Nancy Ross

KINGSPORT, Tenn. - Mrs. Nancy Barnard Ross, 81, of 1300 Bloomingdale Pike died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, at Holston Valley Medical Center.

Mrs. Ross was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Rock Hill and an associate member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church in Kingsport. She was the daughter of the late George W. Barnard Sr. and Ethel Sevy Barnard and the widow of William T. Ross Sr.

Surviving are her son, William T. Ross Jr. of Havertown, Pa.; her daughter, Nancy Jo Brock of Kingsport; her brother, George W. Barnard of North East, Md.; and four grandchildren.

Wylie Steele

CLOVER - Mr. Wylie Clarence Steele, 78, of 2617 Smith Road died Sunday Feb. 28, 1999.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Carothers Funeral Home in Gastonia, N.C., with the Revs. A.A. Bailey and Dick Whitener officiating. Burial will be at Gaston Memorial Park.

A native of Gaston County, Mr. Steele was the son of the late Thomas Edward and Bessie Ann Warlick Steele. He was a retired carpenter with the Bessemer City Lumber Plant. He was a World War II Army veteran and served with the 35th Infantry Division, 654th Tank Destroyer Battalion. He was a member of First Baptist Church in York.

Surviving are his wife, Juanita Bumgardner Steele; his son, Donald Richard Steele of West Lake Village, Calif.; his daughter, Norma Jean Steele Holland of Clover; five brothers, Billy R. Steele, Homer Steele and Joe Steele, all of Bessemer City, N.C.; Robert Steele of Lithonia, Ga., and Eddie Steele of Fort Mill; two sisters, Ruby Boone and Edith Cantrell, both of Bessemer City; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Carothers Funeral Home, 312 W. 2nd Ave., Gastonia, N.C.

Frankie Worthy

CHESTER - Mrs. Frankie M. Worthy of 570 Center St. died Monday, March 1, 1999, at Chester County Hospital.

Lela Brown

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Lela Brown of 737 South York Ave. died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Robinson Funeral Home.

Betty Coleman

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Betty McCorkle Coleman, 69, of 4604 Oak Meadow Road died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jack Nunn officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Coleman attended Rock Hill public schools. After graduating from business college, she worked many years in the Rock Hill area before retiring to become a homemaker and bookkeeper for her husband's construction business. She was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Oscar C. Coleman; her son, Oscar C. Coleman Jr. of Moyock, N.C.; her daughter, Sandra Brazil of Athens, Ga.; two sisters, Sylvia McCorkle and Dorothy Helsaveck, both of Rock Hill; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at home.

Lizzie Collins

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Lizzie M. Collins of 414 Fewell St. died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at White Oak Manor.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Mount Zion Baptist Church in McConnells, with the Rev. John T. McCoy officiating and the Revs. L.L. Hancock and John Darby assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Collins was a native of York County. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church and AP&B Society No. 5. She attended the public schools of York County.

Surviving are two sons, Nathaniel Collins of Baltimore, Md., and Frazier Collins Jr. of Rock Hill; her daughter, Nettie Boseman of Rock Hill; three sisters, Addie Mae Bratton, Jeanette T. Parsons and Evelyn Bennett, all of Sacramento, Calif.; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Robinson Funeral Home.

The body will be taken to the church at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

Mary Guest

GAFFNEY - Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Powell Guest, 76, of Apt. L-55 Limestone Courts died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Friday at Allen Temple CME Church, with the Revs. C.E. Harris, J.L. Searight, Arthur J. Smith and Brenda Harris officiating. Burial will be at Limestone Cemetery.

A native of Gaffney, Mrs. Guest was a graduate of Granard High School. She was a member of Allen Temple CME Church and sang in the choir.

Surviving are two sons, Wylie Guest Sr. of Gaffney and Larry Guest of Rock Hill; three daughters, Carolyn G. Dukes of Gaffney, Linda G. Dawkins of Stamford, Conn., and Shirley Guest of the home; her brother, Isaac Powell Jr. of Gaffney; her sister, Marie Henderson of Salisbury, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The body will be placed in the church at 3 p.m. Friday.

Foster Funeral Home, 300 N. Petty St., Gaffney is in charge.
