Carrie Wylie

CHESTER - Ms. Carrie Bell Wylie, 44, of 758 Ward Drive died Wednesday, March 17, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Red Hill Baptist Church in Woodward, with the Rev. Ellis officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Ms. Wylie was a native of Fairfield County. She was a homemaker and a member of Red Hill Baptist Church. She attended Chester County schools.

Surviving are her mother, Arlie W. Ward of the home; five brothers, the Rev. Samuel Wylie of Philadelphia, the Rev. James Wylie of Blackstock, John Wylie and Tommy Wylie, both of Charlotte, and Willie Jones of Chester; and two sisters, Carol W. Reed and Virginia Ward, both of Chester.

The family will receive friends at home.

The body will be taken to the church at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Denton Funeral Home is in charge.

Beulah Hollins

KERSHAW - Mrs. Beulah Egeva Davis Hollins, 88, of 6401 North Matson St. died Friday, March 19, 1999, at Springdale Village in Camden.

The graveside service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Kershaw City Cemetery, with the Revs. Robert Eubanks and Archie Neal officiating.

Mrs. Hollins was a daughter of the late Henry Huffman and Mary Christine McLaurin Davis. She was the widow of John William Hollins. Retired from Springs Industries, she was a member of Second Baptist Church.

Surviving are her son, the Rev. William J. "Bill" Hollins of Kershaw; her sister, Hazel Lee Davis Parker of Kershaw; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of the Rev. and Mrs. William J. "Bill" Hollins, 135 Blackmon St., Kershaw.

Memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church building fund, 7737 Kershaw-Camden Highway, Kershaw, SC 29067.

Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.

Elizabeth Simpson

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Elizabeth Truesdale Simpson, 92, died Thursday, March 18, 1999, at White Oak Manor.

The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at St. John's United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Tim McClendon officiating. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery.

A native of Anderson, Mrs. Simpson was the daughter of the late Dr. Robert S. Truesdale, who was one of the first ministers at St. John's United Methodist Church, and Bessie Arail Truesdale. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. A homemaker, she attended Chicora College and Furman University.

Surviving are two sons, Robert T. Simpson of Durham, N.C., and William R. Simpson III of Rock Hill; her sister, Bobbie Gene Ogburn of Greensboro, N.C.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bass Funeral Home and at other times at the home of William R. Simpson III, 3087 Neely Store Road, Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Lottie Melton

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Lottie Mozelle Revels Melton, 77, formerly of Chester, died Thursday, March 18, 1999, at White Oak Manor.

The funeral will be private.

A native of Chester, Mrs. Melton was a daughter of the late Madison Revels and Cynthia Ida Dunn Revels. She was the widow of Wilton Melton. Mrs. Melton was a former employee of Springs Industries and was a patient sitter. She attended the Chester County Schools.

Surviving are her nephew, Walter A. Revels of Chester; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Barron Funeral Home is in charge.

Georgia Pobi

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Mrs. Georgia Anne Pobi, 51, of Brooklyn, formerly of Chester County, died Friday, March 12, 1999, at University Hospital in Brooklyn.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Gethsemane Baptist Church cemetery, with the Rev. E.E. Vance officiating.

Mrs. Pobi was a native of Chester County. She was an administrator of Clinical International Training Co. and was a former member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Baltimore.

Surviving are her husband, Alex Pobi; her mother, Anne Mae Moffatt of Brooklyn; her father, James W. Moffatt of Rock Hill; and two sisters, Yvonne Calder of Virginia Beach, Va., and Janis Carver of Honolulu, Hawaii.

The family will receive friends at Denton Funeral Home.

Shirley Price

CHESTER - Mrs. Shirley Lackey Price, 80, of 1723 Hall Road died Thursday, March 18, 1999, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Uriel Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. David Stover and the Rev. David Riddle officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Cleveland County, N.C., Mrs. Price was a daughter of the late Thomas Guy and Nora Moss Lackey. She was a graduate of Cleveland County High School. She was retired from Springs Industries and was a beautician in Cleveland County for many years. She was a member of Uriel Presbyterian Church, where she belonged to the Women of the Church. She was the widow of Paul Price.

Surviving are her son, Carl Price of Harrisburg, N.C.; two daughters, Shirley Walker of Chester and Karen Roof of Columbia; two brothers, T.G. Lackey Jr. of Cherryville, N.C., and Kermit Lackey of Lincolnton, N.C.; her sister, Kathleen Gantt of Vale, N.C.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

William Shillinglaw Jr.

YORK - Mr. William Clarence Shillinglaw Jr., 66, of 14 Bratton Ave. died Friday, March 19, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Todd Speed officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.

A native of York, Mr. Shillinglaw was a son of the late William Clarence Shillinglaw Sr. and Mammie Louise Parrish Shillinglaw. He attended York public schools and graduated from Presbyterian College in 1954. He served in the Air Force and graduated first in his pilot training class. He served as a bomber pilot with the Strategic Air Command and resigned in 1958 as a captain. He worked a Southern Airways, Beaunit Textile Corp., El Paso Products and Rexene Lab Inc., where he retired in 1989 as director of computer services.

He was a deacon at First Presbyterian Church of York. While living in Odessa, Texas, he was a Rotarian, a deputy in the Ector County Sheriff's Reserve, rising to the rank of sergeant. He served as an elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Odessa.

Surviving are his wife, Alice Templeton Shillinglaw; two sons,

William Clarence Shillinglaw III of Rock Hill and Scott Donnan Shillinglaw of Charlotte; and his daughter, Lisa Shillinglaw Evans of York.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at York Funeral Home.
