Minnie Bramlette

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Minnie Taylor Bramlette, 94, of 1800 India Hook Road died Thursday, March 18, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The graveside service will be 11 a.m. at Grandview Memorial Park, with the Rev. Lewis Vehaun officiating.

A native of Pageland, Mrs. Bramlette was a daughter of the late James and Harriet Pigg Taylor. Mrs. Bramlette was the widow of Thomas N. Bramlette Sr. She graduated from Limestone College in 1931 and taught elementary school in the Greenville school districts. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Greenville.

Surviving are her son, Thomas N. Bramlette Jr. of Greenville; her stepdaughter, Juanita Paul of Tryon, N.C.; and two sisters, Barbara Lane of Fort Mill and Bessie Jordan of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends after the service and at other times at the home of Betty Garrison, 1049 McDow Drive, Rock Hill.

Greene Funeral Home is in charge.

Raymond Chappelear

LANCASTER - Mr. Raymond Henry Chappelear, 78, of 1419 Williams Estate Drive died Thursday, March 18, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Temple Baptist Church, with the Revs. W.C. Wallace and Curtis Cameron officiating. Burial will be at Westside Cemetery.

A native of Anderson, Mr. Chappelear was a son of the late Fred Percell and Maudie Halbrook Chappelear. He was the widower of Louvenia Carnes Chappelear. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and was a retired employee of Springs Industries.

Surviving are his daughter, Ann Duncan of Lancaster; two sons, Roy D. Chappelear of Lancaster and Ray H. Chappelear of Great Falls; two sisters, Freddie Mae Chappelear and Doris Swilling, both of Lancaster; his brother, Fred Chappelear of Fort Mill; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home and at other times at the home Ann Duncan, 2086 John Everall Road, Lancaster.

Elizabeth McCoy

PINEVILLE, N.C. - Mrs. Elizabeth Courtney McCoy, 58, of 426 Park Ave., formerly of Rock Hill, died Wednesday, March 17, 1999, at Mercy Hospital South.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Stough Memorial Baptist Church, with the Rev. J. Grady Faulk officiating. Burial will be at Flint Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Fort Mill.

A native of York, Mrs. McCoy was a daughter of the late Carl and Blanch Tucker Courtney. Mrs. McCoy was a graduate of Rock Hill High School class of 1958. She was a homemaker and worked several years as a nurse at York General Hospital. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was active with the Rock Hill Chapter of Al Anon.

Surviving are her husband, Donald Mitchell McCoy; two daughters, Debra Tickel of White Lake and Cheryle Long of Mint Hill, N.C.; three sons, Michael McCoy and Alan McCoy, both of Pineville, and Wesley Scott McCoy of Rock Hill; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Bass Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Georgia Pobi

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Mrs. Georgia Anne Pobi, 51, of Brooklyn, formerly of Chester County, died Friday, March 12, 1999, at University Hospital in Brooklyn.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Gethsemane Baptist Church cemetery, with the Rev. E.E. Vance officiating.

Mrs. Pobi was a native of Chester County. She was an administrator of Clinical International Training Co. and was a former member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Baltimore.

Surviving are her mother, Anne Mae Moffatt of Brooklyn; and two sisters, Yvonne Calder of Virginia Beach, Va., and Janis Calvert of Hawaii.

The family will receive friends at Denton Funeral Home.

John Shackelford

ROCK HILL - Mr. John C. Shackelford, 64, of 3416 Passmore Drive died Wednesday, March 17, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Lesslie Freewill Baptist Church, with the Rev. George Brasington officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.

A native of Blacksburg, Mr. Shackelford was a son of the late Isaac and Daisy LaCount Shackelford. He was retired from Allied Systems Trucking Co. He was a member of Harley's Owners Group, American Legion Post 34, and a past commander of a Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Florida. He was a former pilot and member of the Safari Flying Club in Florida. He was an U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife, Flora Valencuela Shackelford; his son, Robert Shackelford of Rock Hill; five daughters, Lisa Huggins and Sharon Kozemczak, both of St. Louis, Deborah Pressley of Indian Land, and Elaine Armour and Carmen Shackelford, both of Rock Hill; his brother, Joe Shackelford of Rock Hill; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Sam Tobias

Mr. Sam Tobias, formerly of York, died Sunday, March 14, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Northwest Funeral Home in Charlotte.

Surviving are his son, Lewis Byers of Rock Hill; two brothers, James McNeal of Rock Hill and Willie David McNeal of Bessemer City, N.C.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. today at Northwest Funeral Home.

Robinson Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Lillie Williams

READING, Pa. - Mrs. Lillie Mae Land Williams, 81, formerly of the Leeds Community of Chester County, died Friday, March 12, 1999, at Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Leeds Community, with the Rev. Oliver Royal officiating. The Rev. Moses Lightner will give the eulogy. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Williams was a Chester native and attended Chester County public schools. A homemaker, she was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and attended St. John's Baptist Church in Reading, where she was a choir member.

Surviving are her daughter, Wilette Wilson of New York; her sister, Bernice Watson of New York; her nephew whom she reared, Johnny Mack Halsey of Mohrsville, Pa.; four nieces whom she reared, Sarah "Sue" Halsey and Ola Mae Smith, both of Carlisle, and Sarah Johnson and Willie Mae Halsey, both of Chester; four grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends at the home of Sarah "Sue" Halsey, 3614 Woodsferry Road, Leeds Community.

The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. today.

King's Funeral Home is in charge.
