Hazel Brown

FORT MILL - Mrs. Hazel Pauline Lawson Brown, 94, of Fort Mill died Monday, April 26, 1999, at White Oak Manor in Rock Hill.

Arrangements will be announced by Wolfe Funeral Home.

A native of Mayfield, Ky., Mrs. Brown was a daughter of the late Joseph Nathin Lawson and Ima Sue Drinkard Lawson. She was the widow of John S. Brown. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.

Larry Kelly Sr.

KERSHAW - Mr. Larry Lee Kelly Sr., 49, of 731 Boonetown Road died Sunday, April 25, 1999, at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ed Stokes officiating. Burial will be at Refuge Baptist Church cemetery.

A native of Camden, Mr. Kelly was a son of the late George Haney "Cap" Kelly and Zetta Shehorne Kelly. He was employed by Springs Industries and a member of Refuge Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Sarah Bryson Kelly; his son, Larry Lee Kelly Jr. of Kershaw; two daughters, Larriette Kelly and Destiney Kelly, both of Kershaw; three brothers, William Kelly, J.B. Kelly and Carroll Haney Kelly, all of Kershaw; his sister, Fleeter Mae Kelly of Camden; and four grandchildren.

Jonathan Kiser Jr.

CHARLESTON - Jonathan Noel "Jack" Kiser Jr., the infant son of Jonathan Kiser Sr. and Leslie Greer Kiser of Mount Pleasant, died Friday, April 23, 1999, at the Medical University of South Carolina.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at First (Scots) Presbyterian Church in Charleston, with Pastor Donald Day officiating. Burial will be at Magnolia Cemetery in Charleston.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his paternal grandparents, Delano L. Kiser Sr. and Nedra Kiser of Rock Hill; his maternal grandparents, Ralph W. Greer Jr. and Reginia Greer of Union; his uncle, Del Kiser Jr. of Rock Hill; and two aunts, Toni Greer of Union and Amy Kiser of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends at the Molly Weir Fellowship Hall, First (Scots) Presbyterian Church, from noon to 2 p.m. today.

Memorials may be made to MUSC Children's Fund, 171 Ashley Ave., Charleston, SC 29425.

Diane Price

SPARTANBURG - Mrs. Diane Elizabeth Tobias Price, 49, of Spartanburg died Sunday, April 25, 1999, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Woodland United Methodist Church in Rock Hill, with the Revs. Thomas Pietilla and Cooper Stonestreet officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

Mrs. Price was a member of Woodland United Methodist Church until she married and moved to Charlotte. She joined Central Steele Creek Presbyterian Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and deaconess for many years. She was a former owner and dance instructor at Fred Astaire Studio in Asheville, N.C. She was office manager at Chestnut Antique Galleries in Spartanburg. She was a daughter of the late Arthur McNeal Tobias Sr.

Surviving are her son, John Michael Price of Charlotte; her mother and stepfather, Mary and Tom Edwards of Rock Hill; her sister, Carol Tobias Privette of Nashville, N.C.; two brothers, Arthur McNeal Tobias Jr. of Charlotte and Michael Jeffrey Tobias of Gastonia; her stepsister, Tommie Jones of Redland, Calif.; her niece and four nephews.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Edwards, 905 Ragin Lane, Rock Hill.

Ruth Sadler

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Ruth Hoy Sadler, 95, of 1330 India Hook Road died Sunday, April 25, 1999, at Westminster Towers.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church, with the Rev. E. Ray Mohrmann officiating, followed by a lunch at the church. Afterward, the cremains will be placed in the Grace Lutheran Church Cremains Garden.

A native of Steelton, Pa., Mrs. Sadler was a daughter of the late William C. Hoy and Jenny Henninger Hoy. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Prior to moving to Rock Hill, she was a member of Good Sheperd Lutheran Church in Seminole, Fla., for 10 years and Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Petersburg, Fla., for 20 years and Martha Circle.

Mrs. Sadler was a member of AARP, the Shepherd's Center in Rock Hill, the Retired Teachers of Pennsylvania and the National Retired Teachers of America. She earned her bachelor's degree from Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pa., and her master's degree from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa. She taught school in Pennsylvania for 35 years.

While teaching in Watsontown, Pa., she was a Tri-Hi-Y leader, a YWCA/YMCA program for youth. When she taught in Milton, Pa., she was involved with the Senior Girl Scouts and was president of the Business and Professional Women's Club. She was a member of the Retired Teachers of Milton Area Schools and the Retired Teachers of North Thumberland County. While in St. Petersburg, Fla., she was secretary for All State Retired Teachers, serving several terms.

Surviving are her niece, Nancy E. Carter of Charlotte; her nephew, the Rev. Neal W. Edwards of Griffin, Ga.; three great nieces; her great-nephew; two great-great-nephews; and her stepdaughter, Harriett Sadler Arthur of St. Petersburg, Fla.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at the community room at Westminster Towers. Refreshments will be served.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice or to Grace Lutheran Church Cremains Garden or Music Committee, 426 W. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Minnie Bennett

GREAT FALLS - Mrs. Minnie Carpenter Bennett, 90, formerly of Oak Street, died Tuesday, April 27, 1999, at Lexington Medical Center in Lexington.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Great Falls Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Revs. Legrande Taylor and Lawrence Leonhardt officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.

A native of Lincoln County, N.C., Mrs. Bennett was a daughter of the late Charles Plato Carpenter and Mattie Bright Carpenter. She was the widow of James Hunter Bennett. Mrs. Bennett was retired from J.P. Stevens Co. and was a member of Great Falls Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Surviving are her daughter, Joyce B. Neal of Columbia; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home.

James Clark Jr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. James Marshall Clark Jr., 44, of 1113 Burton St., formerly of Little Hocking, Ohio, died Tuesday, April 27, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Friday at Rogers Memorial ARP Church, with the Rev. Steve Reynolds officiating. Burial will be at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens.

A native of Marietta, Ohio, Mr. Clark was a son of Garnet Wine Clark of Belpre, Ohio, and the late James Marshall Clark Sr. He was a retired carpenter, a Marine veteran of the Vietnam War, and a member of the Frank Roach American Legion Post 34 and the Disabled Veterans Chapter 46. He attended Marietta Bible College in Marietta, Ohio. He was a member of Rogers Memorial ARP Church, where he taught Sunday school.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Gena Flowers Clark; his son, Joshua Clark of the home; his stepson, Zachary Cash of Cleveland, Ga.; two daughters, Trisha Waller of Clarksburg, W.Va., and Amanda Fairchild of Rock Hill; his stepdaughter, Jessica Cash of the home; two brothers, Roy Clark of Columbus, Ohio, and David Clark of Belpre, Ohio; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at home.

Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans of York County, Chapter 46, c/o Bill Stewart, 1205 Roundtree Circle, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

John Hinson

CHESTER - Mr. John Jackson Hinson, 70, of 121 Wilson St. died Wednesday, April 28, 1999, at Chester County Hospital.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Chester Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Clay Waldrip officiating.

A native of Kershaw, Mr. Hinson was a son of Jack Hinson and Julia Robinson Hinson. He was a retired supervisor at Springs Industries, was a member of First Baptist Church and was a former member of Parkway Baptist Church, where he was a deacon. He attended Flat Creek High School.

Surviving are his wife, Vera C. "Dot" Hinson; his son, Dale Hinson of Chester; two daughters, Gail Reeves of Chester and Teresa Ruark of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Donald "Mac" Hinson of Lancaster and Harry Hinson of Kershaw; his sister, Betty Bell of Kershaw; 10 grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 518, Chester, SC 29706.

The family will receive friends at home.
