William Barnett

NORCROSS, Ga. - Mr. William Wallace Barnett, 67, of 320 Nesbit St., died Sunday, April 11, 1999, at Hospice Atlanta.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Greene Funeral Home in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Jimmy Holley officiating and the Rev. Rick Martin assisting. Entombment will be at Grandview Memorial Park Mausoleum in Rock Hill.

A native of Anniston, Ala., Mr. Barnett was a son of the late Hester Thomas Barnett and Ruth Mae Summers Barnett. He was retired from Gwinnett Hospital Systems where he was an engineering supervisor. He was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are his wife, Lorene Horton Barnett; his son, Richard W. Barnett of Norcross; his brother, Charles T. Barnett of Memphis, Tenn.; two sisters, Rosalee Clinton of Rock Hill and Peggy Ratterree of Atlanta; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight and from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Greene Funeral Home.

Sara Barnhardt

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Sara Alice Gibson Barnhardt of 663 Hickory Oaks Lane died Sunday, April 11, 1999.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Catawba Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Tommy Huddleston officiating and the Rev. Raymond Thompson assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Barnhardt was employed by Allied Payroll Services Inc. She was a member of Catawba Baptist Church. Mrs. Barnhardt was a daughter of Carolyn Brockman Gibson and the late John Q. Gibson Jr.

Surviving in addition to her mother are two daughters, Kim B. Nichols of China Grove, N.C., and Karen B. Martin of Mount Pleasant, N.C.; her brother, John Q. Gibson IV of Rock Hill; two sisters, Virginia G. Brunson and Judy G. DeRossette, both of Rock Hill; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bass Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her brother, John Q. Gibson IV, 1523 Springsteen Road, Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to Catawba Baptist Church, 2639 Catawba Church Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730 or to Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Theodore Bigger

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Dr. Theodore Cuyler Bigger, 86, died Saturday, April 10, 1999, at National Health Care.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Lebanon Baptist Church in Pendleton.

A native of York County, Dr. Bigger was a son of the late Walter Mason Bigger and Lelia Pegram Bigger and was the widower of Harriet Welborn Bigger. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he was a deacon and elder. He was former department chairman and professor emeritus of agriculture at Middle Tennessee State University. He graduated from Clemson University in 1934 and from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and Michigan State University. He also taught at Tennessee Technological University and the University of Arkansas.

He was a member of several agricultural organizations, Sigma Xi, a Rotarian for more than 40 years and a Paul Harris Fellow.

He was a veteran of World War II, served in the Philippine Islands and was held as a prisoner of war for 34 months. He was a survivor of the Bataan Death March and was liberated by Gen. Douglas MacArthur's forces from Bilibid Prison in Manilla Feb. 4, 1945. He retired from the Air Force in 1945 with the rank of major.

Surviving are two daughters, Delia Goodman of Milton, Tenn., and Carolyn Lattimore of Greenville; and six grandchildren.

Woodfin Memorial Chapel is in charge.

Daisy Colbert

GREAT FALLS - Mrs. Daisy Manning Colbert, 86, of 90 Chester Ave. died Sunday, April 11, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

Arrangements will be announced by Washington Funeral Home in Great Falls.

Mark Collins

ROCK HILL - Mr. Mark Edward Collins, 22, of 712 Summerwood Circle died Saturday, April 10, 1999, in New Orleans.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anne Catholic Church, with Father John Giuliani officiating. Burial will be private.

Mr. Edwards was a senior at Tulane University and was a member of the Naval ROTC. He was salutatorian of the Class of 1995 at Northwestern High School where he participated in soccer, basketball and cross country.

Surviving are his parents, Trudy and Dennis Collins; his brother, Greg Collins of Rock Hill; his paternal grandmother, Margaret Collins of Hodge, La.; and his maternal grandparents, Col. and Mrs. R.C. McDonough of Washington, N.C.

The family will be at home, where they will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight.

Memorials may be made to St. Anne Catholic Church, 1698 Bird St., Rock Hill, SC 29730 or to the YMCA, 402 Charlotte Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Greene Funeral Home is in charge.

William Craine

ROCK HILL - Mr. William L. Craine died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, in Pittsburgh.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Nazareth Baptist Church, with the Rev. B.R. Wilson officiating and the Revs. J. H. Bailey and Leroy Ellison assisting. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

Mr. Craine was a World War II veteran and employed at Celanese Corp. and LTV Steele Co. in Pittsburgh, where he retired. He was a member of Nazareth Baptist Church and attended Grace Memorial Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh.

Surviving are two sisters, Arlen Stokes of Baltimore and Willie Ruth Craine of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Clemons Funeral Home is in charge.

Eloise Jackson

CHESTER - Mrs. Eloise Stroud Jackson of 810 Hughes Road died Sunday, April 11, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church, with the Rev. Curtis Washington officiating and the Revs. James Coods and Moses Lightner assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Chester, Mrs. Jackson was a daughter of B.T. Stroud of Chester and the late Bertha Walton Stroud. She attended Finley High School. She was a member of Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir.

Surviving in addition to her father are two sons, James L. "Pone" Jackson of Seattle and Toye Jackson of Chester; three daughters, Laytonia Jackson and Angela Simpson, both of Chester, and LaTeace Jackson-Dennis of Charlotte; two brothers, Ben T. Stroud Jr. of Rock Hill and Troy Stroud of Charlotte; two sisters, Jeanette Ward of Baltimore and Louise S. Mills of Rock Hill; and 11 grandchildren.

Eastern Star Rites will be 7 tonight at Gore's Funeral Home.

The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Ella Kos

LANCASTER - Mrs. Ella "Rusty" Johnson Kos, 73, of 388 S. Potter Road died Sunday, April 11, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. today at Antioch Baptist Church, with the Revs. Kenneth Wren and Thurmond Johnson officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Kershaw County, Mrs. Kos was a daughter of the late Leroy Johnson and Molly Phillips Johnson. She was a homemaker, a past member of Eastern Star and a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Ben Kos Sr.; three sons, Thomas Leroy Kos of Kings Mountain, N.C., Benny Kos of Lancaster and Timothy Neal Kos of Rock Hill; four brothers, Reuben Johnson of Mount Croghan, Herbert Johnson and Clyde Johnson, both of Lancaster, and Junior Johnson of Bennettsville; five sisters, Thelma Oliver of Jefferson, Ethel Catledge of Mount Pisgah, Evelyn Williams of Lancaster, Alice Catoe of Heath Springs and Ruth Mathis of Chester; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Antioch Baptist Church building fund, 3052 Taxahaw Road, Lancaster, SC 299720.
