Sophia Martin

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Sophia Rossi Martin, 82, of 1904 Paces Landing Ave. died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998, at Ebenezer Nursing Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Laurel Grove Memorial Park in Totowa Boro, N.J.

A native of Paterson, N.J., Mrs. Martin was a retired self-employed seamstress and was of the Catholic faith.

Surviving is her husband, John A. Martin of the home.

Greene Funeral Home of Rock Hill is in charge of local arrangements.

Charles McKinney

FORT MILL - Mr. Charles Donald McKinney, 68, of 1317 Legion Road died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998, at his home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fort Mill Church of God, with the Revs. David Kemp and Jack Walker officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Fort Mill, Mr. McKinney was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division during World War II and retired from Westinghouse. He was also a Shriner, a Mason and held the 32nd degree Scottish Rite.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Elma McKinney; his son, Charles R. McKinney of Fort Mill; two daughters, Elizabeth Tennant of Fort Mill and Cathy Blackwelder of Lexington; his brother, Kenneth McKinney of Fort Mill; two sisters, Violet Allred and Yvonnie Giles, both of Fort Mill; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Masonic Rites will be performed at 6:30 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at the family home.

Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, P.O. Box 667, Mauldin, SC 29662.

Max Morris

LANCASTER - Mr. Max Pardue Morris, 56, of 2465 Morris Road died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998, at his home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Zion United Memorial Church, with the Rev. Frank Lybrand officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Morris was a native of Lancaster County. He was a foreman with Quality Sprinkler Co. and a member of Zion United Methodist Church.

Surviving are three sons, Maxie Morris and Tracy Morris, both of Lancaster, and Greg Morris of Atlanta; his daughter, Kim Morris of Indian Land; three brothers, W.J. Morris, Jr. and Ben Morris, both of Lancaster, and Joe Morris of Liberty Hill; his sister, Marcene Plyler of Lancaster; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home.

Memorials can be made to Zion United Methodist Church van fund, 1665 Zion Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.

Joyce Parker

CHESTER - Mrs. Joyce Windham Parker, 54, of 106 Orchard Street died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998, at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Saluda Street Church of God, with the Revs. Dennis Reid and Thomas Brazell officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

A native of Chester, Mrs. Parker was a homemaker and a member of Saluda Street Church of God.

Surviving are her husband, Robert L. Parker Sr.; two sons, Robert L. Parker Jr. and Scott Parker, both of Chester; three daughters, Julie P. Going of Rock Hill, Patty P. Hicks of York and Angela P. Copeland of Chester; three sisters, Doris W. Beam, Bonnie Fowler and Linda Smith, all of Chester; two brothers, Ronnie Windham and Gary Windham Jr., both of Chester; and 14 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Barron Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Annie Pruitt

GREENWOOD - Miss Annie Elizabeth Pruitt, 24, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 1998, at Self Memorial Hospital.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Greene Funeral Home.

Annie Thomas

YORK - Mrs. Annie Laura Grayson Thomas, 67, of 3236 Dr. Nichols Road died Sunday, Aug. 16, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Filbert Presbyterian Church in America, with the Rev. Wallace Tinsley officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Thomas was a data processing operator for Exxon Oil Inc. in Charlotte. She was employed at Pennsylvania House Furniture. She was past president of York W.I.R.E and attended Filbert Presbyterian Church of America.

Surviving are her husband, Marshall Thomas; her son, Billy Miskelly of Sharon; her daughter, Anne M. Jones of York; her stepdaughter, Kathryn T. Jowers of Clover; three brothers, Ike Grayson of York, Bob Grayson of Tampa, Fla., and Bill Grayson of Leesburg, Ga.; and nine grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at York Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Sharon Baptist Church, 3850 York St., Sharon, SC 29742; Filbert Presbyterian Church of America, 2006 N. Highway 321, York, SC 29745; or Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Thomas Wallace Sr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Thomas Clayton Wallace Sr., 34, of 4132 Lesslie Highway died Sunday, Aug. 16, 1998.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. today at Bass Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Jenkins officiating.

Mr. Wallace was a salesman for Accent Mobile Homes.

Surviving are his wife, Melissa Wallace of Lancaster; two sons, Thomas Clayton Wallace Jr. of Myrtle Beach and Thomas Clayton Wallace III of Lancaster; his daughter, Brittany Wallace of Myrtle Beach; his father, Robert Mora of Chester; his mother, Nell Gerald of Rex, Ga.; two sisters, Debbie Manning of Riverdale, Ga., and Penny Waters-Tracy of McDonough, Ga.; and his paternal grandmother, Ruth Smith of Gastonia, N.C.

Virginia Brantley

CHESTER - Mrs. Virginia Littrell Brantley, 76, of 541 Fifth St. died Sunday, Aug. 16, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Saluda Street Church of God, with the Revs. Dennis Reid, Thomas Ashley and Hubert Orvin officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Mrs. Brantley was retired from Springs Industries. She was the widow of Fred M. "Bud" Brantley. She was a member of Saluda Street Church of God and attended Buncombe County, N.C., schools.

Surviving are her son, the Rev. Michael "Mickey" Brantley of Crescent Springs, Ky.; her daughter, Elaine Brantley of Chester; three brothers, W.R. Littrell Sr., Wiley Littrell and Glenn Littrell, all of Leicester, N.C.; two sisters, Laura Holder of Asheville, N.C., and Inabelle James of Leicester; two granddaughters; and her special daughter, Barbara Waldridge of Williamsburg, Ky.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Paul Bumgarner

YORK - Mr. Paul Hamilton Bumgarner, 89, of 2505 Hord Road died Monday, Aug. 17, 1998, at Ebenezer Nursing Home in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at York Funeral Home, with the Rev. James McGill officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

Mr. Bumgarner was a retired warden for the South Carolina Forestry Commission.

Surviving are his wife, Ruby Duncan Bumgarner; his son, Roger Bumgarner of Grand Rapids, Mich.; three daughters, Brenda B. Phillips and Janie Bumgarner, both of York, and Kay B. Boulware of Boiling Springs, N.C.; his brother, William Bumgarner of York; his sister, Polly B. Smith of Winterville, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at York Funeral Home.
