Audrey Blanks

LANDO - Mrs. Audrey Ramsey Blanks, 71, of 3704 Tadlock Road died Wednesday, March 31, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Lando Church of God, with the Rev. Charles C. LaFoy officiating. Burial will be at Lando Cemetery.

A native of Lando, Mrs. Blanks was a daughter of the late William Wade and Eller Coker Ramsey. Mrs. Blanks was a retiree of Manetta Mills in Lando with 30 years of service and member of Lando Church of God.

Surviving are three sons, Robert Blanks of York, Fred Blanks of Williston and Wade Blanks of Fort Lawn; three sisters, Frances Thorpe of Edgemoor, Lula Sides of Fort Lawn and Sadie Quinn of Rock Hill; seven grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730 or to Lando Church of God, P.O. Box135, Lando, SC 29724.

Greene Funeral Home is in charge.

Zenta Bundza

FORT MILL - Mrs. Zenta Kampusis Bundza, 76, of Doby's Bridge Road died Thursday, April 1, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The memorial service will be private.

Mrs. Bundza was a native of Latvia. She moved to Fort Mill 18 years ago and was a homemaker.

Surviving is her husband, Elmer Bundza; her daughter, Roswitha Voss of Charlotte; and her brother, Theodore Kampusis of Australia.

Wolfe Funeral Home is in charge.

Carolyn Harper

LANCASTER - Miss Carolyn R. Harper, 61, of 2063 Harper Lane in the Elgin Community died Friday, April 2, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Luke United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Carlos Gardner officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Lancaster County, Miss Harper was a daughter of the late Vernon Grier Harper and Agnes H. Harper. She was retired from Springs Industries and was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her brother, Ned Harper of Lancaster and her sister, Annie H. Williams of Lancaster.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her brother, Ned Harper, 2027 Harper Lane, Lancaster.

Memorials may be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 128 Providence Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.

Horace Mann

ROCK HILL - Mr. Horace Edward "Bully" Mann, 43, of 1744 Aaron Ave. died Tuesday, March 30, 1999, in Detroit.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at New Zion Baptist Church, with the Rev. Robert Brown officiating and the Rev. E.E. Vance assisting. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Mann was a truck driver and a member of New Zion Baptist Church. He attended Clinton College. He was an U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are two sons, Derrick Hinton and Adrian Wylie, both of Rock Hill; his mother, Arsonia Mann of Rock Hill; his sister, Phyllis Fickling of Bartlett, Tenn.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 tonight at Robinson Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. today.

Carrie Steele

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Carrie Griggs Steele, 99, of White Oak Manor died Friday, April 2, 1999, at White Oak Manor.

The graveside service will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Laurelwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Eddie Ramsey officiating.

A native of Chesterfield County, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Lula Holley Griggs. She was a member of Park Baptist Church since 1934. She worked as a weaver in mills in Rock Hill most of her life and retired from Highland Park Mill. She was an avid gardener, growing, canning and selling many kinds of fruits and vegetables. She also was a quilter and sold 26 quilts before moving into White Oak Manor.

Surviving is her son, Charles F. "Bill" Steele of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Bill and Alma Steele, 636 Stratford Lane, Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to Park Baptist Church, 717 E. Main St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Willie Wilkinson

ROCK HILL - Miss Willie B. Wilkinson, 82, of Ebenezer Nursing Home died Friday, April 2, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Greene Funeral Home.

David Young Sr.

CHESTER - Mr. David "Monkey Man" Young Sr. of 104 Edwards St. died Tuesday, March 30, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Second Wilson Baptist Church, with the Rev. Robert Bailey officiating and the Revs. William Bryson and Moses Lightner assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Young was educated in the Chester County schools. He joined Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church at an early age. He worked for Southern Coal and Oil.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley Foster Young; five sons, Terry Foster, Charles Young, David Young, Kenneth Young and Aris Young, all of Chester, three daughters, Shirley Chisholm, Mary Foster and Gretta Hopkins, all of Chester; two brothers, Johnny Young and John Woods, both of Chester; his sister, Ruby Small of Chester; 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at home.

The body may be viewed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Christopher King's Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road.

The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. today.

Helen Ayers

CATAWBA - Mrs. Helen Biddix Ayers, 68, of 4058 Roddy Road died Thursday, April 1, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Catawba Ward, with Bishop Peiter Reynders officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

Mrs. Ayers was a daughter of the late Chestley and Geneva Bond Biddix and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Catawba Ward. The widow of Johnnie Ayers, she was retired from Randolph Mills.

Surviving are four sons; Alan Ayers of the home, and Ralph Ayers, Johnnie Ayers and Dennis Ayers, all of Rock Hill; two daughters, Marilyn A. Harrison of Rock Hill, and Vivian A. Garland, of Denver; her stepdaughter, Emma A. Mullinax of Gaffney; her brother, Braxton Biddix of Gastonia, N.C.; her sister, Gretta B. Bell, of Chester; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to the Missionary Fund, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Catawba Ward, 2340 Indian Trial, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
