Michael Heath Sr.

FORT LAWN - Mr. Michael Heath Sr., 46, of 5964 Hightower Road died Saturday, March 6, 1999.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Union Ezell AME Zion Church, with the Rev. William N. Long officiating. Burial will be at Fort Lawn Cemetery.

Mr. Heath was an employee of the South Carolina State Fair. He was a member of Union Ezell AME Zion Church.

Surviving are his wife, Alice R. Heath; his son, Michael Heath Jr. of the home; his daughter, Cammie M. Heath of the home; his parents, Max and Jesse Heath of Fort Lawn; two brothers, Calvin Heath of Columbia and Alfonso Heath of Fort Lawn; and four sisters, Shirley Judge, Myrtle Heath, Linda Howze and Mary Artis, all of Fort Lawn.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Union Ezell AME Zion Church.

The body may be viewed from 9 a.m. to noon Friday at McMullen Funeral Home in Lancaster and will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Friday.

Ruth Hunter

KERSHAW - Mrs. Ruth Roberts Hunter, 90, of 413 W. Church St. died Tuesday, March, 9, 1999, at Lancaster Convalescent Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Cauthen Funeral Home. Burial will be at Buffalo Baptist Church.

A native of Kershaw, Mrs. Hunter was the daughter of the late Robert Nelson and Nannie Gardner Roberts. A homemaker, she was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church and was the widow of William Ernest Hunter.

Surviving are six sons, William Earl Hunter of Duluth, Minn., the Rev. Carl Hunter of Franklinton, N.C., and Ira B. Hunter, James R. Hunter, Jack N. Hunter and Thomas H. Hunter, all of Kershaw; four daughters, Barbara Carnes of Lancaster, and Almetta H. Estridge, Pauline Taylor and Sue Humphries, all of Kershaw; three sisters, Eula Hunter of Heath Springs, and Mattie Catoe and Mollie Truesdale, both of Kershaw; 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a number of great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Bobby Hunter, 6090 Gold Mine Highway, Kershaw.

Memorials may be made to Buffalo-Mount Pisgah Rescue Squad, 2099 John Munn Road, Jefferson, SC 29718.

William Jenkins Sr.

TAMPA, Fla. - Mr. William Ervin Jenkins Sr., 70, of 1 East Palm Circle, Placid, Fla., died Monday, March 8, 1999, at Tampa General Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Hartley Funeral Home, with the Revs. Joey Burnette and Keith McManus officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Jenkins was the son of Mary "Jack" Mobley Jenkins and the late Mr. William Perry Jenkins. He retired from Lotspiech Co. as a construction general superintendent. Mr. Jenkins was a member of Edison Masonic Lodge No. 298 in Florida and a member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Placid.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Doris Rowell Jenkins; two sons, W.E. "Billy" Jenkins of Lancaster and Lewis Hiriam Jenkins of Denver; his brother, Perry Jenkins of Lancaster; his sister, Marian McManus of Sumter; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hartley Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Billy Jenkins, 4230 Jenkins Hill Road, Lancaster.

Vandosta Tabb II

CHARLOTTE - Mr. Vandosta L. Tabb II, 36, of Charleston Place Lane, formerly of Chester, died Saturday, March 6, 1999, in Concord, N.C.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. today at St. Paul Baptist Church.

Mr. Tabb was a native of Chester and attended Chester County public schools. He graduated from Breckenridge Academy in Tennessee and was a maintenance supervisor at a Concord, N.C., apartment complex.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara J. Tabb of Mooresville, N.C.; his son, Vandosta L. Tabb III of Mooresville, N.C.; his father, Lt. Col. Vandosta L. Tabb of Georgia; his mother, Julie Spann Tabb of Charlotte; and his brother, Andrew Tabb of Charlotte.

Gore's Funeral Home in Chester is in charge of local arrangements.

Clarence Tate

ROCK HILL - Mr. Clarence Allen Tate, 79, of 130 Shurley St. died Monday, March 8, 1999, at home.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Grandview Memorial Park, with the Revs. Phillip Nodine and Forrest Musselman officiating.

A native of Blaine, Miss., Mr. Tate was the son of the late Robert L. and Nina Biddy Tate. He was a member of Christian Fellowship Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. He retired from Jones & Lockland Steel Co. of East Chicago, Ind., after 34 years service.

Surviving are his wife, Pearl Sweatt Tate; his daughter, Rebecca T. McFadden of Pittsburg, Kan.; his adopted son, James Tate of Lansing, Ill.; his stepson, Steve Railey of Merced, Calif.; three brothers, Robert Tate of Arcata, Calif., Harold Tate of Birmingham, Ala., and Andrew B. Tate of Rochester, Ill.; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Nancy Valentine

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Nancy Letha Tilley Valentine, 99, formerly of McConnells, died Monday, March 8, 1999, at Beverly Health Care.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. today at Oakwood Municipal Cemetery in High Point, N.C.

A native of High Point, N.C., Mrs. Valentine was a homemaker. She was a member of Green Street Baptist Church in High Point.

Surviving are her son, Grayson R. Davis of High Point; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. today at Cumby Mortuary in High Point.

York Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Viola Archie

CHESTER - Mrs. Viola Archie died Monday, March 8, 1999, at White Oak Manor nursing home in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church in Wilksburg Community, with Pastor Curtis Washington officiating. Burial will be at Gore's Cemetery in Wilksburg.

Surviving is her sister, Evelyn Sanders of New York.

The family will receive friends at the home of her son-in-law, Tommie Gore, 3054 Pinckney Road.

The body may be viewed from 1 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Christopher King's Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road. The body will lie in state from 2 to 3 p.m. at Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church.

E.P. Alderman

HIGH POINT, N.C. - Mr. Everette Pierce Alderman, 91, formerly of 215 Williford Court, died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, at Sunrise Care and Rehabilitation for the Triad.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Cumby Funeral Home, Eastchester Drive, with the Rev. George C. Carpenter officiating. Burial will be at Floral Garden Park Cemetery.

A native of Wythe County, Va., Mr. Alderman was the son of the late Pierce Burton and Nora Chrisley Alderman. He was a retired employee of Burlington Industries. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World Lodge No. 62 and Crestwood Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his wife, Fannie Lyerly Alderman; two daughters, Helen Houston of York and Jean Emerson of Greensboro, N.C.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Cumby Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his daughter, 2616 Norwood Drive, Greensboro.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 111 D Pomona Drive, Greensboro, NC 27407.

Julia Bruns

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Julia Ann Mazar Bruns, 77, of 1330 India Hook Road died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday at St. Anne Catholic Church. Burial will be at Venice Memorial Gardens in Venice, Fla.

A native of Hungary, Mrs. Bruns was the daughter of the late Joseph and Julia Urban Mazar. She was the widow of Sylvester L. Bruns.

Surviving are her daughter, Linda Farragher of Rock Hill; her brother, Paul Mazar of Venice, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the home of Tom and Linda Farragher, 2172 Olde Creek Road, Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, 2711 Middleburg Drive, Kittrell Center, Suite 205, Columbia, SC 29204 or to St. Anne Catholic Church, 1694 Bird St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.
