John Dorman

ROCK HILL - Mr. John Earl Dorman, 54, of 450 Cummings St. died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1998, at his home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bill Shytle officiating. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Dorman was a retired security guard with Weiser Security.

Surviving is his wife, Alice L. Dorman.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home.

Eula Mae McAteer

LANCASTER - Miss Eula Mae McAteer died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1998, at Lancaster Convalescent Center, where she was a resident.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Hartley Funeral Home in Lancaster.

Joan Stokes

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Joan Boyd Stokes, 67, of 1580 Granville Road died Monday, Oct. 19, 1998, at her home.

Burial was 2:15 p.m. today at Neely's Creek A.R.P. Church cemetery. A memorial service was 3 p.m. today at First A.R.P. Church, with the Dr. Robert J. Robinson officiating.

A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Stokes was a graduate of Winthrop College. She was a life member of First A.R.P. Church, a member of the Rock Hill Debutante Club and a sustaining member of the Junior Welfare League. She was a homemaker.

Surviving are her husband, Doug Stokes of Rock Hill; two sons, Douglas Stokes Jr. of Greenville and Mason Boyd Stokes of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; her brother, Mason Boyd of Rock Hill; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to First A.R.P. Church, P.O. Box 3114, Rock Hill, SC 29731; or to Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730; or to the charity of one's choice.

Cauthen Funeral Home, Rock Hill Chapel is in charge.

Viola Cunningham

CHESTER - Mrs. Viola Means Cunningham, 76, of West Palm Beach, Fla., died Monday, Oct. 19, 1998, at Darcy Hall Life Care Center in West Palm Beach.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Old Wilson Baptist Church in Chester, with the Rev. John Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Gladden Grove AME Zion Church Cemetery, Great Falls.

Mrs. Cunningham was a native of Chester. She was a member of Old Wilson Baptist Church and a former member of Gladden Grove AME Zion Church. She was a former employee of Chester Sportswear. She was the widow of Elliott "E.T." Cunningham.

Surviving are her daughter, Frances C. Patterson of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two sons, Richard Cunningham of Chester and John C. Cunningham of Lancaster; her stepson, Elliott Cunningham Jr. of New York; two brothers, Eddie Stradford Sr. of Chester and John Robert Peay of Baltimore; two sisters, Josephine Peay of Rock Hill and Mary Lee Peay of Baltimore; 22 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends at the home of Richard and Ruby Cunningham, 1492 Hinton Road in Chester.

The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. today at King's Funeral Home. The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Edna Lee

SARDIS, Ohio - Edna Irene Lee, 82, of Sardis died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1998, at Wetzel County Hospital in New Martinsville, Va.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Bauer-Turner Funeral Home in Woodsfield, Ohio, with the Rev. Harry Summers officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery, Antioch, Ohio.

Mrs. Lee was a homemaker. She was a member of Woodsfield Church of Christ.

Surviving are four sons, Howard D. Lee Jr. of Barnesville, Ohio, David Lee of York, Larry Lee of Antioch, Ohio, and Danny Lee of Sardis, Ohio; five daughters, Mary Frances Russell of Beverly, Ohio, Joan Deulley of Belpre, Ohio, Betty Jean Hogue of Vienna, W. Va., Ruby Townson of Rock Hill and Nancy Chevalier of Belpre, Ohio; four brothers, Charles Steed of Alabama, Roy Steed of Alliance, Ohio, Jack Steed of Parkersburg, W. Va., and Russell Steed of Alliance, Ohio; her sister, Louise Lewis of Virginia; 22 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today and from 7 to 9 tonight at Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, 100 S. Paul St., Woodsfield, Ohio.

Norman Ledford Sr.

FILBERT - Mr. Norman Ledford Sr., 83, of Filbert died Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Union Baptist Church in York, with the Rev. Alan Price officiating and the Rev. Shannon Duncan assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Ledford was a retired welder. He was a deacon and Sunday school clerk of Union Baptist Church. He was a member of Philanthropic Masonic Lodge No. 32. He served on the U.S.S. Maryland in the Pacific.

Surviving are his wife, Kathryne B. Ledford; his son, Norman Ledford Jr. of York; two daughters, Dorothy L. Roberts of Marshville, N.C., and Shirley L. Moore of Charleston; his brother, the Rev. Buford Ledford of Hayesville, N.C.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Union Baptist Church, 1945 Ratchford Road, York, SC 29745 or Hospice Community Care, 325 Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

York Funeral Home is in charge.

Rilla Rogers

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Mrs. Rilla Drescher Rogers, 78, of 900 Daphia Circle in Newport News, Va., died Oct. 21, 1998, at the Bayside Hospital of Poquoson, Va.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Laurelwood Cemetery in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Lloyd Ballard officiating.

Born in Rock Hill, Mrs. Rogers was the widow of Charles L. Rogers. She was a homemaker.

Surviving are her sister, Irma Wallace of Rock Hill; her grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association of South Carolina, 1817 Gadsen St., Columbia, SC 29201 or a charity of choice.

Greene Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Yancie Adams

LANCASTER - Mr. Yancie Neuman Adams, 79, of 1347 Hershall Plyler Road died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Camp Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. Cecil N. Johnson officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Lancaster, he was the son of the late Benjamin Jefferson and Maurice Trevern Catoe Adams. He was a retired employee of Springs Industries, a World War II Army veteran and a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Louise Thomas Adams; six sons, Charlie Benjamin "Ben" Adams of Floresville, Texas, Carl Davey "Buck" Adams of Jefferson, Michael Wayne Adams and Jackie Randall of Lancaster, Howard "Harry" Adams of Pageland, and Bill Adams of Heath Springs; three daughters, Janice Carol Adams, Rebecca Lynn Robinson and Cynthia Nan Catoe, all of Lancaster; his brother, Thomas Jefferson Adams of Lancaster; five sisters, Jessie Faye Rollins, Eunice Plyler, Alice Steele and Ann Ghent, all of Lancaster, and Dorothy Puco of Great Falls; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Camp Creek Baptist Church, 998 Potter Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
