Loueelza Hailey

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Loueelza Gregory Hailey, 73, of 323D North Jones Ave. died Thursday, April 29, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Greene Funeral Home.

Gilbert Jackson Jr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Gilbert Jackson Jr., 14, of 1029 Albert St. died Thursday, April 29, 1999, at home.

Arrangements will be announced by Robinson Funeral Home.

Marceline Kerr

COLUMBIA - Mrs. Marceline Dease Kerr, 68, of Columbia died Thursday, April 29, 1999.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Ascension Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Taylor Cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Kerr was a daughter of the late Gilmore Dease and Avie Swink Dease. She was the widow of George Lee "Joe" Kerr. She was an accountant for 43 years, national director of National Society of Accountants for five years and a former member of the board of directors for the South Carolina Association of Public Accountants. She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her son, Joe Kerr of Irmo; her daughter, Katherine Kerr of Columbia; four sisters, Leatrice Addy of West Columbia, and Phyllis Minton, Voncile Hutto and Judy Covington, all of Rock Hill; three grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 tonight at Talbert-Shives Funeral Home.

Joan Phillips

FORT MILL - Mrs. Joan "Jo Ann" Howey Phillips, 64, died Thursday, April 29, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at St. John's United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Robert Monson officiating and the Revs. Jerry Phillips and Joe Tysinger assisting. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.

A Lancaster County native, Mrs. Phillips was the daughter of the late George E. Howey Sr. and Jo Berkley Howey. She was a homemaker and former employee of A&P Food Stores. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. She was an avid bowler and attended Indian Land schools.

Surviving are her husband, Thomas Lee Phillips; her brother, James R. Howey of Austin, Texas; her sister, Joyce H. Griffin of Fort Mill; and five nieces and seven nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at St. John's United Methodist Church and at other times at the home of Jimmy and Pat Massey, 1267 Spratt St., Fort Mill.

Memorials may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church building fund, 130 Tom Hall St., Fort Mill, SC 29715 or to the American Cancer Society, Rock Hill Chapter, 339 E. Main St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Fort Mill Funeral Home is in charge.

Peggy Rippy

ROCK HILL - Ms. Peggy Alexander Hewett Rippy, 61, of 424 Maywood Drive died Wednesday, April 28, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. today at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dexter Lambert officiating. Burial will be private.

A native of Monroe, N.C., Ms. Rippy was a daughter of Sadie McManus Alexander of Rock Hill and the late Page Alexander. Ms. Rippy was a retiree of Frito Lay Inc. in Charlotte and worked with A&P Food Stores in Rock Hill for 23 years. She was a member of Grace Ministries Church.

Surviving in addition to her mother are her former husband, Haynes R. Hewett of Calabash, N.C.; her son, Gregory Eston Hewett of Rock Hill; her daughter, Teresa Hewett Rice of Rock Hill; her brother, Bill Alexander of Rock Hill; her sister, Anne Winchester of Lancaster; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. today at Greene Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Grace Ministries building fund, 1511 Mount Holly Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Vermelle Eargle

LANCASTER - Mrs. Vermelle Alice Arnold Eargle, 74, of 2095 J.B. Denton Road died Friday, April 23, 1999.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Hartley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Bobby Bailey officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Lexington County, Mrs. Eargle was a daughter of the late Jake Arnold and Colie Steele Arnold. She was the widow of John Milton Eargle Sr. She was retired from Springs Industries Frances Plant cloth room department. She was a member of White Springs Baptist Church.

Surviving are three sons, Johnny Eargle of Sumter, John Milton Eargle Jr. and Marvin Eargle, both of Lancaster; her brother, Bob Arnold of Lexington; her sister, Margaret Crawford of New Mexico; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to White Springs Baptist Church building fund, 1249 Grace Ave., Lancaster, SC 29720.

Patricia Gibson

ROCK HILL - Ms. Patricia Faires Gibson, 60, 756 Rabun Lane died Friday, April 23, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The graveside service will be 3 p.m. today at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Rock Hill, Ms. Gibson was a daughter of the late Edward Faires and Thelma Workman Faires. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening.

Surviving are two daughters, Sherry L. Kent of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Chris Millwood of Rock Hill; her brother, Ronald Faires of York; her sister, Judy Gray of Rock Hill; and her granddaughter.

The family will receive friends at home.

Greene Funeral Home is in charge.

Louis Gill

YORK - Mr. Louis Daniel "Dan" Gill, 74, of 117 Galilean Road died Friday, April 23, 1999, at Ebenezer Nursing Home in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at Fishing Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. Terry Wallace Jr. officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Gill was a member of Fishing Creek Baptist Church and an U.S. Navy veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Pearline F. Gill of the home; three sons, Robert Gill of Concord, N.C., James Gill of York and Arthur Lee Gill of Honolulu; five daughters, Lillie Burris, Nancy Gill, Joann Gill and Linda Gill, all of York, and Shirley Gill of the home; 24 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home.

The body may be viewed from 5 to 7 tonight at Wright Funeral Home and will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Monday.

Annie Patterson

GREAT FALLS - Mrs. Annie "Lil" Cloud Patterson, 49, of 3075 Scott Road in the Bakertown community died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at United Pentecostal Church in Rock Hill, with Pastor D.L. Erickson officiating and Brothers Mark Johnson and Jim Simons assisting. Burial will be at Union Ezell AME Zion Church cemetery in Fort Lawn.

A native of Chester County, Mrs. Patterson was a daughter of the late Jimmie Cloud and Ruby Boulware Cloud. She was a member of United Pentecostal Church, where she was a choir member. She was a former member of Union Ezell AME Zion Church and Pine Grove Baptist Church in Great Falls. She was a former textile worker and attended Chester County schools.

Surviving are her husband, Willie Patterson Sr.; her daughter, Elanza Michelle Patterson Gratic of York; four brothers, Tommy Lee Jordan of Charlotte, Donald Cloud and Rodney Cloud, both of Fort Lawn, and Earl Cloud of Great Falls; and seven sisters, Frances Crawford, Gloria Williams, Betty Williams and Angie Foster, all of Fort Lawn, Tammy Lineberger of Charlotte, and Janett Boulware and Margaret Graham, both of Great Falls.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester.

The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Tuesday.

The body may be viewed from noon to 9 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at King's Funeral Home.
