Willie Barber

PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Mr. Willie "Bus" Barber of 4 Langly Circle, formerly of Rock Hill, died Wednesday, April 14, 1999 at a local hospital.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Church No. 1 in Portsmouth, Va.

Surviving are his son, Chucky Barber of Portsmouth; his daughter, Janice Barber of Portsmouth; his brother, Wardell Hall of New York; four sisters, Frances Harp and Naomi Johnson, both of New York, Louise McMullen of Rock Hill and Ruth England of Bronx, N.Y.

Corprew Funeral Home, 1822 Portsmouth Blvd., Portsmouth, Va., is in charge.

Robinson Funeral Home in Rock Hill is in charge of local arrangements.

Ronald Danley

ROCK HILL - Mr. Ronald Raymond Danley, 61, of Grier Lesslie Road, died Friday, April 16, 1999, at home.

Arrangements will be announced by Bass Funeral Home.

Brenda Edwards

RIVERDALE, Md. - Ms. Brenda Edwards of Riverdale died Thursday, April 15, 1999.

Arrangements will be announced by Robinson Funeral Home.

William Hemphill Jr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. William "Hemp" Hemphill Jr. of 3885 Marshall Road died Thursday, April 15, 1999.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Robinson Funeral Home, with the Rev. M.N. Baxter officiating. Burial will be at Mount Calvary AME Zion Church cemetery.

Mr. Hemphill was a native of Chester County. He was a member of Mount Calvary AME Zion Church.

Surviving are six sons, George Hemphill, James Hemphill, Charles Hemphill, Harold Hemphill, Marion Hemphill and Walter Hemphill, all of Rock Hill; his daughter, Mary Patterson of Rock Hill; 18 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Margaret Howell

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Margaret Carter Howell of 2985 Pinetuck Lane died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Grandview Memorial Park, with the Rev. Sollie Hicks officiating.

A native of York County, Mrs. Howell was the daughter of the late Clarence Aubrey Carter and Fannie Mae Pope Carter. She was the widow of Dantzler L. Myers and Conway Howell. A homemaker, she was a member of First Baptist Church for more than 50 years.

Surviving are two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends after the service.

Judy Johnson

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Julia Bell "Judy Me-maw" Ligon Johnson, 76, of 2450 Oakwood Circle died Friday, April 16, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Cauthen Funeral Home, Rock Hill chapel, with the Rev. Dexter Lambert officiating. Burial will be at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens.

A native of Rock Hill, she was the daughter of the late Robert McCreight and Lillie Jane Jackson Ligon. She retired from J.P. Stevens Co. and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are her husband, Farris I. Johnson; her son, Mike Johnson of Rock Hill; three daughters, Arlene Cauthen, Barbara Snipes and Linda Fox, all of Rock Hill; her brother, Arthur Lewis Ligon of Rock Hill; two sisters, Emma Ligon Williford and Alice Ligon Lee, both of Rock Hill; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of Boyce and Arlene Cauthen, 1189 Neely's Store Road.

CLOVER - Tanner James Johnson, infant son of James and Laura Johnson of Clover, died Tuesday, April 13, 1999,

A Graveside service was held Friday at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte.

Hankins &Whittington, Wilson Chapel, was in charge.

Therese Kusk

CHESTERFIELD, Mich. - Mrs. Therese Lucht Kusk, 87, formerly of Rock Hill, died Friday, April 16, 1999.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at the chapel of Bass Funeral Home, with Deacon Jim Hyland officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery.

A native of Germany, Mrs. Kusk was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church. She was the widow of Evald Kusk.

Surviving are two sons, Heinz W. Boden of Leesburg, Fla., and Manfred A. Boden of St. Clair, Mich.; her daughter, Rese Richter of Palm Coast, Fla.; her sister, Johanna Hammes of Germany; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bass Funeral Home.

Docie McCollum

CHESTER - Mrs. Docie Clark McCollum, 83, formerly of Robbins Circle, died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Barron Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Bishop officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Baptist Church cemetery.

A native of Chester, Mrs. McCollum was the daughter of the late Dan Clark and Lula Gregory Clark. She was a homemaker and attended Second Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Bettie Tucker and Patsy Mosley, both of Fort Lawn; six sisters, Inez Dallas, Josie Gaston, Ruth Cranford and Florence Estes, all of Chester, Margaret Jorgenson of Mount Dora, Fla., and Dean Longo of Harbor, Ore., three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church cemetery fund, 760 Calvary Church Road, Chester, SC 29706.
