David McCaston

DALLAS, N.C. - Mr. David Hennis McCaston, 74, of 530 Plonk Road, formerly of Rock Hill, died Friday, Feb. 27, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Grandview Memorial Park, with the Rev. Mike Lowery officiating.

Born in Chester County, Mr. McCaston was a Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of American Legion Frank Roach Post 34 and West End Baptist Church. He was a retired loom fixer.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Frances McCaston; two sons, John Henry McCaston and Willie Lee McCaston, both of Rock Hill; two daughters, Wanda Plonk of Dallas, N.C., and Kaye Hill of Rock Hill; his brother, Thomas Eugene McCaston of Rock Hill; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of Kaye Hill, 2048 Cardinal Hill Drive, Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to the West End Baptist Church building fund, 1727 McConnells Hwy., Rock Hill, SC 29732.

John Robinson

McCONNELLS - Mr. John Robinson, 82, of 385 Giles Road died Saturday at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

Arrangements will be announced by Greene Funeral Home.

Mary Rosebrough

SHARON - Miss Mary Matilda "Tick" Rosebrough, 85, of 1105 Carnation Lane died Saturday, Feb. 28, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at St. John Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tony N. Dogan officiating and the Rev. James Burris assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Born in Sharon, Miss Rosebrough was a member of St. John Baptist Church, where she sang in the senior choir, was the church clerk and was involved in other church auxiliaries. She was a member of the AP&B Society and the Friendly Aid Society.

Surviving are six grandchildren whom she reared, Debra Ann Dye of the home, Jerri D. Neal, Terri M. Dye, LaJune D. Knox and Tammy D. Thompson, all of York and Ular J. "Jimmy" Dye of Enoree; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The body may be viewed from 5 to 7 tonight at Wright Funeral Home in York and will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Virl Potts

FORT MILL - The graveside service for Ms. Virl Leonna Davis Potts, 83, of Knollwood Apartments who died Friday, Feb. 27, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center, will be 2 p.m. today at Grandview Memorial Park Mausoleum, with the Rev. Warren Nance officiating.

Born in Greer, Ms. Potts worked for Industrial Mills of Rock Hill and Burlington Mills of Gastonia, N.C.

Surviving are two sons, Gary D. Davis of Rock Hill and James W. Potts of Columbus, Ga.; her daughter, Gayle P. Bailey of Fort Mill; two sisters, Eunice Amerson and Elvie Knight, both of Rock Hill; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of Gayle Bailey, 201 Williamson St.

Whitesell-Wolfe Funeral Home is in charge.

Thelma Turner

LANCASTER - Mrs. Thelma Rollins Turner, 86, died Friday, Feb. 27, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Mahaffey Funeral Home, with Dr. Harold Owens officiating. Burial will be at West Side Cemetery.

Born in Hartsville, Mrs. Turner was retired from Springs Industries. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Lancaster Senior Citizens Club. She was the widow of Arthur J. Turner.

Surviving are her son, William J. Turner of Lancaster; her sister, Janie Hance of Lancaster; two brothers, Richard Rollins of Florence and Clifton Rollins of Camden; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 100 Barron Blvd., Lancaster, SC 29720.

Sallie Conyers

LANCASTER - Mrs. Sallie Branham Conyers, 85, of 3019 Buck Brasington Road died Friday, Feb. 27, 1998, at White Oak Manor nursing center.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. today at Quaker Cemetery in Camden.

Mrs. Conyers was born in Kershaw County.

Surviving are her son, Frank Bullock of Lancaster; her brother, C.D. Branham of Camden; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Hartley Funeral Home in Lancaster is in charge.

Virl Potts

Willie Glass Sr.

LANCASTER - Mr. Willie James "Billy" Glass Sr., 72, of 1411 Crestfield Drive died Sunday, March 1, 1998, at Ebenezer Nursing Home in Rock Hill.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lancaster Memorial Park Mausoleum, with the Revs. Shane Patrick, Jeff Lingle and Roy Barnes officiating.

Born in Union, Mr. Glass retired from The Lancaster News as its advertising department manager. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Kiwanis Club.

Surviving are his wife, Doris Rippy Glass; his son, Willie J. Glass Jr. of Lancaster; his daughter, Billie Jean "Prissy" Allen of Spartanburg; two sisters, Sara Collier of Martinez, Ga., and Ginnie James of Union; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church building fund, P.O. Box 607, Lancaster, SC 29721-0607.

Gabe Pratt

SMYRNA - Gabe Pratt, 14, of Smyrna, formerly of Charlotte, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 1998.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at McEwen Funeral Service, Charlotte Chapel. Burial will be in Smyrna.

Gabe formerly attended Calvary Christian and Flecher schools and was a student at York Middle School. His hobbies included magic, juggling and stop-motion photography.

Surviving are his parents, Foy and Regina Pratt; his sister, Ramie Pratt; his paternal grandparents, George and Dorothy Pratt of Smyrna; and his maternal grandmother, Barbara Cook of Charlotte.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at McEwen Funeral Service.
