Mildred Mangum

LANCASTER - Mrs. Mildred Joyce Ivy Mangum, 53, of 1538 Woodrow Neal Road died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at East Side Baptist Church, with the Revs. Joel Rhyner and Donald Tillman officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Lancaster, Mrs. Mangum was a member of East Side Baptist Church and was employed at U.S. Textiles.

Surviving are are husband, Louie Randy Mangum; her son, Johnny Kimmer of Lancaster; three stepsons, Chris Mangum, Randal Mangum, both of Lancaster, and John Mangum of Charlotte; two brothers, Carl Ivey and Charles Ivey, both of Lancaster; four sisters, Monnie Kimmer, Betty Lane and Linda Helms, all of Lancaster, and Josephine Jefferson of Rock Hill; and eight grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at home.

Dr. Thomas Morris Jr.

WESTPORT, Mass. - Dr. Thomas A. Morris Jr., 82, of Westport died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at Rehabilitation Hospital in New Bedford, Mass.

The funeral was private.

Dr. Morris was a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who practiced at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Boston, Peter Bent Brigham Hospital and the Massachusetts Mental Health Center. A native of Hamlet, N.C., he graduated from Wake Forest College and the University of Pennsylvania Medical School. He was a World War II Navy Medical Corps veteran and served as a Lieutenant Commander on the USS Ordrenaux. While in private practice in Boston and New Bedford, he taught at Harvard and Tufts Medical schools.

Surviving are his wife, Dee Sell Morris; his son, Dr. Thomas A. Morris III of Duxbury, Mass.; four daughters, Mary Ada Schwartz of Lynnfield, Mass., Elizabeth A. Johnson and Susan M. Branch, both of Bridgewater, Mass., and Sara D. Morris of Natick, Mass.; his sister, Helen Martin of Richburg; and eight grandchildren.

Potter Funeral Home in Westport, Mass., was in charge.

Flora Neal

NEW YORK - Mrs. Flora Neal of 200 W. 147th St. died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999, at her home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Brown Chapel AME Zion Church in Chester, with the Rev. Anthony Commodore officiating and the Revs. O.L. Smith, Karon B. Walker and George B. Guy assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Surviving are her sister, Essie Kennedy of Durham, N.C., and her niece with whom she lived, Virginia Walker.

The family will receive friends at the home of her niece, Ella Mae Walker Reno, 147 Loomis St.

The body may be viewed from 9 a.m. to noon today at Christopher King's Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road, Chester.

The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. today.

Ruby Rhodes

LAKE CITY - Mrs. Ruby H. Rhodes, 96, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Lake City First Baptist Church. Burial will be at Lake City Memorial Park.

A native of Kingsburg, Mrs. Rhodes was a homemaker and member of Lake City First Baptist Church, the Dorcas Sunday school class, Women's Missionary Society, Order of the Eastern Chapter 100, and the American Auxiliary. She was the widow of James David Rhodes.

Surviving are three sons, Samuel William Rhodes of Rock Hill, Howard Leon Rhodes of Columbia and Charles Richard Rhodes of Lake City; two daughters, Louise R. Charpia of Greenville and Mona Rhodes Boyd of Kingstree; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Brockington Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Lake City First Baptist Church.

Nancy Ross

KINGSPORT, Tenn. - Mrs. Nancy Barnard Ross, 81, of 1300 Bloomingdale Pike, formerly of Rock Hill, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, at Holston Valley Medical Center.

Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m. today at First Broad Street United Methodist Church in Kingsport and at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John's United Methodist Church in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Dr. Tim McClendon and the Rev. Linda Dunn officiating.

Mrs. Ross graduated from Allegany High School in Cumberland, Md., and from Frostburg State Teacher's College in Frostburg, Md. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Rock Hill, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the choir and handbell choir. She was an associate member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church in Kingsport. She was a native of Uniontown, Pa., and the widow of William T. Ross Sr.

Surviving are her son, William T. Ross Jr. of Havertown, Pa.; her daughter, Nancy Jo Brock of Kingsport; her brother, George W. Barnard of North East, Md.; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to First Broad Street United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1346, Kingsport, TN 37662 or Friends In Need, 618 Watauga St., Kingsport, TN 37662 or St. John's United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 149, Rock Hill, SC 29731.

Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes is in charge.

Richard Sellers Sr.

LANCASTER -Mr. Richard F. Sellers Sr., 58, of 611 Creekside Park died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Christian Assembly Church, with the Rev. Marvin Tennant officiating. Burial with full military honors and Masonic Rites by Hart Lodge No. 380 will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Chesterfield County, Mr. Sellers was retired from the U.S. Navy with the rank of Petty Officer. He was retired from Duracell and attended Christian Assembly Church. He was Past Master of Hart Lodge No. 380 and was Past Worthy Patron Eastern Star Hart Chapter No. 300.

Surviving are his wife, Sybil Kelly Sellers of Lancaster; three sons, Ronnie Threatt Sellers of Conway and Ricky F. Sellers Jr. and Harmon N. Sellers, both of Lancaster; his daughter, Becky Coley of Fort Lawn; three brothers, Thomas Sellers, Dean Sellers and Charles Sellers, all of Wadesboro, N.C.; two sisters, Annie Lee Ratliff of Wadesboro, N.C., and Flora Bell Huntley of Chesterfield; and nine grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Kelley Steffey

ROCK HILL - Mr. Kelley Steffey, 54, of 2506 Celanese Road died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at home.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Greene Funeral Home.
