Eugene Lauffer Sr.

BENNETTSVILLE - Mr. Eugene Edward Lauffer Sr., 69, of Bennettsville died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998, at home.

A blessing service will be 9:15 a.m. Thursday at Kepple-Graft Funeral Home in Greensburg, Pa. The funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Bede Catholic Church in Bovard, Pa. Burial will be at Greensburg Catholic Cemetery.

Mr. Lauffer was retired as a master scheduler of Emerson Electric/Marley Electric. He was a veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife, Anna Rapach Lauffer; two sons, Gene Lauffer of Columbia and Michael T. Lauffer of Charleston; two daughters, Michele Huss of Cleveland, Ohio, and Nikki Lauffer of Rock Hill; his mother, Natalie Salvatore Lauffer of Jeannette, Pa.; two sisters, Delores L. Albert of Greensburg, Pa., and Rosemarie L. Lavelle of Jeanette, Pa.; five grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today and from 7 to 9 tonight at Kepple-Graft Funeral Home Inc., 524 N. Main St., Greensburg, Pa.

Annie Pruette

GREENWOOD - Miss Annie Elizabeth Pruette, 24, of 613 Brooklane Drive, formerly of York, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 1998, at Self Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Tirzah ARP Church in York, with the Revs. Barry Eller and Steve Reynolds officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Miss Pruette lived in the Beth Shiloh Community in York until 1992. She moved to Greenwood to live with her caregiver, Brenda Tessener, after the death of her mother. She graduated from Emerald High School and was a member of Tirzah ARP Church. She was employed with Emerald Center in Greenwood.

Surviving are her father, Cecil L. Pruette of York; her brother, William Michael Pruette of Charlotte; her maternal grandparents, Ed L. and Grace M. McClain of Rock Hill; and her maternal grandparents, John "Ikey" and Nonie Robinson of Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to Volunteers in Medical Missions, P.O. Box 756, Seneca, SC 29679 or to Tirzah ARP Vision 2002 fund, 6161 Mount Gallant Road, York, SC 29745.

Annie Vaughn

CHARLESTON - Mrs. Annie Maude Vaughn, 101, of 1137 Sam Rittenberg Blvd., formerly of Chester, died Monday, Aug. 17, 1998, at Manor Care.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Evergreen Cemetery, with the Rev. Clay Waldrip officiating.

A native of Chester, Mrs. Vaughn was the owner and operator of Shandon Pie Shop in Columbia for 16 years. She was a graduate of Chester High School and a member of Shandon Baptist Church in Columbia. She was the widow of Charles E. Vaughn.

Surviving are four daughters, Lucile Brown of Cayce, Rachel Johnson of Clinton, Eloise Holland of Folly Beach and Kathleen Coleman of Chester; two brothers, Richard White of Chester and Leonard White of Winston-Salem, N.C.; her sister, Eva Pearce of Columbia; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Barron Funeral Home.

Myrtle Phillips

LANCASTER - Mrs. Myrtle Gardner Phillips, 76, of 2812 Pineview Drive died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Homer Hinson officiating. Burial will be at Buffalo Baptist Church cemetery.

Mrs. Phillips was retired from Springs Industries. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church and was the widow of John C. Phillips Sr.

Surviving are two sons, John C. Phillips Jr. of Parkton, N.C., and Randy B. Phillips of Lancaster; two daughters, Ann Autry and Barbara Dale Phillips, both of Lancaster; her sister, Lillie Mae Phillips of Kershaw; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home.

Gary Althouse

ROCK HILL - Mr. Gary Althouse, 38, of 143 Foxcroft Drive died Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

Mr. Althouse was a native of Toledo, Ohio. He was a technical services manager for Paramount Show Services in Charlotte.

Surviving are his wife, Eva M. Althouse; his stepson, Jason M. Leonhardt of the home; his stepdaughter, Erin M. Kennedy; his parents, Philip Leroy and Carolyn Mathewson Althouse of Toledo, Ohio; two brothers, Bruce A. Althouse and William Todd Althouse, both of Toledo; and his sister, Barbara A. Link of Toledo.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 4:30 p.m. today at Greene Funeral Home.

James Beckham Sr.

HEATH SPRINGS - Mr. James Howard Beckham Sr., 94, of Pleasant Hill Community died Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Hill ARP Church, with the Revs. William Roberts and Roy E. Beckham officiating. Burial will be at Salem Cemetery.

Mr. Beckham was a retired accountant for R.H. Collins Grain Co. He was a lifelong member of Pleasant Hill ARP Church where he served as an elder and church treasurer.

Surviving are his wife, Johnnie Mae Caskey Beckham; two sons, James H. Beckham of Lancaster and Maurice E. Beckham of Greenville; two daughters, Jo Anne Tyler of Birmingham, Ala., and Sara B. Allen of Charlotte; his sister, Oneita Beckham; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Mary Bowers

EDGEMOOR - Mrs. Mary Gordon Alford Bowers, 75, of 1944 Chestnut Lane died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be private.

Surviving are five sons, Johnny E. Alford of Sumter, Lee S. Alford of York, William David Alford and Robert Alford, both of Rock Hill, and Thomas H. Alford of Chester; her daughter, Donna A. Carpenter of Gulf Shores, Ala.; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth Fairbank

LAS VEGAS - Mrs. Elizabeth Jackson Fairbank, 77, of Las Vegas, formerly of Rock Hill, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998, at Valley Hospital.

The funeral will be Sunday at Palm Funeral Home in Las Vegas.

Surviving are her husband, Coy Fairbank; her son, Billy Emory of California; her daughter, Judy Goetz of Las Vegas; and two sisters, Margaret Gillespie of Rock Hill and Anne Abbott of Kensington, Md.

Memorials may be made to West End Baptist Church building fund, 1727 McConnells Highway, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.

Willie McCullough

CHARLOTTE - Mr. Willie B. McCullough, 48, of Charlotte, formerly of Chester, died July 19, 1998.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by King's Funeral Home in Chester.
