John Lockerby

FORT MILL - Mr. John Wesley Lockerby, 78, of 316 Swamp Fox Drive died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at Mercy Hospital South in Pineville, N.C.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Wolfe Funeral Home, with the Rev. Richard Hamm officiating. Burial will be private.

A native of Holyoke, Mass., Mr. Lockerby was a son of the late John Lockerby and Charlotte Lockerby. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Cross in Charlotte. He was retired from Eastco Tool Manufacturers in West Springfield, Mass. He was an U.S Army veteran of World War II. His hobbies included woodworking and stained glass.

Surviving are his wife, Jennie Novak Lockerby; three daughters, Maureen McIntyre of Fort Mill, Linda Lathrop of Suffield, Conn., and Sandra Nilsen of Centerville, Mass.; his sister, Esther Knapp of Agawam, Mass.; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Cathedral of the Cross Building Fund, P.O. Box 410987, Charlotte, NC 28241.

James Mabrey

CONNELLY SPRINGS, N.C. - Mr. James H. Mabrey, 73, of Knox Avenue died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at home.

A graveside service with military rites will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Mountain View Cemetery, with the Rev. Mel Campos officiating.

A native of Cleveland County, Mr. Mabrey was a son of the late T.L. Mabrey and Nellie Hamrick Mabrey. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Berlene Knox Mabrey; his son, James T. Mabrey of Rock Hill; his daughter, Tina Mabrey Barker of Connelly Springs; four brothers, John A. Mabrey and Olin R. Mabrey, both of Connelly Springs, Charles Virgil Mabrey of Sherrills Ford, N.C., and Bobby Mabrey of Charlotte; four sisters, Ruby Robinson and Doris Dellinger of Valdese, N.C., Evelyn Hollifield of Lenoir, N.C., and Kay Blanton of Hickory, N.C.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Kirksey Family Funeral Care in Valdese, N.C., and at other times at the home.

Doris Miller

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Mrs. Doris Ann Barnes Miller, 61, formerly of Rock Hill, died Monday, April 12, 1999, at Beverly Health Care Center in Glasgow, W.Va.

The graveside service will be 3 p.m. today at Laurelwood Cemetery in Rock Hill, with the Rev. John Jenkins officiating.

A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Miller was a daughter of the late Winder Barnes and Annie Mae Barnes. She was a homemaker.

Surviving are her husband, Lloyd Miller; her son, Hank Stokes of Gatlinburg, Tenn.; two daughters, Jennifer Carpenter of Gastonia, N.C., and Melody Stokes of Pensacola, Fla.; and nine grandchildren.

Bass Funeral Home is in charge.

Patsy Olerud

CLOVER - Mrs. Patsy Ann Banks Olerud, 58, 2230 Meadow Road died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Abiding Presence Lutheran Church in York, with the Rev. Herbert L. Wood Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Olerud was a member of Abiding Presence Lutheran Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed fishing.

Surviving are her husband, Donald Olerud; two sons, Jonathan Eric Olerud and Michael Banks Olerud, both of Clover; her daughter, Camelia Ann Eckardt of Clover; her mother Ruby Banks of York; her stepson, Donald Olerud Jr. of Raleigh, N.C.; five stepdaughters, Donna Johnson, Laurie Lovin and Pamela Moore, all of Hamlet, N.C., Jane Seaborne of Holland, Mich., and Sandra Olerud of Clover; two brothers, William Banks of Pittburg, Calif., and Tex Banks of Greenville; three sisters, Peggy Szmolka of San Rose Beach, Fla., Brenda Roham of Cary, N.C. and Patricia McKenny of Texas; and 17 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at York Funeral Home.

Lenora Sanford

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Lenora Lockmon Sanford, 90, of 1800 India Hook Road died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Woodhaven Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tom Patterson officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Sanford was the daughter of the late J.D. Lockmon and Sally Goins Lockmon. She was retired from Hoechst-Celanese Corp. with 30 years of service. She was a former member of the Eastern Star and charter member of Woodhaven Baptist Church. She was the widow of Henry Sanford.

Surviving are her son, Johnny P. Sanford of Rock Hill; her daughter, Betty S. Greene of Rock Hill; two sisters, Willie Mae Jones of Moncks Corner and Maggie Lou Dees of Fort Mill; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her daughter, Betty S. Greene, 1705 Ebinport Road, Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to Woodhaven Baptist Church, 2044 Marett Blvd., Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Irene Sawyer

CHESTER - Miss Irene Sawyer, 95, of Chester County Nursing Center, formerly of Blairs, died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at Chester County Nursing Center.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Little River Presbyterian Church in Blairs, with the Rev. Robert Landsford officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Sawyer was a Fairfield County native. She was a homemaker and a member of Little River Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir. She attended Fairfield County schools.

Surviving are her brother, Lonnie Sawyer of Lancaster; two sisters, Cora Sawyer and Beatrice Sawyer, both of Chester; and two nieces, Jean Yarborough of Blairs and Frances Adams of Lexington, N.C., with whom she lived.

The family will receive friends at the home of her sister, Beatrice Sawyer, 525 Columbia Road.

Denton Funeral Home is in charge.

Amanda Shrader

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Amanda Davis Shrader, 85, of 848 Briarfield Road died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The graveside service will be Sunday at Shrader Cemetery in Hurricane Ridge, W. Va.

Mrs. Shrader was the widow of Giles J. Shrader.

Surviving are her son, Marvin D. Shrader of Granite Falls, N.C.; four daughters, Pansy R. Walker of Fountain Inn, Anna M. Walker of Pinoak, W. Va., Evelyn V. Lystedt of Long Beach, Calif., and Ethel S. Metts of Rock Hill, with whom she lived; 28 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Craven-Shires Funeral home in Bluewell, W. Va.

Edward Spinnler

ROCK HILL - Mr. Edward Spinnler, 94, died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at The Sterling House.

A service and visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home. Burial will be at George Washington Cemetery in Paramus, N.J.

A native of Paterson, N.J., Mr. Spinnler was a son of the late Fred Spinnler and Lena Spinnler. He was of the Protestant faith and formerly of Tamarac, Fla. He was retired as senior staff assistant to the vice president of Public Service Co. in Newark, N.J., after more than 40 years service. He was a member of the Paterson Chapter of the Society for the Preservation of Barber Shop Quartets and founded the Ridgewood Chapter. He was a member of the Elks Club and the Fidelity Masonic Lodge No. 113, both in Ridgewood, N.J. He was the widower of Blanche Rouhren Spinnler.

Surviving is his daughter, Eileen S. Grundy of Rock Hill.

C.C. VanEmburgh Inc., Ridgewood, N.J., and Greene Funeral Home are in charge.

Joe Stewart

ROCK HILL - Mr. Joe Stewart of 1422 Bose Ave. died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Robinson Funeral Home.
