Troy Tilley

BISHOPVILLE - Mr. Troy Edward Tilley, 36, of Bishopville, formerly of Rock Hill, died Sunday, April 18, 1999, at Toumey Hospital in Sumter.

The funeral will be 7 p.m. today at Greene Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Bill Shytle officiating. The burial will be private.

Surviving are two brothers, Steve Tilley of Coachville, Pa., and Herman E. Tilley of West Chester, Pa.; and three sisters, Rachel Schwoerer of Coachville, Dianne Greenier of Lakeland, Fla., and Debra Burkey of Winnsboro.

The family will receive friends following the service.

Lois Weller

SHARON - Mrs. Lois Hope White Weller, 71, of Sharon died Saturday, April 17, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Woodlawn Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. A.B. Plexico officiating and the Revs. James McGill and Gerald Ramsey assisting. Burial will be at Woodlawn Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

A Sharon native, Mrs. Weller was an inn keeper. She was a member of Ocean Grove Women's Club in Ocean Grove, N.J., and of Thrift United Methodist Church in Charlotte.

Surviving are four brothers, Bob White, Lyndel White and Paul White, all of Sharon, and Joe White of Rock Hill; and her sister, Isabel White Moore of Charlotte.

The family will receive friends at the Bratton Funeral Home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Woodlawn Presbyterian Church, 3852 Woodlawn St., Sharon, SC 29742, and to Thrift United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 205, Paul Creek, NC 28130.

Bratton Funeral Home is in charge.

Alexander Barnette

ROCK HILL - Mr. Alexander Randal "Legs" Barnette of 519 Washington St. died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be noon Saturday at New Mount Olivet AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Sherman B. McBeth Sr. officiating and the Rev. Dr. Z.B. Wells assisting. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Barnette attended Emmett Scott High School and graduated from Clinton Junior College. He was an Army medical corpsman serving with the 93rd Division in World War II. He played baseball with the Army Team, Black Sox of New York, and Elite Giants in Winston-Salem, N.C. He was an insurance agent for the North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Co. He retired from Pilgrim Life Insurance Co. as a field agent and debit manager. For more than 50 years, he was a member of New Mount Olivet AME Zion, where he served on the steward board and as secretary. He was the Sunday school musician, lay council member, honorary life member of the Missionary Society and a member of the Clinton College Alumni Club.

Surviving are two daughters, Jacqueline B. Gladney of Columbia and Marjorie Glymph of Blythewood; his son, the Rev. Rufus R. Barnette of Charlotte; and eight grandchildren.

The body will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Robinson Funeral Home is in charge.

Willie Barnette

ROCK HILL - Mr. Willie L. Barnette, 71, of 1445 Neely Creek Road died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Liberty Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ray Thompson officiating with the Revs. Osbey Roddey, M.N. Baxter and Vincent Riley assisting. The eulogist will be the Rev. A.L. Mickles. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Barnette was a native of Chester County. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was a carpenter until he retired in 1992.

Surviving are his wife, Maggie Jane Barnette; four daughters, Dorothy B. Kiser, Linda B. Crockett, Deborah B. Davis and Kathy E. Barnette, all of Rock Hill; four sons, James C. Barnette, Willie E. Barnette, Charles A. Barnette and Ronald B. Barnette, all of Rock Hill; his sister, Mary E. Barnette of Rock Hill; two brothers, Jesse Barnette of Columbia and Theodore Barnette of Rock Hill; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The body may be viewed from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Robinson Funeral Home.

The body will be placed in the church at noon Friday.

Ronald Beck Sr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Ronald Lee Beck Sr., 52, of the Lesslie area died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Eastside Baptist Church, with the Revs. Jimmy Holley, Jerry Devinney and Bully Faulkenberry officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Beck was the son of the Evelyn Simmers Beck and the late Eugene Beck Sr. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church and retired from Duke Power Co., where he worked as an installer. He served in the National Guard.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Mary Nies Beck; two sons, Ronald L. Beck Jr. and John H. Beck, both of Rock Hill; his brother, Duane Beck of Rock Hill; two sisters, Sandra Cordbridge of American Fall, Idaho, and Tammy R. Beck of Rock Hill; and his granddaughter.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home.

Thelma Brantley

CHESTER - Mrs. Thelma "Tiney" Wilson Brantley, 83, of 734 Parkway, died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at the Chester County Nursing Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Barron Funeral chapel, with the Rev. Dennis Reid officiating. Internment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

Mrs. Brantley, a homemaker, was a native of Greer. She was the daughter of the late William Stephenson and Mazie Adline Wardell Wilson. She attended Chester schools and was a member of the Saluda Church of God.

Surviving are her husband, Clarence Robert Brantley; two sons, Douglas Brantley of Chester and Bob Brantley of Fort Mill; two sisters, Eunice Martin of Chester and Winefred Reid of Florida; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Her daughter, Billie B. Dennis, died Wednesday, April 14, 1999.

The family will receive friends at Barron Funeral Home from 6 to 8 tonight and other times at 609 Still St., Chester.

Kenneth Brady

YORK - Mr. Kenneth Morris Brady, 66, of 3140 Balkan Drive died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Friday at Bratton Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ted "Pete" Cole III officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

A native of Newport, Tenn., Mr. Brady was the son of the late Paul Brady and Hazel Large Brady. He was a mechanic and worked for Motts Oil and Equipment Co. in Charlotte. He was a member of Western York County Moose Lodge. He was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict and member of Bethel Freewill Baptist Church in Gastonia, N.C.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Mae McGaha Brady; his son, Ronnie Brady of York; three daughters, Teresa B. Burris of Clover, Kathy B. Wagner of China Grove, N.C., and Shari Gilbert of Marion, Ark.; two brothers, Edward Brady of Newport, Tenn., and Huey Brady of Mebane, N.C.; three sisters, Betty Sue B. Linge of Kansas City, Mo., Wanda B. Halliard of Newport, Tenn., and Nellie B. Metcalf of Thomasville, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bratton Funeral Home, 1455 S.C. 321 North, York.

Memorials may be made to Bethel Freewill Baptist Church, 329 Telegraph Drive, Gastonia, NC 28054.

Billie Dennis

CHESTER - Mrs. Billie Brantley Dennis, 66, of 609 Still St. died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Barron Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dennis Reid officiating. Burial will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.

A native of Chester, Mrs. Dennis was retired from Schlegel Corp. She attended Saluda Street Church of God. She attended Chester County schools.

Surviving are her husband, William "Bill" Dennis; two sons, William "Rip" Dennis Jr. and Robert M. Dennis, both of Chester; three daughters, Karen Bailey and Paula Lucas, both of Chester, and Valerie Blair of Sharon; her father, Clarence Robert Brantley of Chester; two brothers, Douglas Brantley of Chester and Bob Brantley of Fort Mill; and eight grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.
