir and the Royal Ambassadors of Union. He played football for the Sunset Park Trojans.

Surviving are his parents, Gilbert and Stacy W. Jackson of the home; his brother, Trenton J. Jackson of the home; his sister, Kameta V. Jackson of the home; and his paternal grandfather, Phillip Jackson Sr. of Rock Hill.

The body may be viewed from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight at Robinson Funeral Home.

The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Ora Massey

CHESTER - Mrs. Ora Gist Massey, 97, of 740 Celsey St. died Friday, April 30, 1999, at Chester County Nursing Center.

Arrangements will be announced by King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester.

Sylvia McCrinmon

CLARKTON, N.C. - Mrs. Sylvia White Kirkpatrick McCrinmon, formerly of Chester, died Monday, April 26, 1999, in Clarkton.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Gethsemane Baptist Church in Chester, with the Rev. Charles Pratt officiating. Burial will be at the Gethsemane church cemetery.

A native of Chester, Mrs. McCrinmon was a daughter of the late Lorenda White and John White. She attended Chester County public schools and joined Gethsemane Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, James McCrinmon; two sons, William Kirkpatrick and Phillip Green, both of Chester; four daughters, Charlene Sabree, Gertrude Worthy and Rhonda Neal, all of Chester, and Sandra Harmon of Chester, Pa.; and her brother, Thaddus White of Chester, Pa.

The body may be viewed from from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at Christopher King's Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road.

The body will be placed in the church at 3 p.m. Saturday.

The family will be at the home of Emma White, 103 Center St. Apt. 44, Chester.

Billy Miller

GREAT FALLS, Mont. - Mr. Billy Bruce Miller, 60, of 3000 Lower River Road died Wednesday, April 28, 1999, at a local hospital.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Great Falls Civic Center.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Miller was a self-employed attorney and justice of the peace in Cascade County. He was a former clerk with the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco and a mechanical engineer in Berkeley, Calif. He was a graduate of Laney College, Oakland, Calif.; University of California at Berkeley; and the Lincoln University School of Law, San Francisco, where he earned his law degree. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1967.

Surviving are his wife, Joan E. Cook; his daughter, Elaine Brown of Oakland; his brother, Earl Lee Miller of Brunswick, Ga.; and his sister, Margie Miller of New York.

O'Connor Funeral Home, 2425 8th Ave. N., Great Falls, MT 59401 is in charge.
