John Hardin

ROCK HILL - Mr. John Ernest Hardin of 803 Ogden Road died Monday, April 5, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral Mass will be 2 p.m. Saturday at The Oratory, with Father David Valtierra officiating and the Revs. Johnny Worthy and J.H. Bailey assisting. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Hardin was a native of York County. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was a graduate of Emmett Scott High School.

Surviving are his wife, Linda M. Hardin; two daughters, Alice H. Hinton of Rock Hill and Terri Lynn Hardin of Atlanta; his mother, Frances M. Hardin of Rock Hill; four brothers, James Edward Hardin, Alexander Ronald Hardin, Donald Lee Hardin and Felix Michael Hardin, all of Rock Hill; his sister, Dorothy H. Massey; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at Robinson Funeral Home and at other times at home.

The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Julia Stevens

EASLEY - Mrs. Julia Martin Stevens, 83, of 709 Pelzer Highway, formerly of Rock Hill, died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at her home

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Sollie Hicks officiating. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery.

A native of Fairfield County, Mrs. Stevens was a daughter of the late David Ramsey and Anna Lugenia Martin Martin. She was the widow of Thomas L. Stevens Sr. Mrs. Stevens was retired from Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Rock Hill.

Surviving are her son, Thomas L. Stevens Jr. of Easley; her sister, Elizabeth Knox of Rock Hill; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her sister, Elizabeth Knox, 1624 Phelps St., Rock Hill.

Willie Crain

PITTSBURGH - Mr. Willie Lee Crain, formerly of Rock Hill, died Wednesday, April 7, 1999.

Arrangements will be announced by Clemons Funeral Home in Rock Hill.

Frank Elliott Jr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Frank Elliott Jr., 84, of 775 Bridgewood Drive died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

Burial will be 10:30 a.m. today at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church cemetery. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. today at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Revs. R. Boyce Wilson, John A. "Jack" Basie and Harold "Bo" Coleman officiating.

A native of Charlotte who grew up in Greenville, Mr. Elliott was a son of the late Jasper Franklin Elliott Sr. and Lottie Moon Wall Elliott. He was a retired sales representative with Southeastern Paper Co. in Spartanburg. He was a member of Oakland Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Winthrop Training School and was a member of the Rock Hill Elks Club, where he held many offices.

Surviving is his wife, Martha Howe Elliott.

The family will receive friends after the service at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Ebenezer Memorial Association, 775 Bridgewood Drive, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Viola Gardner

LANCASTER - Mrs. Viola Johnson Gardner, 89, died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

Burial was at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Lancaster County, Mrs. Gardner was the daughter of the late William Johnson and Hattie Usher Johnson and was the widow of Bennie W. Gardner Sr. A homemaker, she was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are her son, Bennie W. Gardner Jr. of Lancaster; her daughter, Betty Faulkner of Clover; two sisters, Azilee Steele and Eleanor Beach, both of Lancaster; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 1302, Lancaster, SC 29721.

Hartley Funeral Home was in charge.

Hazel Gibson

CLOVER - Mrs. Hazel Irene Pursley Gibson, 89, of 113 Flat Rock St. died Wednesday, April 7, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Rob Patrick officiating. Burial will be at Woodside Cemetery.

A native of York County, Mrs. Gibson was a daughter of the late Ervin Gadberry Pursley and Sammie Kilgo Anderson and was the widow of Lawrence Edward Gibson. She was a member of Clover ARP Church.

Surviving are her brother, Harry Pursley of Clover; and two sisters, Mary Ellen Brown of Asheville, N.C., and Addie Laughridge of Clover.

The family will receive friends at home.

Memorials may be made to Clover ARP Church, 127 Kings Mountain St., Clover, SC 29710.

Zelma Robertson

YORK - Ms. Zelma Clementine Garris Robertson, 55, of 921 Hunter St. died Wednesday, April 7, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church in York.

A native of York, Ms. Robertson was a 1961 graduate of York High School. She was a homemaker.

Surviving are her son, Sidney Robertson of Charlotte; her daughter, Melessia Robertson of the home; her mother, Grace Wallace of Fort Mill; two sisters, Alice Macomber of Fort Pierce, Fla., and Phyllis Harris of Rock Hill; and two grandchildren, Catherine Robertson and Amanda Sharp, both of the home.

The family will receive friends today, Friday and Saturday at the home and also at her mother's home, 502 Jackson St., Fort Mill.

Wolfe Funeral Home is in charge.
