Ruby Hargett

YORK - Ms. Ruby Hargett, 81, died Saturday, March 20, 1999, at Hospice House in Winston-Salem, N.C.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Forest Lawn Cemetery, with the Rev. Wade Rogers officiating.

A native of Charlotte, Ms. Hargett was the daughter of the late Francis Marion and Frances Elizabeth Morgan Hargett. During World War II, she worked as an inspector in a shipyard.

Surviving are six nieces, Elizabeth Hargett of Greensboro, N.C., Ruby Davis of Ramseur, N.C., Rachel Pennington of York, Louise Thompson of Ashboro, N.C., Jozzett Helle of Hacienda Heights, Calif., and Kitty Davis of Charlotte; and five nephews, B.M. Hargett of Ashboro, N.C., B.A. Hargett of Mount Airy, Ga., John L. Hargett of St. Louis, Rudy Hargett of Waxshaw, N.C. and Jack Hargett of Charlotte.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Winston-Salem, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.

McEwen Funeral Service, Charlotte Chapel, is in charge.

Evelyn McKeown

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Evelyn Carnes McKeown died Friday, March 19, 1999, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Bass Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Broughton officiating. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery.

A native of York County, Mrs. McKeown was the daughter of the late Marion and Beulah Morgan Carnes. She was a member of College Park Baptist Church and was the widow of Clarence McKeown. She was a homemaker.

Surviving are her daughter, Tonda McKeown Huffstetler of Rock Hill; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Bass Funeral Home and at other times at her daughter's home, 400 Peachtree Road, Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to College Park Baptist Church, 1209 Eisenhower Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Stephanie Sexton

ROCK HILL - Miss Stephanie Allyson Sexton, 28, of 114 Long St. died Friday, March 19, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Garden Sanctuary Church of God, with the Rev. Gary Adkins officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, she was the daughter of Phillip Daniel and Donna Gail Laney Sexton. Miss Sexton was employed at Petro Express. She was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and attended York Technical College.

Surviving in addition to her parents are her son, Justin Daniel Sexton of the home; her brother, Jonathan Daniel "J.J." Sexton of Rock Hill; and her maternal grandparents, Clarence Jerry and Mildred Thomas Laney.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home, 114 Long St.

Mozelle Wallace

YORK - Mrs. Mozelle Bolick Wallace, 78, of 3862 Biggers Road died Saturday, March 20, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Monday at Blessed Hope Baptist Church in York, with the Rev. Wayne Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Bethany A.R.P. Church Cemetery in Clover.

Mrs. Wallace was a retired textile worker. She was the daughter of the late William Bolick and Fannie Johnson Bolick. She was the widow of Philip H. Stowe and Robert P. Wallace. Mrs. Wallace was a member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Marlene Smith of York; a stepson, Jerry Wallace of York; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the York Funeral Home from 7 to 9 tonight.

Mabel Coates

KERSHAW - Mrs. Mabel Baker Coates, 83, of 3894 Old Georgetown Road died Saturday, March 20, 1999, at Kershaw County Medical Center in Camden.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Oak Ridge Baptist Church, with the Revs. Charles Young and Clarence Dorman officiating. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Baptist Church cemetery.

Mrs. Coates was a native of Kershaw and the daughter of the late William Franklin Baker and Lottie B. Baker. She was a member of the Oak Ridge Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

Surviving is her husband, William Tommy Coates; five sons, William Tommy Coates Jr. of Columbia, Hazel K. Coates, Ronnie Douglas Coates, John Larry Coates and James Val Coates, all of Kershaw; five daughters, Joan C. Johnson, of Cassatt, Betty Holcomb, Shirley Hunter, Annette Faile and Geraldine Truesdale, all of Kershaw; two brothers, Harvey L. Baker of Camden and William F. Baker Jr. of Lugoff; her sister, Myrtle B. Hearon of Kershaw; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Memorials may be made to the Babcock Center, 500 Rivermont Drive, Columbia, SC 29210.

Cauthen Funeral Home of Kershaw is in charge.

Mittie Culp

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Mittie Ruth Lowery Culp, 90, of 1292 Longview Road died Saturday, March 20, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Grandview Memorial Park, with the Rev. Lewis Bozard officiating.

Mrs. Culp was a native of Union. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, where was was part of the United Methodist Women and the Ladies Bible Class for many years. Before retiring, Mrs. Culp worked as a spinner in textiles. Her parents were the late Robert Lee Lowery and Minnie Ruth James Lowery.

Surviving are her husband, Murray Culp; two sons, Robert Gerald Culp and Carroll Eugene Culp, both of Rock Hill; three sisters, Elizabeth Orr of Rock Hill, Frances Ashley of Fort Mill and Gladys Auld of Paduccah, Ky.; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church building fund, 1232 Curtis St., Rock Hill.

Marion Frederick

CHESTER - Mr. Marion Frederick of 1530 Ridgeview Road died Sunday at his home.

Christopher King's Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road, is in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at 1530 Ridgeview Road.
