Beatrice Haines

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Beatrice Baker Haines, 72, of 1101 Cherry Meadow Lane died Thursday, March 25, 1999 at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Catawba Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Tommy Huddleston officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Haines was a retired self-employed seamstress and a member of Catawba Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Daniel W. Haines; her son, James Horne of Pageland; three daughters, Pam Hege of Rock Hill, Diane Price of Pageland and Margaret Smith of Edgemoor; and 15 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her daughter, Pam Hege, 1016 Susan Circle, Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to the York County Cancer Association, P.O. Box 4975 CRS, Rock Hill, SC 29731.

James Horton

HICKORY GROVE - Mr. James Morgan "Tucker" Horton, 69, of 1461 Bonner Horton Road died Tuesday, March 23, 1999, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Bullock's Creek Presbyterian Church, with the Revs. Gene Thomp-son and Tommy Hope officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Sharon, Mr. Horton was the son of Eva Inman Horton of Hickory Grove and the late E. Bonner Horton Sr. He was a member of Bullock's Creek Presbyterian Church. He retired from Rock Hill Printing & Finishing after 25 years.

Surviving in addition to his mother are two sons, James Bruce Horton of Jacksonville, Fla., and Frank Allan Horton of Sharon; his daughter, Karen Denice Horton of Rock Hill; three brothers, E.B. Horton Jr. and William Horton, both of Hickory Grove, and Walter Lee Horton of Rock Hill; six sisters, Betty Price of Axtelle, Texas, Trula Hamm and Dorothy Horton, both of Lockhart, Carolyn Bradley of Chester, Linda Belue of Union and Eleanor Michealls of Clover; and two grandchildren.

S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home in Union is in charge.

The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. today.

Memorials may be made to Hickory Grove Rescue Squad.

Jean Davis

CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Jean Elizabeth Davis, 65, of 5220 Buckingham Drive died Friday, March 19, 1999, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the McEwen Funeral Service, Pineville Chapel, with the Rev. Carl W. Houston officiating. A private entombment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park.

Mrs. Davis was a sales representative for the Livingston and Haven Pneumatic Hydraulic Company of Charlotte, with 25 years of service.

Surviving are two sons, William Jeffrey Davis and Christopher Lynn Davis, both of Charlotte; two daughters, Kimberly Jane Davis of Charlotte and Jill A. Denton of Fort Mill; her mother, Gabrilla Holt of Raleigh, N.C.; and her sister, Becky Pierce of Raleigh.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the McEwen Funeral Home in Charlotte.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association of North Carolina, Inc., 5315 Greenbrook Drive, Charlotte, NC 28205.

Dorothy Moore

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Dorothy Honeycutt Moore, 78, of 1815 Amherst Court died Thursday, March 25, 1999, at Sonshine Village.

A native of Lincolnton, N.C., Mrs. Moore was the daughter of the late Samuel Honeycutt and Cora Finger Honeycutt. She was the widow of Thomas Jefferson Moore. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of The Brethren.

Surviving are two sons, Gerry Moore of Rock Hill and Jim Moore of Brighton, Mich.; six grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Cauthen Funeral Home.

William Turner Sr.

BLACKSBURG - Mr. William "Willie" B. Turner Sr., 94, formerly of 100 S. John St. died Wednesday, March 24, 1999, at Spring Arbor in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Blacksburg, with the Revs. Ken Reid and Don Whitener officiating. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery.

A native of Blacksburg, Mr. Turner was the son of the late Lesir Turner and Minnie Turner. He owned and operated Turner's Store in Blacksburg for more than 71 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and charter member of the Rotary Club.

Surviving are three sons, William B. Turner Jr. and Thomas Turner, both of Rock Hill, and Richard A. Turner of Birmingham, Ala.; his daughter, Alethia "Dolly" Skinner of Lexington, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at White Columns Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 122 W. Cherokee St., Blacksburg, SC 29702.

Massey Whitlock Jr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Massey Whitlock Jr. of 720 Kinghurst Drive died Friday, March 19, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Pineville AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Eugene Goodwin officiating and the Rev. Willie L. Hardin assisting. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Whitlock was a member of Pineville AME Zion Church, where he was on the Aid Society and was a former member of the trustee board and senior usher board. He attended York County public schools.

Surviving are his daughter, Susie W. Odom of Charlotte; two sons, Tommy Tucker of Rock Hill and Gary L. Whitlock of Kingston, N.Y.; two brothers, David Whitlock and Leroy Whitlock, both of Rock Hill; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the home of his brother, Leroy Whitlock, 1041 S. Stonewall Ave., Rock Hill.

The body will be taken to the church at noon today.

Robinson Funeral Home is in charge.

Clara Willis

MARION, N.C. - Mrs. Clara Boyd Willis, 82, died Wednesday, March 24, 1999, at McDowell Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Westmoreland Funeral Home, with the Revs. Gene Deaton and Roger Haley officiating. Burial will be at McDowell Memorial Park.

A native of McDowell County, N.C., Mrs. Willis was the daughter of the late James H. Boyd Sr. and Hettie McKinney Boyd. She was the widow of Paul Evans Willis. A homemaker, she was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Marion.

Surviving are her daughter, Margaret Willis Smith of Rock Hill; her brother, Jim Boyd of Marion; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Westmoreland Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the First Freewill Baptist Church of Marion, 250 Baldwin Ave., Marion, NC 28752.
