Jean Hall

FORT MILL - Mrs. Jean Harris Hall, 72, of 8695 Charlotte Highway died Sunday, March 14, 1999, at Mercy Hospital South in Pineville, N.C.

The funeral will be private.

Mrs. Hall was a New Jersey native. She was the widow of Herbert Hall and a homemaker. She was the daughter of the late Grant and Gladys Hall.

Surviving are her son, David Herbert Hall of Fort Mill; two daughters, Mary Kimbrell and Pamela Long of Fort Mill; her brother, Elsworth Harris of Pompton Lakes, N.J.; her sister, Barbara Bumgarner of Rock Hill; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Wolfe Funeral Home in Fort Mill and at other times at the home of Mary and Karl Kimbrell, 8715 Charlotte Highway.

Neva Hannon

FORT MILL - Mrs. Neva Belle Taylor Hannon, 94, of 125 Spratt St. died Sunday, March 14, 1999, at the home of her son.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's United Methodist Church, with Dr. Robert Monson and the Rev. Joe Tysinger officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.

Mrs. Hannon was an Oconee County native and was the daughter of the late Fred Stanley and Rebecca Cora Taylor. She was the widow of Arrie Elmer Hannon, who died in 1995. Mrs. Hannon had lived on Spratt Street since since 1938 and was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. She retired from Springs Industries and was a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are her son, Billie A. Hannon of Fort Mill; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Billie and Glenn Hannon, 1680 Crescent Ridge Road.

Memorials may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church building fund, P.O. Box 1298, Fort Mill, SC 29716 or to Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Leonard Harris

BLACKSBURG - Mr. Leonard B. Harris of 1352 W. Cherokee St. died Sunday, March 14, 1999, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Garden Temple Assembly of God, with the Rev. David Nichols, Mr. Wendell Harris and Mr. Alphaeus L. Harris officiating. Burial will be at Clingman Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Harris was a native of Cherokee County. He was the son of the late Joe Harris and Ora Martin Harris McDaniel. He was the owner of Harris Auto Parts and was a charter member of Garden Temple Assembly of God. He was instrumental in the Garden Lakes development in Blacksburg and taught Bible classes for Cherokee County senior citizens.

Surviving are his wife, Lucille Patterson Harris; two sons, Alphaeus L. Harris of Miami and J. Wendell Harris of Cleveland; two daughters, Phyllis H. Sutton of Rock Hill and Myra H. Goforth of High Shoals, N.C.; two sisters, Iva Lee McDaniel and Edna White, both of Blacksburg; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at White Columns Funeral Service and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 1886, Gaffney, SC 29342.

White Columns Funeral Service of Blacksburg is in charge.

Emma Pittman

HEATH SPRINGS - Mrs. Emma Byrd Robinson Pittman, 91, of Gaston Street died Sunday, March 14, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hartley Funeral Home, with the Revs. Warren Johnson and Robert Tilley officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

Mrs. Pittman was a Kershaw County native. She was the daughter of Ernest Jackson Byrd and Beulah Catoe Byrd. She worked many years with Millers Cafeteria and Lancaster Laundry. She was a member of Heath Springs Baptist Church and a former member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Otis Pittman of the home; two sons, Ernest "Rocky" Robinson and James "Jim" Robinson, both of Lancaster; two daughters, Peggy Sigmon and Jean Player, both of Lancaster; two brothers, Hilliard Byrd of Pelham and David Byrd of Mount Pisgah; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Heath Springs Baptist Church, 101 S. Main St., Heath Springs, SC 29058 or Immanuel Baptist Church, 1152 Great Falls Highway, Lancaster, SC 29720.

The family will be at the home of Jean Player Phillips, 404 N. Main St., Lancaster.

Marshall Ragsdale

ROCK HILL - Mr. Marshall Ragsdale, 65, of 1249 Soulsville St. died Sunday, March 14, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Nazareth Baptist Church, with the Rev. J.H. Bailey officiating and the Rev. Dr. John T. McCoy and the Rev. Sidney Murdock assisting. The Rev. George Lowry will give the eulogy. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Ragsdale was a native of York County. He attended public schools of York County. He was a member of Nazareth Baptist Church. He was employed at Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co. for more than 20 years. He was a former Elk and Mason.

Surviving are his wife, Maglene Dewese Ragsdale; three daughters, Marion R. Love and Carolyn R. Hall, both of Rock Hill, and Jacqueline R. Bratton of Arlington, Texas; two sons, Danny R. Ragsdale of Rock Hill and Marshall Ragsdale Jr.; his sister, Mable R. Phifer of Temple Hill, Md.; eight grandchildren and his great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Robinson Funeral Home and at other times at home.

The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Thursday.

Betty Roach

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Betty Elizabeth Roach, 72, of 836 Midvale Ave. died Saturday, March 13, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Grandview Memorial Park, with the Rev. Carl Huston officiating.

Mrs. Roach was a York County native and was the daughter of the late Reece Workman and Irene Ferrell Workman. She was the widow of E.J. Roach. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist Faith.

Surviving are two sons, Bobby Roach and Kenny Roach, both of Rock Hill; two daughters, Cathy Hollis of York and Vickie Collins of Fort Mill; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight and at other times at the home.

Bass Funeral Home is in charge.

Viola Stebbins

ROCK HILL - Ms. Viola Grace Stebbins, 81, of 3067 Pinetuck Lane died Sunday, March 14, 1999, at Ebenezer Nursing Home.

The funeral will be 3:30 p.m. today at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Hogg officiating. Burial will be at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens.

Ms. Stebbins was a member of First Baptist Church and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Commack, N.Y.

Surviving are two sons, John Stebbins of Newport, Mass., and Andy Stebbins Sr. of Rock Hill; and 10 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at 1:30 p.m. today at Cauthen Funeral Home.
