Samuel Timms

ANDERSON - Mr. Samuel Augustus Timms, 83, of 406 Rogers St. died Thursday, Feb. 26, 1998, at Anderson Area Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at McDuffie Street Church of God, with the Rev. Jerry Rice officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Mr. Timms was a self-employed small engine repairman, a former employee of Equinox Mill and was a member of McDuffie Street Church of God where he was a bus driver and usher.

Surviving are his wife, Colleen Davis Timms; two sons, Rodney Timms of Fort Mill and Marshall Timms of Iva; three daughters, Katy Helms of Waxhaw, N.C., Mary Rowland of Anderson and Patsy Wilson of Fort Mill; his sister, Inez Whitten of Calhoun Falls; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. today.

The family is at the home.

McDougald Funeral Home is in charge.

Timothy Williams

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Mr. Timothy J. Williams, 39, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 1998, of lung cancer at his home.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Ann's Episcopal Church, 419 Woodland St., Nashville. Entombment will be at the the church.

Surviving are his companion, Jeff Burch of Nashville; his mother, Nelle Williams of York; two brothers, Sam Williams and Dean Williams, both of York; three sisters, Fran Broome of Wilmington, N.C., Joyce Adkins of York and Jane Kimbrell of Rock Hill.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service. A reception will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Ann's Episcopal Church, 419 Woodland St., Nashville, TN 37206.

Cole & Garrett Funeral Home in Hendersonville is in charge.

Larry Cornwell

CHARLOTTE - Mr. Larry Elliott Cornwell, 46, of 6125 Wilkinson Blvd., formerly of Sharon, died Wednesday, March 10, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Luke No. 1 Baptist Church in Sharon, with the Rev. A.A. Bankhead officiating and the Rev. Tony Dogan assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Cornwell was a native of Sharon. He was a heating and air mechanic for Mechanical Contractors Inc. in Charlotte. He attended Green Bethel School and graduated from Crest High School in Cleveland County, N.C. He served in the U.S. Air Force for six years. He joined St. Luke No. 1 Baptist Church at an early age.

Surviving are his parents, Ensley and Bertha Wade Cornwell of Sharon; four brothers, Ensley Cornwell Jr., Howard Cornwell and Charles Cornwell, all of Sharon, and Michael Cornwell of Charlotte; four sisters, Linda Dixon of Fort Mill, Brenda Roberts of Sharon, Rose Cornwell of McConnells and Phyllis Cornwell of York; his maternal grandmother, Annie Bell Wade of Sharon; and his paternal grandmother, Willie Lee Cornwell of Chester.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 7:30 tonight at Wright Funeral Home in York and at other times at the home parents, 1890 N. Burris Road, Sharon.

Rondell Croxton Sr.

HEATH SPRINGS - Mr. Rondell Neal Croxton Sr., 63, died Friday, March 12, 1999, at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Columbia.

The funeral will be 3 pm. Sunday at Oakhurst Baptist Church, with the Revs. Bobby Wallace and John Rogers officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Croxton was the son of the late Hayes B. Croxton and Laura N. Croxton Clark. He was a member of Oakhurst Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War.

Surviving are his son, Rondell N. Croxton Jr. of Lancaster; two daughters, Barbara Owens and Lisa Mitchell, both of Lancaster; his brother, Joe H. Croxton of Lancaster; his sister, Kathryn White of Lancaster; and eight grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his sister Kathryn White, 734 N. Plantation Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.

Memorials may be made to Oakhurst Baptist Church, 394 Barrett Road, Heath Springs, SC 29058.

Johnnie Featherstone

CHESTER - Miss Johnnie L. Featherstone of 131 Pine St. Extension died Thursday, March 11, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Monday at Metropolitan AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Cordell Jenkins officiating and the Revs. Dr. C.A. Glenn and Sharon Jenkins assisting. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Miss Featherstone was a Chester native. She was educated in the public schools of Chester County. She was a graduate of Barber-Scotia College with a degree in home economics and from A&T State University with a master's in education.

She was a home economics educator in the Chester County school district for 33 years. She was a life member of the National Education Association and a member of the South Carolina Education Association, the Chester County Education Association, the State Retired Teacher's Association, and the Vocational Education Association. She was a member of the NAACP, the Chester County senior adult fitness program and games, and was a co-chairwoman of the Senior Citizen Honor Flag Line. She also was a member of the Chester alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Magna Klumba and poll manager of Ward 4 for a number of years.

She was a member of the Metropolitan AME Zion Church, where she served as trustee, deaconess, Sunday school and Bible teacher, member of the senior choir and life matron of the Women's Home and Overseas Missionary Society.

Surviving are her sister, Henrietta F. Williams of Newport News, Va.; her niece, Sharon W. Peterson of Chester; her grandnephew, Johnny "Pedee" Peterson Jr. of Chester; her grandniece, Anitra Peterson of Chester; and her great-grandnephew, Brandon Peterson of Chester, all of whom she reared.

The family will receive friends at the home of Sharon Peterson, 119 Ella St., Chester.

The body will be taken to the church at 3 p.m. Monday. The body may be viewed from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St.

Donald Hofer

ROCK HILL - Mr. Donald B. Hofer, 71, died Thursday, March 11, 1999, after a short illness.

A private service will be held for family members only. Internment will be held at his birthplace of Pittsburgh in the Hill Cemetery of Export Pennsylvania.

Mr. Hofer served for almost 30 years as vice president for Household Finance and Aristar. After his retirement from the financial world, he obtained his South Carolina contractor's license and embarked on his second career as a local contractor for almost 18 years.

Mr. Hofer was a 32nd degree mason and a member of the Masonic Lodge, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII and in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Carroll; his son, Donald L. Hofer; two daughters, Andrea C. Hofer and Angelique M. Hofer; and his brother, George A. Hofer of Savannah, Ga.

Parker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Chandler Kellin

ROCK HILL - Chandler Mahlon Kellin, the infant son of David and Pam Pitmon Kellin of 3215 Bratton Drive, died Wednesday, March 10, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. today at Oakwood Acres Baptist Church, with the Rev. Rick Sturgis officiating.

Surviving in addition to his parents are two sisters, Stephanie Cooper of the home and Alicia Cooper of Rock Hill; his paternal grandmother, Ruth Smith of Manchester, Tenn.; his paternal grandfather, David M. Kellin and wife, Karie Kellin, both of Kerville, Texas.

Bass Funeral Home is in charge.

Coit Norwood

ROCK HILL - Mr. Coit Lamar Norwood, 91, of 1623 Phelps St. died Thursday, March 11, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Baptist Church, with the Revs. Calvin Morrow and Jerry McNair officiating. Entombment will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Gaston Memorial Park Mausoleum in Gastonia, N.C.

A native of Lincoln County, N.C., Mr. Norwood was the son of the late William A. and Effie Dellinger Norwood. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a retired slasher tender in the textile industry.

Surviving are his wife, Annie Ruth Brown Norwood; and his sister, Addie Mae Hallman of Lincolnton, N.C.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
