Lessie Love

LANCASTER - Mrs. Lessie Stacks Love, 80, a resident of Helms Gordon Nursing Center in Fort Lawn, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at the nursing center.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Friday at Hartley Funeral Home Chapel, with Harold Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Union County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Mr. Dexter Stacks and Mrs. Bessie Gettis Stacks. She was the widow of Charles Ray Love Sr. She was retired from Johnson Manufacturing Company and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Surviving are her son, Bobby Ray Love; two brothers, Johnny Stacks of Kershaw and Paul Stacks of Lancaster; three sisters, J.T. Stacks Sowell, Judy King and Frances Steele, all of Lancaster, three grandsons and two great-grandsons.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hartley Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, Building Fund, PO Box 1116, Lancaster, SC 29720.

The family will be at the home of her son, Bobby Ray Love, 2041 Strafford Drive in Arrowood.

Robert Mitchell

CHARLOTTE - Mr. Robert Cavin Mitchell, 54, of 2705 Remington St., formerly of Rock Hill, died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Pineville AME Zion Church in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Eugene Goodwin officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of York County, Mr. Mitchell was the son of the late Robert Mitchell and Henrietta Page Mitchell. He was a member of Pineville AME Zion Church, attended York County public schools and was a former employee of the city of Charlotte parks and recreation department.

Surviving are two sons, Calvin F. Mitchell of San Bernardino, Calif., and Robert C. Mitchell of Long Beach, Calif.; two daughters, Santarisha Mitchell of Los Angeles and Denise Mitchell of Orange County, Calif., who are the children of Dorothy Mitchell of Long Beach, Calif.; his wife, Ola Mae Mitchell; four brothers, Albert Mitchell and Glenn Mitchell, both of Rock Hill, Harris Mitchell of Gastonia, N.C., and James Mitchell of York; two sisters, Annie Perry and Barbara Matthews, both of York; and eight grandchildren.

King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester, is in charge of local announcements. King's Funeral Home in Charlotte is in charge of arrangements.

Annie Patterson

GREAT FALLS - Mrs. Annie Cloud Patterson, 49, of 3075 Scott Road in the Bakertown community died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by King's Funeral Home of Great Falls.

Lee Reid Jr.

CHESTER - Mr. Lee Reid Jr., 50, of 125 Harris St. died Tuesday, April 20, 1999, at Chester County Hospital.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Chester Memorial Gardens, with Dr. Dwight Pearson officiating.

A native of Chester, Mr. Reid was the son of Esther Leone Reid Jones and the late Walter Lee Reid Sr. He worked for MegaStar Apparel and was a member of Purity Presbyterian Church and graduated from Chester High School.

Surviving are his wife, Cathy Y. Reid; four daughters, Kelley R. Going of Chester, Nikki Reid of Chester, Susan Riddle of Alpena, Mich., and Sandra Hinson of Edgemoor; his mother, Esther L. Jones of Chester; a brother, Ronnie Reid of Chester, three sisters, Patricia R. Clack of Chester, Dorothy R. Williams of Great Falls and Mildred Henderson of Chester and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Chester A.R.P. Church, PO Box 174, Chester, SC 29706.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the home at 125 Harris St.

Ola Rivers

CHESTERFIELD - Mrs. Ola Gulledge Rivers, 95, died Tuesday, April 20, 1999.

The funeral will be 5 p.m. today at Hopewell Baptist Church. Burial will be at Hurst Cemetery.

A native of Chesterfield, Mrs. Rivers was a daughter of the late James W. Gulledge and Mary Charlotte Green Gulledge. She was the widow of Jesse S. Rivers. She was a homemaker and member of Hopewell Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Jerry Rivers of Hartsville and James Cleveland Rivers of Rock Hill; two daughters, Sybil Gainey and Daisy Bryte Sellers, both of Chesterfield; her brother, Paul Gulledge of Chesterfield; her sister, Elizabeth Davidson of Taylors; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hopewell Baptist Church, Route 2, Box 150, Chesterfield, SC 29079.

Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home is in charge.

William Ruppe

YORK - Mr. William Mace Ruppe, 79, of 3692 Woodstream Road died Tuesday, April 20, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Greene Funeral Service's Southside Chapel in Gastonia, with the Rev. Jerry Bryant officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

A native of Marion County, Mr. Ruppe was the son of Joseph S. Ruppe and Daisy Tanner Ruppe. He was a retired sales representative for MTS Industries. A World War II U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Ruppe received the bronze star award. He was a member of Union Baptist Church in Filbert, VFW Post 23 in Gastonia and the Last Man's Club. Military rites at the funeral will be given by the World War II Last Man's Club.

Surviving are his wife, Sylvia V. Ruppe of the home; his son, James Arnold Ruppe of Gastonia, N.C.; his daughter, Donna Styles of Clover; his brother, John Morgan Ruppe of Clover; his sister, Ila Whitesides of Clover and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Greene Funeral Service from 7 to 9 p.m. today.

Elizabeth Smith

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Elizabeth A. "Beth" Smith, 53, of Rock Hill died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held 6:30 p.m. Friday at Park Baptist Church, with the Rev. Eddie Ramsey officiating,

Born in Anderson, Mrs. Smith was of the Baptist faith and was active in the Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts in Rock Hill and the P.T.A. at Northside Elementary School.

Mrs. Smith was the widow of Harold B. Smith Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Sabrina Smith Moses of Fort Mill; her son, Harold Barton Smith of Rock Hill; her sister Doris A. Taylor of Anderson and four granddaughters.

The family will receive friends at 6 p.m. Friday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Medical University of S.C., 171 Ashley Ave., Charleston, SC 29425 or to the Park Baptist Church Building Fund, 717 E. Main St., Rock Hill, 29730.

Lovett Williams

FORT LAWN - Mr. Lovett Clyde "Sonny" Williams, 53, of 5651 Diamond Lane died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester.

Harold Abercrombie

SPARTANBURG - Mr. Harold Dupre Abercrombie, 62, of 5112 Borman Drive died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Bethel United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Larry F. Hayes, Daniel A. Morrison and Olyn D. Shytle officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

A native of Spartanburg, Mr. Abercrombie was the son of the late Jasper Dupre Abercrombie and Nadie Hix Abercrombie. He was retired from the Federal Aviation Administration, where he was a supervisor for 37 years. He was formerly with Prudential-Carolina Real Estate Co. He currently was a receiving supervisor with Proffitt's Department Store. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, where he was a former trustee. He was an airplane pilot with a commercial license. He was an Air Force veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Iris G. Abercrombie; his son, Stephen Harold Abercrombie of Spartanburg; two brothers, David Melvin Abercrombie and William Bartlet "Bart" Abercrombie, both of Spartanburg; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel and at other times at home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 245 S. Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29306.
