Viola Earls

BLACKSBURG - Mrs. Viola Earls of 231 Crayton Road died Monday March, 22, 1999, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in Spartanburg.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at White Columns Funeral Home in Blacksburg, with the Rev. Vernon Moore officiating. Burial will be at Clingman Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Earls was the daughter of the late Simon and Zula Hullender Blanton.

Surviving are her husband, Clee Earls; two sons, Alan Earls of Grover, N.C., and Danny Earls of Blacksburg; her daughter, Donna Harrison of Gaffney; two brothers, Tommy Blanton and Charles Blanton, both of Blacksburg; two sisters, Lillie Turner of Rock Hill and Irene Costner of Blacksburg; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at White Columns Funeral Service, and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Spartanburg, c/o Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, 120 Heywood Ave., Suite 300, Spartanburg, SC 29302.

Dewey Fowler

WINNSBORO - Mr. Dewey Devoix Fowler, 93, died Sunday March, 21, 1999.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Stephen Greene Memorial Baptist Church, with the Revs. Taylor Wells and Robert Hopper officiating. Burial will be at First Baptist Church cemetery.

A native of Union County, Mr. Fowler was a son of the late John W. and Hester Bridges Fowler. He was the widower of Pearl Gregory Fowler. He was a retired employee of the S.C. Department of Corrections, a member of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Association and a member of Stephen Greene Memorial Baptist Church.

Surviving are his son, Roger "Top" L. Fowler Sr. of Winnsboro; his daughter, Sarah F. Cook of Winnsboro; three brothers, Paul K. Fowler of Winnsboro, Charles W. Fowler of Rock Hill and John D. Fowler of Gastonia, N.C.; three sisters, Vera F. Samole of Gastonia and Clara F. Johnson and Nelle F. Hackey, both of Chester; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pope Funeral Home is in charge.

Marion Frederick

CHESTER - Mr. Marion Frederick of 1530 Ridgeview Road died Sunday, March 22, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Unity Baptist Church, with the Revs. Warl Stringfellow officiating and the Rev. Robert McClurkin, James Williams, Olive Royal and William Starworth assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Mae Bell Crank Frederick; his son, Robert Frederick of New York; his daughter, Phyllis Corprew of Chester; seven brothers, Magnolia Frederick of Florida, Cephas Frederick of California, Haze Frederick of North Carolina, and Elbert Frederick, David Frederick, Charlie Frederick and Robert Frederick, all of Chester; six sisters, Hellen Mitchell of California, Qvesester Morrison and Lorie Broderick, both of New York, Lucille Terrell and Florence Howard, both of Philadelphia and Doris G. Wright of Chester; and his granddaughter whom he reared, Gail Young.

The body may be viewed from 1 to 8:30 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Christopher King's Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road.

The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

The family will receive friends at 1530 Ridgeview Road.

Thelma Harper

LANCASTER - Mrs. Thelma Corcoran Harper, 87, of Lancaster, formerly of Randolph, N.Y., died Monday at Frans Residential Care.

Services will be held at a later date.

A native of Marilla, N.Y., Mrs. Harper was the daughter of the late James Joseph Corcoran and Harriett May Carpenter Corcoran. She was retired as a public school teacher in Little Valley, N.Y.

Surviving are two sons, Robert C. Harper of Oreland, Pa., and James E. Harper of Cheshire, Conn.; her daughter, Helen H. Riek of Bethune; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Reba Hayes

FORT MILL - Mrs. Reba Sue Fillers Hayes, 61, of Doby Court, died Monday, March 22, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Doby's Bridge Presbyterian Church, with the Revs. Edgar McCall and George Dye officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.

A native of Knoxville, Tenn., Mrs. Hayes was a daughter of Stella Ownby Fillers of Greer and the late Orson Pratt Fillers. She was a 1955 graduate of Greer High School and a graduate of Draughons Business College in Greenville. She was a tax preparer with H&R Block on Charlotte Avenue in Rock Hill. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the widow of Marvin Douglas Hayes.

Surviving in addition to her mother are three sons, Randy Douglas Hayes of Rock Hill, William Andrew Hayes of Berkeley, Calif., and Jeffrey Scott Hayes of Indian Land; her brother, Carl Orson Fillers of Greer; her sister, Patsy Fillers Atkins of San Antonio, Texas; and her grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, P.O. Box 97100, Dallas, Texas 75397 or to the charity of one's choice.

Adam Jackson

FORT MILL - Mr. Adam Byrnes Jackson, 16, of 515 Forest Ridge Drive died Monday, March 22, 1999.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. John Caruso officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens in Greenwood.

Mr. Jackson was a junior at Fort Mill High School, where he was a member of the drama club. He had a role in a Fort Mill Community Playhouse production.

Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis "Buddy" Jackson Jr. of the home; his brother, Matthew Cody Jackson of the home; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Dempsey of Greer; his maternal grandmother, Cleo Rice of Greenwood.

The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to the Adam Jackson Memorial Fund c/o Wolfe Funeral Home, 314 Spratt St., Fort Mill, SC 29715.

Willie Ann Moffatt

BALTIMORE - Mrs. Willie Ann Morrison Moffatt of 1126 Boone St., formerly of Rock Hill, died Wednesday, March 17, 1999, at John Hopkins Hospital.

The funeral will be noon today at March Funeral Home, North Avenue, Baltimore.

Surviving are her husband, Horace W. Moffatt; four sons, Artez Moffatt of Baltimore and Horace W. Moffatt Jr., Derrick Moffatt and Jeffrey Moffatt, all of Rock Hill; and her sister, Lula Mae White of Maryland.
