Edith Begemann

SALUDA - Mrs. Edith Plunkett Begemann, 73, of Route 5, Andrew Coleman Road, died Sunday, March 7, 1999, at Providence Hospital in Columbia.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Zoar United Methodist Church. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Saluda County, Mrs. Begemann was the daughter of the late Gilson Y "Giltz" and Mary Louisa Herlong Plunkett. She was raised in the home of the late Daniel and Annie Plunkett. Mrs. Begemann was a former secretary with the Federal Probation Office. She also was a former schoolteacher and taught at Winyah High and Bynum Elementary Schools in Georgetown County.

She attended Anderson College and was a graduate of Winthrop College with a degree in business education. She was a member of Zoar United Methodist Church. She worked with the United Methodist Church Conference and was a leader of the Born Free, Stay Free drug program. She was a member of Emmaus of the Midlands.

Surviving are her husband, E.H. "Bill" Begemann; two daughters, Marianne B. Smith of Waynesville, Mo., and Danette Begemann of Ninety Six; two sisters, Charity Plunkett and Mary Elizabeth Long, both of Saluda; and her grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Epworth Children's Home, P.O. Box 50466, Columbia, SC 29250 or to Zoar United Methodist Church, Route 1, Box 460, Saluda, SC 29138.

Carl Boyd

ROCK HILL - Mr. Carl Grady Boyd, 89, formerly of Oak Street in Fort Mill, died Monday, March 8, 1999, at Eden Gardens.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Unity Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. Robert Monson and the Rev. Joe Tysinger officiating.

A native of York County, Mr. Boyd was the son of the late John Hope and Susan Ferguson Boyd. He was the former owner and operator of Boyd Furniture Sales Co. in Pineville, N.C. He was a lifetime member of the Catawba Masonic Lodge No. 56 and Optimist International. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church and the Men's Bible class. He was the widower of Selma Hackney Boyd.

Surviving are two brothers, Marshall W. Boyd of Warrenton, Va., and Herbert R. Boyd of Rock Hill; and his sister, Mary B. Bell of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home.

Jackie Garrett

YORK - Mr. Jackie Ted Garrett, 64, of 218 Charlotte St. died Sunday, March 7, 1999, in Honea Path.

Arrangements will be announced by Greene Funeral Home.

Graham Hamrick Jr.

ATLANTA - Mr. Graham Hamrick Jr., 66, of 624 McDonald St., S.E., died Sunday, March 7, 1999, at Veterans Administration Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cherryville Funeral Home in Cherryville, N.C., with the Revs. Barry Goodman and Herman Simpson officiating. Burial will be at Faith Baptist Church cemetery in Shelby, N.C.

A native of Cleveland County, Mr. Hamrick was the son of the late Graham Hamrick Sr. and Rose Lee Thomas Hamrick. He was a retired truck driver and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Zoar Baptist Church of Shelby.

Surviving are his daughter, Patricia Lail of Shelby; two brothers, Robert Hamrick of Shelby and Arthur Dennis Hamrick of Polkville, N.C.; seven sisters, Faye Mullinax of Gaffney, Louise Wray of Earl, N.C., Bessie Goins of Cherryville, Ellen Quinn and Margaret Martin, both of Rock Hill, Mildred Williams of Charlotte and Hilda Elliott of Polkville, N.C.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cherryville Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Bess Goins, 109 Pine Ave., Cherryville, N.C., or Patricia Lail, 1662 Fallston Road, Shelby, N.C.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County at Wendover, 953 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150 or to Faith Baptist Church, 2738 S. Post Road, Shelby, NC 28152.

Joe Jackson Sr.

LANCASTER - Mr. Joe Donald Jackson Sr., 70, of 1832 New Cut Church Road died Monday, March 8, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Dale Baptist Church, with the Revs. Jack Nunn and Glen Carter officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Jackson was the son of the late Lawrence Glaze Jackson and Connie Mathis Jackson. He was retired from Springs Industries' Katherine Plant in Chester. He was a member of Hart Masonic Lodge No. 380, a Shriner, and a member Pleasant Dale Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Geri Dowdle Jackson; two sons, Joe D. Jackson Jr. and Ned L. Jackson, both of Lancaster; his brother, Bobby Jackson of Lancaster; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Pleasant Dale Baptist Church building fund, 133 Potter Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.

James Jaworsky

YORK - Mr. James Julian Jaworsky, 57, of 530 Bradley Clark Court died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be Saturday at Griffith Funeral Chapel in Norwood, Pa.

A native of Philadelphia, Mr. Jaworsky was the son of the late Alex and Louise Andrews Jaworsky. He was a deli shop owner.

Surviving are two sons, James J. Jaworsky Jr. of Rock Hill and Christopher Jaworsky of Columbia; three daughters, Teresa McHugh and Diana Covanaugh, both of Philadelphia, and Margaret Hall of Lexington.

York Funeral Home is in charge.

Louise Little

MONROE, N.C. - Mrs. Louise Griffin Little, 71, died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at Mercy Hospital in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Crossroads Baptist Church, with the Rev. Lanny Hasty officiating. Burial will be at Union Baptist Church cemetery.

Mrs. Little was a native of Union County and the daughter of the late Lloyd and Dorothy Mullenax Wallace.

Surviving are three sons, Wallace K. Griffin, Earl "Mack" Griffin and Richard Griffin, all of Monroe; two daughters, Sharon G. Smith of Monroe and Teresa G. Lawson of Fort Mill; her brother, John W. Wallace of Monroe, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Charlotte Chapter, 1628 E. Morehead St., Charlotte, NC 28207.

Robert Robinson

YORK - Mr. Robert "Rob" Alexander Robinson, 89, of 209 Blackburn St. died Monday, March 8, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Bible Covenant Community Church, with the Rev. Jeff O'Rouke officiating. Burial will be at Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church cemetery.

A native of York County, Mr. Robinson was the son of Samuel and Maggie Norman Robinson. He was retired from Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co. and a member of Bible Covenant Community Church. He was the widower of Elizabeth Workman Robinson.

Surviving are two sons, Robert Robinson and William Robinson, both of York; three daughters, Sadie R. Hill and Hazel R. Justice, both of York, and Polly Peterson of Blacksburg; two brothers, Sam Robinson of Clover and Glen Robinson of York; five sisters, Ida Bell Porter of Rock Hill, Annie R. Dorrest, Mary R. West and Willie Mae R. Neil, all of York, and Jenny R. Benfield of Sharon; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and his great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at York Funeral Home.
