Jesse Turner

WEST SCRANTON, Pa. - Mr. Jesse F. Turner of West Scranton, Pa., died Monday, March 8, 1999.

A native of Virginia, he was a son of the late Sam W. Turner and Lelia Mae Turner. He was a self-employed painter and avid fisherman and sports fan.

Surviving are his lifelong companion, Marion Matylewicz; three stepdaughters, Shirley Hope, Robin Cimini and Beverly Riley; two brothers, William S. Turner of Rock Hill and James G. Turner of Brunswick, Ga.; his sister, Virgie Mae Barnes of Boykin, Va.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice, 746 Jefferson Ave., Scranton, PA 18510.

Jonathan Whitley

KERSHAW - Mr. Jonathan Daniel Whitley, 15, of 6564 Bowers Lane died Tuesday, March 23, 1999.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. today at Abney Baptist Church, with the Revs. Mendel Baker and Todd Horton officiating. Burial will be at Kershaw City Cemetery.

Mr. Whitley was a member of Abney Baptist Church. He was a 10th-grader at Andrew Jackson High School.

Surviving are his parents, John Woodrow Whitley Jr. and Tammy Darlene Bowers Whitley of Kershaw; his maternal grandparents, Raymond Bowers and Willene Bowers of Kershaw; and his maternal great-grandmother, Brennie Love of Lancaster.

Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.

Inez Wylie

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Inez Wylie of 2910 Boss Wylie Road died Wednesday, March 24, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Pineville AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Daniel Chisolm officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Mem-orial Park.

Mrs. Wylie was a member of Weeping Mary Baptist Church, where she was president of the senior choir. She retired from Piedmont Medical Center as a licensed practical nurse after 31 years and was a graduate of Emmett Scott High School.

Surviving are her husband, Henry Wylie Jr.; four sons, John Henry Wylie, Larry Wylie, Robert Wylie and Stanley Wylie, all of Rock Hill; three daughters, Delois Johnson of Charlotte and Vernice Macon and Vera Thompson, both of Rock Hill; her stepson, Robert Moore of Rock Hill; her stepdaughter, Isabelle Moore of Lake Wylie; her adopted daughter, Clara Pettus of Fort Mill; seven brothers, Alfonzo Leach of Paterson, N.J., Robert Leach Jr., Gary Leach, Tommy Leach, and John George Leach, all of Rock Hill, and Herman Leach and Richard Leach, both of Columbia; five sisters, Mary L. Mitchell and the Rev. Hattie L. Foster, both of Rock Hill, and Eloise L. Robinson of Atlanta, Mattie L. Edwards of Paterson, N.J., and Doris L. Odom of Columbia; 24 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 tonight at Robinson Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Mary Ann Campbell

CHESTER - Mrs. Mary Ann Jones Campbell, 66, of 2687 McDaniel Road died Monday, March 22, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Phillip's Baptist Church, with the Rev. Rosa-lind Laney officiating and the Revs. Moses Lightner and Williams Hayes assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Campbell was a Chester native. She was a member of St. Phillip's Baptist Church, where she was a deaconess, choir member and past Mother of the Usher Board. She was a former employee of Springs Industries Riverlawn plant in Fort Lawn and attended Chester County public schools. She was the widow of Robert James Campbell.

Surviving are two sons, Robert Campbell Jr. of Chester and Willie Lee Campbell of the home; her daughter, Barbara C. Jones of Chester; five sisters, Janie Stinson, Grace Jackson, Lucille Jones and Willie Mae Jones, all of Chester, and Louise McMullen of Edgemoor; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., and at other times at home.

The body may be viewed from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday at King's Funeral Home.

The body will be taken to the church at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Timothy Carroll

GASTONIA, N.C. - Mr. Timothy Ivan Carroll, 26, of 1203 W. Second St. died Sunday, March 21, 1999, in Gaston County, N.C.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home in York, with the Rev. Keith Hunter officiating. Burial will be at Hopewell United Methodist Church cemetery.

Mr. Carroll was a forklift driver for Triple D Publishing.

Surviving are his wife, Debra Brownon Carroll of Shelby, N.C.; his son, Cameron Leach Carroll of Greensboro, N.C.; his father, Joe Worthy of Gastonia, N.C.; his brother, Chris Pressley of Gastonia; his sister, Channell Aigbedo of High Point, N.C.; his grandfathers, Donald Wood and Mason Carroll, both of Gastonia; his grandmother, Elizabeth Worthy of Gastonia; and two step-daughters, Crystal Brownon and Tiffany Brownon, both of Shelby.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home in York.

John Flack Jr.

UNION MILLS, N.C. - Mr. John Edward Flack Jr., 79, of 3205 Highway 221 died Wednesday, March 24, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Crowe Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wayne Ogle officiating. Burial will be at Round Hill Baptist Church cemetery.

A native of Rutherford County, N.C., Mr. Flack was the son of the late John Flack and Melinda Koon Flack. He was a retired machine operator for Broyhill Furniture, a member of Thermal City United Methodist Church and a veteran of the Marine Corps.

Surviving are his wife, Beatrice Moore Flack; three sons, Larry Flack of Rutherfordton, N.C., Eddie Flack of Union Mills and the Rev. Carroll Flack of Albemarle, N.C.; his adopted son, Carroll Costner of Union Mills; two daughters, Linda Flack Cole of Rutherfordton, N.C., and Joyce Flack Drye of Albemarle, N.C.; four brothers, Austin Flack of Washington, and Justin Flack, Kolen Flack and Pete Flack, all of Union Mills; five sisters, Martha Lovelace and Thalia Shook, both of Union Mills, Frances Phillips of Shelby, N.C., Beth Poindexter of Lawton, Okla., and Marjorie Buchanan of Fort Mill; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Crowe Funeral Home.

Robert Gourley Jr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Robert Sidney "R.S." Gourley Jr., 74, of 957 Pearson Drive died Thursday, March 25, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Woodlawn Presbyterian Church in Sharon, with the Rev. Dr. James McGill officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Sharon, Mr. Gourley was a son of the late Robert Sidney Gourley Sr. and Maggie McCullough Gourley. He worked at Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co. and was retired from Mozingo Oil. He was a lifetime member of Woodlawn Presbyterian Church, where he was superintendent of the Sunday school and was a deacon, elder, and member of the men's Sunday school class.

Surviving is his wife, Louise Young Gourley.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Woodlawn Presbyterian Church, 3852 Woodlawn St., Sharon, SC 29742.
