Christina Corvaia

FORT MILL - Mrs. Christina Cappella Corvaia, 72, of 1805 Lillian Lane died Thursday, April 8, 1999, at Mercy Hospital South.

A graveside service will be Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Somers, N.Y.

A native of Bronx, N.Y., Mrs. Corvaia was retired from Reader's Digest and was a member of the Catholic faith.

Surviving are her husband, Don Corvaia of Fort Mill; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Beecher Funeral Home in Brewster, N.Y.

Wolfe Funeral Home in Fort Mill is in charge of local arrangements.

Henry Kedrowski

FLENSBURG, Minn. - Mr. Henry Sylvester Kedrowski, 69, died Monday, April 5, 1999, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in St. Cloud, Minn.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Anthony Kroll officiating. Burial with a Military Prayer Service by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1112 will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery.

A native of Morrison County, Minn., he was a son of Jacob Kedrowski and Martha Wochnik Kedowski. He was employed at Camp Ridley as a mechanic from 1961 until he retired in 1989.

He joined the Minnesota Army National Guard in 1959 and served 30 years before retiring as a Sergeant First Class in 1989. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1112, where he served two terms as a junior vice commander and one term as senior vice commander. He was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Parrish, where he served as an usher and member of the Cemetery Committee.

Surviving are his wife, Clara Kedrowski; his son, Mark Kredowski of Rock Hill; his daughter, Karen Fitzgerald of Rock Hill; three sisters, Bernice Bolesky of Dearborn, Mich., Veronica Altrichter of Clear Lake, Minn., and Cecilia Daniels of Nevis, Minn.; and two grandchildren.

Brenny Funeral Home in Little Falls, Minn., is in charge.

Eva Howze

EDGEMOOR - Mrs. Eva J. McMullen Howze, 86, of 4400 Promise Pride Road died Monday, April 12, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester, is in charge.

Dorothy Kelly

CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Dorothy Ann Shumway Kelly, 82, of 14609 Sorrell Court died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

Mrs. Kelly was the widow of Richard J. Kelly and was a homemaker.

Arrangements will be announced by Wolfe Funeral Home in Fort Mill.

Lenora Sanford

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Lenora Sanford, 90, of 1800 India Hook Road died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Greene Funeral Home.

Irene Sawyer

CHESTER - Mrs. Irene Sawyer, 95, of Chester County Nursing Center, formerly of Blairs, died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at Chester County Nursing Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Denton Funeral Home.

The family will be at the home of her sister, Beatrice Sawyer, 525 Columbia Road.

Nivens Scoggins

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Nivens Deas Scoggins, 91, of 3309 Ogden Road died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at home.

A graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Laurelwood Cemetery, with the Revs. Fant Steele and Katherine Bostrom officiating.

A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Scoggins was a daughter of the late Levy Deas and Mittie Howie Deas. She was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 35 years. She retired after 35 years service from J.C. Penney Co. and was the widow of Louie Thomas Scoggins.

Surviving are her son, the Rev. Donald T. Scoggins of Rock Hill; two daughters, Frances S. Gaulden of Rock Hill and Elizabeth S. Steele of Edgemoor; her sister, Sarah D. Moody of Rock Hill; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Antioch United Methodist Church, c/o Sara Jenkins, 530 E. Robertson Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730 or Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Douglas Scott

ROCK HILL - Mr. Douglas Thompson "Doug" Scott, 74, of 1950 Eden Terrace died Monday, April 12, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Grace Ministries Church, with the Rev. Dexter Lambert officiating and the Rev. Greg Means assisting. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Scott was a son of the late James Eugene Scott and Elizabeth Devinney Scott.

Mr. Scott was retired from Duke Power Co. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Grace Ministries Church.

Surviving are his wife, Earline M. Scott; two sons, Donald Thompson Scott and James Monroe Scott, both of Rock Hill; three daughters, Barbara Scott Neal, Mary Anne Scott Leopard and Kathryn Scott Sowell, all of Rock Hill; his brother, Samuel Edward Scott of Bessemer City, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Ministries Church building fund, 1511 Mount Holly Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730 or to the York County Humane Society, P.O. Box 10261, Rock Hill, SC 29731.

Eloise Simpson

CHESTER - Mrs. Eloise Stroud Simpson of 810 Hughes Road died Sunday, April 11, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church, with the Rev. Curtis Washington officiating and the Revs. James Coods and Moses Lightner assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Chester, Mrs. Simpson was a daughter of B.T. Stroud of Chester and the late Bertha Walton Stroud. She attended Finley High School. She was a member of Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, and was a member of the Bright Light Chapter No. 146 Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving in addition to her father are her husband, William Simpson; two sons, James L. "Pone" Jackson of Seattle and Toye Jackson of Chester; three daughters, Laytonia Jackson and Angela Simpson, both of Chester, and LaTeace Jackson-Dennis of Charlotte; two brothers, Ben T. Stroud Jr. of Rock Hill and Troy Stroud of Charlotte; two sisters, Jeanette Ward of Baltimore and Louise S. Mills of Rock Hill; and 11 grandchildren.

The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. today.

Gore's Funeral Home is in charge.

Ellen Snipes

LANCASTER - Mrs. Ellen Louise Gainer Snipes, 70, of 5010 J.B. Denton Road died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Faith Baptist Church, with the Revs. Jimmy Fore and Ken Snead officiating. Burial will be at New Hope Memorial Cemetery.

A native of Lancaster, Mrs. Snipes was a daughter of the late John Lee Gainer and Amanda Bailey Gainer. She was retired from J.P. Stevens Co. and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are her husband, Bruce Snipes; four sons, Robert Snipes of Great Falls and Randy Snipes, Donald Snipes and Luke Snipes, all of Lancaster; her daughter, Sylvia Adams of Lancaster; three brothers, Curtis Gainer, Elliott Gainer and Jerry Gainer, all of Lancaster; her sister, Eunice Snipes of Lancaster; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at home.

Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Building, Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852.

Hezekiah Adams

CLOVER - Bishop Hezekiah Adams, 73, of 1526 Lawrence Road died Thursday, April 8, 1999, at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, N.C.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Gethsemane Apostle and Prophets of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Clover, Mr. Adams was a son of the late John Adams Sr. and Janie Kithcart Adams. He joined Gethsemane Church of Christ in 1951, where he became an ordained deacon, a trustee and chairman of the trustee board. In 1969, he was ordained elder and bishop of the newly incorporated Apostles and Prophets Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Surviving are his wife, Ethel Hope Phillips Adams; six sons, James I. Adams of Fayetteville, Danny Adams of Clover, Brandon J. Adams of Bessemer City, N.C., Victor C. Adams, Ricky Adams and Hezekiah Adams Jr., all of the home; six daughters, Brenda F. Lowery of Clover, Glenda M. Lowery and Patricia A. Dunlap, both of Gastonia, N.C., Cathy A. Evans of Colonial Heights, Va., and Jeanette Adams and Angela Adams, both of the home; three brothers, Isaiah Adams, John Adams Jr. and Johnson E. Adams, all of Clover; three sisters, Verine Asbury and Emma Sue Nance, both of Knoxville, Tenn., and Elizabeth Matthew of Clover; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the church.

The body may be viewed from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home.
